Jozo and stupid mistakes

687

Success in football often comes down to who doesn’t make mistakes at the back.  For all France’s pace on the break, it was their sheer solidity at the back which saw them through the World Cup.  England reached the semi-final, with little more than a mid-table select, but they made remarkably few mistakes, and just as importantly, understood the importance of set-pieces – don’t give them away and exploit them when you get them.

Viewed through the prism of an educational World Cup, Jozo Simunovic’s chest-high Alashkert was worthy of a red card on the basis of sheer stupidity.  It was an intolerable mistake, a relic of a former era.

That Uefa doubled his suspension to two game is no surprise.  Perhaps they have a stupidity threshold.

I lived about 1 mile from Cathkin and used to sneak-in on a regular basis when Celtic were away in the early 60’s – never new their full name – thought third lanark was it – makes sense

swap Charlie with John Divers and you’ve got a Celtic song in the making

  6. Yogi: Great game and happy enough with the result. Don’t tell CorkCelt, though.

Great news also on the Liam Miller tribute match. Common sense prevailed.

  7. it’s funny that when you reach a certain age the memory thinks that the 60’s is like yesterday but yesterday is like the 60’s

    Sftb FRom yesterday,,,

Having been in for Mc Ginn and the Australian it does look like two at least will come in and I believe the gaffer wants at least two who are first team capable,,not projects or squad fillers,,to feel that hes as you were and if he gets three then he has strengthened. Thats what I take from his words.

Then back to “Im not sure”. You intimate you feel its just the truth.

Wheres diplomacy and as you point out there is a feel good factor going on so why not keep it up or feed into it instead of what could and is being construed as possible trouble in paradise.

We could go on forever about what he might have meant,,so if we just take his words at face value then if I was BR I wouldnt be happy at all.

He should have handed over his list of targets and sat back safe in the knowledge that we have the funds ,,have a feel good factor to help entice also ,,, Brendan has a good rep it seems,,theres more. He should be delighted right now,,,hardly sounds it. Well thats how I take that and I know others have been concerned by it also.

As you know we had a great manager in MON but were told its not self sustaining so it has to end.

Now we have a good manager who is self sustaining and those running the football budget should feel as if they have hit the jackpot .

He should be big time backed. I will of course wait until the end of the window before I take stock and access. He should feel a little entitled to a large chunk of those funds should he not?

Now please answer this question and tuck the answer away.

We all know there are non disclosure agreements involved with modern day top level football so what we are not going to get is Brendan walking out one day after the window closes and saying they kept my money the bassas.

No in modern football things are mostly diplomatic and the nda’s help enforce that.

If BR walks before 10 ina row,,,he wont be saying why right? He will fudge it and be diplomatic.

If BR walks before 10 will you blame the board and join us?

The only reasons he walks possibly are

    1,,,board interference

    2,,,move to a big club

    3,,,personal circumstances

2 and 3 would be public info and that would be just life.

But you surely would agree he is on course for the 10 and if he jumps off with nothing lined up then even though he wont say it then its the board? In that case I would expect your mine shafting application on my desk stat. I hope never to hold you to this by the way. Dont need you either ;)

Anyway If you feel like bumpin your gums about something I would be interested in your take on

KT gate. Im really surprised this hasnt got more focus.

Heres my take,,Peter watched Game of Thrones on his brief break,,see that old Tyrion disinformation trick,,tells one significant person KT is for the off ,, and sits back and watches who reports it.

I think there were quite a few reported it. So was it a smokeout and are they now burnt?

Well played PL if it was a smokeout .

Word of the day ( just until Vfr returns ),,, Untouchable

The word untouchable is derived from the spirit and deeds of the Lisbon Lions and has been replicated to various degrees of success is the decades that followed but never to quite the same degree.
