It would choke Scottish Government to acknowledge Celtic contribution

807

You read the Scottish Government’s response last week when a Glasgow business won £40m worth of export income, shared with others in their sector from Dingwall to Kilmarnock? Celtic’s Champions League success this month has been phenomenal economic news for Glasgow in particular, and Scotland in general, but it would break the Scottish Government scarcely concealed agenda towards Celtic for them to acknowledge the contribution to our economy.

Instead they peddle some hoary old trash in attempting to defend their thoroughly discredited Offensive Behaviour’ Act, which sought to “equalise” supporters behaving lawfully with those behaving in a sectarian manner.

The Government, which for years placed great political capital into respecting the will of the Scottish Parliament, suddenly decided Parliament’s voice could be ignored by Government, when the chamber voted to repeal the Act in November.

It would choke these people to acknowledge Celtic’s contribution to the country’s economic welfare. They want your votes, they don’t want to listen to you, or Parliament, or any other body who may represent you, unless you conform to a cultish utopian vision.

We live in the age where governments across the globe bang the Bogeyman Drum, while indulging in crass selective seeing and hearing. This Tartan-Peronist outfit would be wise not to cherry-pick how they tackle Celtic supporters, or our club.

  3. Wee PaddyBhoy is back makes me a happy auld Celtic man.

If the deal between Man C and Fulham is structered that it would cause ANY club , never mind Celtic serious problems in signing Paddy permanent….then theres probably only so much Celtic can do.

Lets all enjoy having the wee man back in Paradise.

Thats what I will be doing.

    Hail Hail PR7.

  4. Good morning from sin drenched Turkey. Patrick on loan then? A bit underwhelmed but if Man City hold the trump cards i suppose there’s only so much we can do.

Can’t see the £81 m story anywhere but CQN?

Re the sell on, no one really knows what the details are, so all sums are guesswork.

What should temper our expectations slightly is that, normally, any sell on % is based on profit, not the total fee. Also, it would be sensible to assume an amortisation of the %.

Happy with our window so far, hoping for a centre half now.

    CELTIC CHAMPS ELECT:

Busiest I’ve been for a while, personal insults not welcome.

Apologies Mod2 have you ever thought of deleting the constant NEGATIVITY from the usual suspects on here as it’s really irritating me now thanks

  11. Three days to go.

To date we have 2 first choice CL players signed (Ntcham & Roberts), 1 SPFL squad player (Hayes) and 1 prospect who’ll probably go out on loan (Benyu). Ralston, Ajer and Miller now part of the first team squad.

To go back to what BR originally said he wanted we are 1 centre half short. He has since added an additional striker/forward to his wanted list. 2 signings in these 2 positions and its been a productive window.

  12. Three days to go.

Still expect some departures. Henderson and Gamboa the obvious two, possibly Sviatchenko if we sign another centre half.

My God. My cover has been blown.

    :-)

    `67 , `68 and `69 , i think .

    Afore your time.

A Gallardia player used to post on here. The name I forget .

  14. I wouldn’t be too upset if we didn’t get the third choice striker. However, a first choice central defender is crucial. Imagine a Ntcham level signing for CB. That would make it a good transfer window!!

  15. If it hadn’t been for the injuries to Boyatta and Dembele, people would be much happier about this window.

These injuries have left us weak in key areas which has caused a degree of panic.

IMHO, if we can get in decent CB cover (assuming either Jozo or Erik will be sold in the next 12 months), plus another decent striker (assuming Dembele will go within the same timeframe), then this will have been an excellent window for us.

The extra money for VVD – if correct – is incredible, and a testament to what a well run club Celtic is.

You might be lucky it’s a bit early, but support for the Board usually receives howls of derision on here.

    But I agree with you!

I played for Kelvin Star and then for Gallardia in the second half of the 70’s. The Steamboats of that era included a pal from school called Jimmy Mears. Mean anything?

  19. Paddy Roberts welcome home. Best signing of the season. Get the hoops on Paddy. Up to you know bhoy.
