It’s not just about genius

655

“People don’t realise how hard he trains or how much he works at it” – Kieran Tierney, talking about Leigh Griffiths. Therein lies a story. One young player, who has worked enormously on his development, recognising the efforts of our other clear success story from this season.

Anyone who believes there is a consistency in the application at training of professional footballers is misinformed. Some are there early and/or stay late to work on their own. Some breeze in at the last minute and never hang around to run, lift or practice with a ball after formal training ends.

The club provides players with breakfast and lunch, but can’t monitor their evening meals or snacks. Or more. Some don’t need to be monitored, others do.

In three months we’ll watch thousands of dedicated athletes, swimmers and sportspeople of many disciplines, pretty much all who work on their development 24×365. Some live lives in the margin of early rises and hermit-like lifestyles. Most footballers live a different reality.

Things are changing at Celtic – and have been going on since before the Ronny era. Players like Kieran Tierney have been brought up to understand the importance of lifestyle and hard work. For years, young players’ attitude has been a major factor in determining if Celtic will retain their services.

Success is not just about inherent genius.

  1. Dermot Desmod has made it perfectly clear that he sees Celtic’s future with Sevco, preferably in England (Guardian 30/915). Lawwell has talked about the missing £10m pa. That’s it, i’m afraid (imo). Into a bigger market or we are just stuck with Sevco.

Stick somebody on a SFA/SPFL board to try and keep some kind of an eye on the cheats. FIFA and UEFA are no better.

Desmond has more on his plate with his shareholding at Ladbrokes (just under 2.8%). Ronny was a punt or project. It didn’t really work but we’ll win the league and the Zombies are back. The media will love it and hype it up.

A box office Coach will sell SBs. Ronny’s salary kindly kept the costs down until Sevco reached the SPL.

Tallybhoy … there aren’t too many band from that period that I haven’t at least heard of … and always love it when someone mentions a new band (even just new to me)… and you just did! so, much appreciated. from the quick listen, they reminded me a bit of Teenage Fanclub … nice vocals.

I mentioned on here recently a young american country/bluegrass singer … caleb caudle … not everyone’s style of music, but probably the nicest purest voice I have heard in a while …. see if you enjoy this ….

Let me be clear: I always stood up for NFL. His treatment in the west of Scotland was disgusting, but this particular series of events took place in Engurlund.

We will always owe NFL a debt of gratitude and his time with Celtic should be remembered with that in mind.

Totally agree with you. Just, however, feel that it should be on our consciences to do something. Walking away withoutat least writing to the Board, IMHO, won’t do. It would allow them to say that there are a number of reasons for a poor uptake of season tickets. Waiting till AGM in November to shout and hiss does not seem to me to be the best way forward.

Now doing something proactive, whatever it is, may be urinating in the breeze, as they say but at least if we do something and fail we will have nothing to reproach ourselves in years to come. Or we can sit and fiddle and watch the flames. Probably too angry to be making much sense.

I told you the reception I got from the Scottish supporters people when I ask for support for Res12, its an old firm problem, I explained it was a governance administration issue, he told me, no its an old firm issue.

So no time for self serving organisations pretending to have fans interests at heart, they obviously don’t when corruption at the SFA is dismissed as and old firm issue.

To be fair to Paul, things are changing at cp right enough we habpve had Moneyball, and the the board working away at the 5 way agreement, and the lying to the support about giving our details to the cops or lying to us about safety certificates. We have had supporters banned for nothing, we have had dawn raids on supporters, we have he’d the refusal to take on res Q12. Bringing in a cheap failed manager, blaming him for the boards ineptitude, hiding from us.

Wonder how those season ticket renewals are shaping up as we continue to peddle these non stories and avoid the issues preoccupying the ‘customer base’, namely how Celtic are preparing for the return of the H*ns in a rigged and corrupt football construct?

BTW as Mike Ashley has proven himself to be a busted flush rather than the enigmatic genius previously hyped up as, how about some lateral thinking if he really wants to get it right up Squint King and his acolytes at the SFA. He still has his massive economic power. Why not slip the Celts a transfer kitty of £30m, which might even pay for a better, stadium filling manager than Lambo (aye, I remember you didn’t fancy the job Paul when your star was ascending). I know it would be the money of an unscrupulous billionaire, but maybe still an improvement on getting no money from an unscrupulous billionaire, which is the current arrangement.

No offence but, I think that your trying very hard to set up Celtic supporters like sitting ducks or, naaaaaah, never mind ducks…..more like lambs marching to slaughter.

Do you seriously think that, the sleekit Celtic PLC-Hierarchy haven’t set traps for any, supporters who may be scunnered into making a protest in the Celtic car park, equipped with bed sheets and slogans like….

“SACK THE BOARD!” – “FLUK THE PLC!”

    – “NOT ONE SEASON BOOK BOUGHT TILL, RES : 12 IS BATTLED BY THE BOARD!”

    ….etc….

Ah mean, do you seriously think that Celtic supporters are unaware of the cosy, more than cosy relationship between Celtic PLC-Hierarchy and the cops ?

Do you want to see scunnered Celtic supporters compiling criminal records to prove a point to you ?

Do you really want that ?

Can’t you see that, the best way for Celtic supporters to SACK THE HIERARCHY is….by doing nothing!

That’s right – do nothing but, keep yer money in yer pocket and, ‘NOT’ the Hierarchies pockets.

Apathetic scunnering by the, downsizing Hierarchies, sleekit-foreign-agent-deals, designed to build extentions onto the heated driveways….has chased 40,000 out the stadium.

What are the 40,000 doing apart from…’NOT’ appearing at the stadium ?

Ye see, the missing 40,000 are the benchmark.

The deluded 20,000 need to waken-up or there will be no more souls left to sell.

By my reckoning, Wim Jansen has unfinished business here and id love to see him involved again……especially if he brought another Henrik with him :))))

  21. Lisbon Lions Upper on

Surprised at some lukewarm reaction to prospect of Lambert getting the job. Performed minor miracles at Wycombe, Colchester and Norwich. Considering how they plummeted when he left, it’s arguable keeping Aston Villa up was in hindsight quite an achievement. Any sensible analysis of the circumstances at Blackburn would uncover extenuating circumstances. Knows us inside out.

Rodgers would be my no 1 choice but Paul L would do me, way ahead of most of all the other names mentioned, imo.
