It would choke Scottish Government to acknowledge Celtic contribution

807

You read the Scottish Government’s response last week when a Glasgow business won £40m worth of export income, shared with others in their sector from Dingwall to Kilmarnock? Celtic’s Champions League success this month has been phenomenal economic news for Glasgow in particular, and Scotland in general, but it would break the Scottish Government scarcely concealed agenda towards Celtic for them to acknowledge the contribution to our economy.

Instead they peddle some hoary old trash in attempting to defend their thoroughly discredited Offensive Behaviour’ Act, which sought to “equalise” supporters behaving lawfully with those behaving in a sectarian manner.

The Government, which for years placed great political capital into respecting the will of the Scottish Parliament, suddenly decided Parliament’s voice could be ignored by Government, when the chamber voted to repeal the Act in November.

It would choke these people to acknowledge Celtic’s contribution to the country’s economic welfare. They want your votes, they don’t want to listen to you, or Parliament, or any other body who may represent you, unless you conform to a cultish utopian vision.

We live in the age where governments across the globe bang the Bogeyman Drum, while indulging in crass selective seeing and hearing. This Tartan-Peronist outfit would be wise not to cherry-pick how they tackle Celtic supporters, or our club.

    ‘Labour posturing’?

Absolutely nonsense. Every political party and every political party in Holyrood opposed this legislation.

The CH injuries, may have extended Bitton stay with us ??

I think Jozo is the best we have, better than Boyata by a fair bit

Erik looks to be going ? Leicester had been interested in Jan, maybe some movement once the English merry go round kicks in

Also think young Liam Henderson is now better moving on, doesn’t look like he is going to break through, with Ntcham and Eboui when fit well ahead of him

So may be a bit of adjustment to our squad

Brendan wants less, but better quality – sounds like a better plan to me :-)))

TET you are constantly negative about the board the signings we don’t make. What right have you considering you don’t even live in the mother country :-)

  5. Welcome back to paradise Paddy bhoy. I’d much rather you were here on a permanent deal and I’ll be despondent if we can’t make it permanent. Its akin to getting back with the girl of your dreams shortly after her chucking you and knowing that its only a matter of time before she chucks you again and goes back to the guy with the flash car and heaps of cash.

Ok, if that’s the way you see it fine by me.

You obviously are not on here when I praise Pedro, not often mind you cos he doesn’t deserve it, but when he does good he gets the kudos, as for the rest of the parasites on the board, no, they are what they are, parasites, they do nothing for the football club apart from drain it’s resources, if you can tell me different well and good, I may well change my opinion.

  12. Doc,

If paying a loan deal, this value can be knocked off any final fee

And as for paying his wages, if signed permanently we would be paying them anyway, so no extra expense there

It’s called a Win Win in my world :-)

I think they are there for the good of the PLC first and foremost, that much is as plain as day, the football club that allows them to drain the club of it’s resources comes a distant second.

The likes of Bankier et all are not worth the money they take out of the club, Pedro is IMO, he is worth ten times the other suits, they do little to further the club on any level, we have guys on the board that have made billions in their respective fields, yet the struggle to help Celtic, can you name any board member that has furthered the club due to their involvement in the club ?

sorry just back on the blog so wasn’t ignoring you.

the SA dude “failing” the medical, erik being earmarked as surplus and jozo’s agent looking to get his way with a fit player who has more chance of passing medical this season than last and the player now fancies it and the club are looking at it more receptively than before.

two cb’s maybe required or will erik get a reprieve? it looks likely he may and jozo could be the one to go…

injury problems with both strikers mean that i think another CF is being looked at. loan probably.

but, in truth its all in the air swirling like a crisp poke.

  24. The Green Man

Who would you sign that would actually come to Celtic then ?

Who are all these loan signings that celtic have ? Last count I saw just one who has just arrived despite £15m being offered for his signature.

Why don’t you just go enjoy yourself away from celtic now that you have stopped watching them ? It might give you a wee bit less stress than showing an almost bitter resentment on here each day and night ? Between yourself and Kevjungle it all seems very sad that you can’t enjoy celtic like so many of us are right now. The second best period of our celtic supporting lives.

  29. the glorious balance sheet on

It’s great to have Paddy Roberts for another season. It is clear though that our scouts and recruitment people are going to have to earn their corn big time in the January transfer window.

If Paddy has the kind of season that we all hope he will – making a difference in Europe – then he will be well out our reach next summer. And we will be “as you were” looking for a creative dribbler that can make the difference more often than not when the chips are down. Forrest has his attributes but is no Paddy.

It’s hard to see Dembele still being here for a third season. The 1 year contract extension suggests a mutually agreed sale of Armstrong is on the cards too.

Brown and Lustig will be a year older and we’d be closer to the point where long term replacements are needed. Ntchaim and kouassi suggest the regeneration of the midfield is sorted, in terms of the right back area, ralston is a prospect, but it’s early days yet for him.

De Vries will be 37 and its likely that we would need a new keeper to challenge Gordon.

If Rogic decides he fancies a move too after what will by then be 5 and a half years in Scotland then we could have a lot of squad reshaping next summer. Making the European qualifiers even more challenging.

The only way to manage this is to do as much as we can in January. And plan for that from the very moment that the window shuts this week.
