It would choke Scottish Government to acknowledge Celtic contribution

807

You read the Scottish Government’s response last week when a Glasgow business won £40m worth of export income, shared with others in their sector from Dingwall to Kilmarnock? Celtic’s Champions League success this month has been phenomenal economic news for Glasgow in particular, and Scotland in general, but it would break the Scottish Government scarcely concealed agenda towards Celtic for them to acknowledge the contribution to our economy.

Instead they peddle some hoary old trash in attempting to defend their thoroughly discredited Offensive Behaviour’ Act, which sought to “equalise” supporters behaving lawfully with those behaving in a sectarian manner.

The Government, which for years placed great political capital into respecting the will of the Scottish Parliament, suddenly decided Parliament’s voice could be ignored by Government, when the chamber voted to repeal the Act in November.

It would choke these people to acknowledge Celtic’s contribution to the country’s economic welfare. They want your votes, they don’t want to listen to you, or Parliament, or any other body who may represent you, unless you conform to a cultish utopian vision.

We live in the age where governments across the globe bang the Bogeyman Drum, while indulging in crass selective seeing and hearing. This Tartan-Peronist outfit would be wise not to cherry-pick how they tackle Celtic supporters, or our club.

Doubt if Japan has the weaponry to do it. And,as always,China is the big picture. One move by anyone against N Korea without Chinese approval will result in a bloodbath.

CowieBhoy, I won’t make it to many games this season, job to do, should be easier this time next year.

Will make some games, but don’t know when yet.

TGM …. you wouldn’t think so, but if Astana can be in Europe, and Australia can qualify in Europe, then why not Japan or North Korea?!

I would be delighted to show MIT around Belfast including my own admittedly very biased take on the taxi tour.

As Wits has alluded to some parts of Belfast definitely do not welcome the Hoops apparel but those areas are so parochial in outlook that a St Pauli shirt and its significance would not be recognised MIT.

As stated earlier worth 20 mins of people’s time. It won’t be regretted.

Welcome home Paddy. Don’t give a flying if its permanent or a loan after another season in Paradise you won’t want to leave anyway.

On a completely different matter heading to away game in Munich. Tickets subject to lottery in Club so slim chance of obtaining one….begging bowl out…keep me in mind.

Maybe a wee life other than 16 hours hours a day of spouting bitterness and nonsense about a club you once were part of which is doing outstandingly well by almost any known measure.

A club which you no longer feel part of.

You can’t even answer the obvious simple question as to who you think the club should sign ?

You have to make up fantasy loan signings to add to your sad little agenda. Seems silly.

no problem, with regards the striker, think a third striker on loan makes sense but you never know what is going on in the background. every player has a price.

i just worry that we don’t operate quick enough to execute a plan b,c,d or e depending on what happens.

  19. I can sympathise with TGM. Brendan saying he’ll wait til the end of the window is the real problem. Too often over the past couple of years we’ve heard PL say”we tried to get so and so over the line but it just didn’t happen”

I think if we’d tried to get so and so over the line a week earlier it would give us a chance to go for another so and so before the widow SLAMS shut. TGM is just preparing himself for the usual disappointment

    TGM…cheers for your response…

I just feel it’s not worth it if it gets you so hot under the collar…nothing’s going to change.

The board will continue to be the board and do what they do. they don’t care about you or me.

There are so many other things happening in this oft times cruel world, so, to get so heated about a game of football seems nonsensical to me…I love Celtic, I have loved them for more than 60 years now but do you know what? I’ve loved my wee grandson for a mere 2 1/2 years but I get so much more pleasure from him…

Perspective!….putting things in perspective…I will always love Celtic but I don’t have heroes any more, I am far too old to hero worship some young, millionaire footballer, who, when you think about it, doesn’t give two shits for me…I wouldn’t expect him to either…it’s all a game, with fame, adulation and wealth being the holy grail, the sought after prize…I still remember when the players would exit the stadium and hang around chatting to fans, giving out autographs and uttering kind words to adoring kids like myself. Nowadays, with their headphones and smartphones, they neither hear nor see the fans, who ultimately are the ones providing the high-tech, electronic gadgetry and heated driveways…

No sir! Whilst I will continue to feed my Celtic addiction and get caught up in the emotion of it all, at the end of the day (literally), my wee grandson will return my love and utter kind words to his adoring grampa…

Chill out TGM…we are, and always will be, f88cked over by boards and politicians…it’s what they do best…

    Cheers sir…

  26. Mods, there seems to be an exception to the rules of personal insults when it comes to the so called Celtic Champions Elect. He comes on here and is continually abusive to CQN posters both past and present. He seems to be able to bandy about insults with impunity. So Mods what is the score – a rule for all or an exception for the chosen few?
