Jozo and stupid mistakes

687

Success in football often comes down to who doesn’t make mistakes at the back.  For all France’s pace on the break, it was their sheer solidity at the back which saw them through the World Cup.  England reached the semi-final, with little more than a mid-table select, but they made remarkably few mistakes, and just as importantly, understood the importance of set-pieces – don’t give them away and exploit them when you get them.

Viewed through the prism of an educational World Cup, Jozo Simunovic’s chest-high Alashkert was worthy of a red card on the basis of sheer stupidity.  It was an intolerable mistake, a relic of a former era.

That Uefa doubled his suspension to two game is no surprise.  Perhaps they have a stupidity threshold.

Just noticed that CCB asked CELTERELLA to lay off his religion, which will be the religion most of us were brought up in

As they both know each other, the exchange was polite,if to the point. Just after 6pm last night.

CCB earns his first ever deletion-eat your heart out,MIKEINTORONTO.

Natch,no explanation. No highlighting. Nope, saved the highlighting for when NEGANON was deleted. Day in the sun,eh?

South Shields putting in robust tackles now. They are controlling the game v our youths.

  3. Come on the young Bhoys in green

Does look like men against bhoys, but at 1-0 we are still in it.

I’m with you on this, mate. When I was still in Scotland,I looked forward to my visits to Ibrox. Some serious effort to get tickets for my crowd.

Worth it every time, even when we got beat-which wasnt too often!

If I was offered a couple of tickets from our 800,I would decline. The only thing that kept us safe ish back then was our numbers.

I don’t think there is safety in numbers when we are outnumbered about 100-1.

Only ever saw Celtic in the bigotdome twice 5-1 & 4-1

    Chris Morris

    Frank MacAvennie

Both scored first in each game, season 88/89 was exactly why we should love these days :-)

Well…. arrived in Lisbon yesterday and I live this ould tart.

Here’s a novel idea for the railways in the UK – put on decent trains, where you get allocated a seat with your ticket and you pay the equivalent of Porto to Lisbon – a 3 hour train journey which costs 28 euros.

The son and his girlfriend – Freya “from the eyelint” – arrived at 5 this morning from the Boom music festival in central Portugal. They were knackered an stinkin – Ive literally had to quarantine them and their backpacks.

Aff oot for a wee pub crawl as theyre still in their pits

BMCUWP. Agreed and I used to go to some lengths to get in to the bigotdome to see us versus the forces of darkness as well, including sitting in beside the orcs.

I hope CCB appreciates that he is following in the footsteps of a CQN deletion legend. Tell him that Next time I am over, I will autograph his computer for him! (I actually typed laptop instead of computer there … but then quickly deleted it,?)

Speaking of deletions, I have thought of a new term for the group formerly known as happy clappers, but it may be a bit on the edge (could earn me a red card), so have been holding off

    Been there,nearly got us killed.

We had just signed Mark McGhee. We had also just lost three against Dundee Utd and Aberdeen.

Managed to get three tickets for me,my Dad and my bestie.

Eight rows behind the goal in The Copeland Road Stand. And had to go up on The Cross Keys bus from Stevenston.

    Pattern of losing three continued,beeling.

However,MMcG swivelled on the edge of the area, right in front of us,hit the inside of the post.

Oh ya f…g.oh,naw,aw,how close was that?

And where was that defence? Bloody shocking giving him that amount of room.

    Surprised I’m still alive…

  15. BMCUWP. Same scenario with me and 1 of my mates, in main stand we score and you are tempted to jump up, but give it ffs.

Cannot remember the game in the 80s though, but they came back and we’re winning when we decided to leave with 5 minutes left, to shouts of feck off ya Fenian bassas. I just kept telling my mate who was in front of me to hurry up and when we get put to the concourse run like feck… We were spat on and pies thrown at us etc.

  17. Dembélé has an older brother, winger Siriki Dembélé, who plays for Peterborough United.[39] Both are eligible to play for England, Scotland or Ivory Coast respectively as they are of Ivorian descent.[26] Another brother, Hassan, was playing for the Celtic under-9s in November 2017/[40]

Dembélé is related to Ivorian footballers Yaya Touré, Kolo Touré, and the late Ibrahim Touré.[41]

As we all know, the vast majority are smashing lads.

Then they get mob mentality. Scary to see a normal human being turn like that, and egg on others.

The Sevs are getting charged £12 @ heid for a glamour friendly v Wigan the day

    :-)

  20. BMCUWP exactly, but even individuals are blinded by their “we are the peepul” attitude and their wrong sense of entitlement, and are oblivious to the cheating of their former and present club.

Well that is the few that I know, I don’t even discuss football with them now.

Indeed-but when I head home,it’s my hun mates who refuse to discuss football with me!

  22. BMCUWP well that’s true and maybe subliminally ( big word probably spelt wrong) that’s the reason that I don’t speak to them about football, maybe it’s because they don’t speak about it…

    Ah,the naivety of,erm,rank stupidity…

  25. Gerryfaethebrig on

Again apologies about mentioning the Sevs just had a quick look to see what price ICT were against the wee huns fae the East and noticed the mighty Wigan are 11/10 favourites against Huney Gees mob… happy days indeed :-)

  26. If reports are to be trusted, Celtic are having difficulty speaking to Boyatas agent. Now I can see why he hasn’t signed an extension as the World cup exposure may produce different options for the player.

However, Belguim’s last game was 14th July and I believe Boyata was given 2 weeks leave. He should have been back yesterday.

If he is not discussing an extension with Celtic we need to be pushing his transfer to other clubs. He may be sitting on his hands and looking to leave on a Bosman as he would be able to earn a higher signing on fee.

    Punt him or get nothing
