AFTER what looked like an emotional farewell to Celtic, full back Emilio Izaguirre has told the media back in Honduras that he still has two years remaining on his contract with the 5 in a Row Scottish Champions and as things stand, he will be back in Glasgow for pre-season training.
Izaguirre yesterday spoke to the media to clarify his position at Celtic and to counter reports that he had now left Celtic.
"We still have two years contract with Celtic, I have nothing yet. The president told me he had a contract and nothing more," he said.
He also referred to game against Motherwell last weekend which was presumed to have been his farewell.
"There was a tribute from fans, I told the president of the team I want to play in the team. I have my return ticket to join the pre-season.
"I have a contract and nobody has told me anything else, is all that I can say. "
Emilio is in contention to play for Honduras in their for the match forthcoming matches against Argentina and Canada.
He said that he was glad to be home in Honduras and would take a few days to rest with his family before joining his international teammates on Sunday, ahead of the match with Argentina, which is being played in San Juan on 27th May.
Izaguirre said : " No doubt it will be important game for the squad, we are motivated and we hope that everything goes well for us.
"We aim to keep growing and get better. The game against Canada which is the most important."
He added: " It is encouraging to be selected, it is a blessing, I feel proud."
