Judge King plan by those who father it

950

I’ve no affection for Real Madrid but was delighted for them, and Carlo Ancelotti in particular, last night.  It’s getting to the stage that it’s impossible to figure out who the best team in Europe actually is.

Bayern Munich’s season has been historic.  They swept aside German competitors with record-breaking ease on their way to what looked like them becoming the first team to retain Europe’s top crown in its Champions League format.  Real were irresistible.  Let’s hope for a Madrid final before the Lions in Lisbon next month.

After yesterday’s blog I heard that more journalistic allies from Anderston Quay have flocked to Dave King’s camp, including that Leggat (sp?) guy, who used to entertain many.

I’ve heard more theories as to what the Sevco board and the group trying to run their club into the ground are planning that I care to remember, but when you look at the team King in particular has pulled together, you would be forgiven for concluding there is no masterplan worthy of the name.

We can’t always judge a man by the company he keeps but we can just a strategy by those who fathered it.

Prediction: King will kill Sevco then fall on his arse.  Bump.

Here we Go for 10 In a Row!

Applications for the 10th annual CQN charity golf day, which will take place in Aberdour Golf Club on Friday 4th July, will close this Friday, 2nd May.

As ever it will be oversubscribed so if you would like to attend, email BlantyreKev and Taggsy at cqnopen10IAR@gmx.co.uk before Friday.  Cost for the full day’s entertainment including golf is £80.  There are a very limited number of non-golfer evening places at £45.  Further detail will be released nearer the date and when places confirmed.

Over the course of the season I’ve read lots of comment about the values we should aspire to as a club, specifically when it comes to alleviating poverty, both in our own community, and abroad.  CQN’ers responded incredibly to our Malawi school kichen(s) appeal, which dwarfed our work at home.

The Charity Foundation are selling badges (£1 each) before the Dundee United game on 11 May to raise funds to feed the poor and hungry in and around Glasgow.  I have volunteered as a coordinator on the day and have offered to help recruit around 100 to sell badges before the game.

This will be trophy presentation day – but the trophy isn’t coming out until after the game, so you’ll not miss any of the flesh-on-silver action.

If you are able to get involved in this initiative, which strikes the core of what we think of ourselves as a Movement, email your details to cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

Thank you.

    Big Nan,

it makes as much sense as confirming (GW) that at the start of this season they blew a whole load of cash on new players that they neither needed nor could afford and then confirming in the same statemnt that Sleekit’s transfer budget for next season will be the same as it was last season.

At last – its finally beginning to look like they really are a busted flush.

I never criticise the Celtic FC,the board included, but they should ban that Daily Reprobate with immediate effect.

I nearly choked on my toast and marmalade this morning when I saw a new A word joining the CQN lexicon.

The following A words welcome the newcomer:

    Amortization

    Armageddon

    Asset Impairment.

    ************

Asset Impairment. Haemorrhoids for the bourgeois among us?

3.37. 1st sally onto CQN for the day. Bad news.

Will read through later. Annual budget to complete for close of play. Squeezing CP league performance levels out of div 3 type budgets. Basically I am Sleekit in reverse!

Anyone heard guardiola on SSN blaming last night’s pumping on the lack of a strong Sevco (and Hamburg, joys!) in the bundesliga?

Had a great night out with wee Derryghirl, Greenlion2 and the Lioness last night in La Ola, Puerta del Carmen, we chewed the fat something terrible about our children, the Greenock Celtic, the Celtic and the rest, cracking night and what surprised me the most today was…… We never talked politics once…… Too busy having the Craic_CSC

  8. Don’t know if anyone else caught SSB last night. There was a Celtic fan called Sammy giving it tight to the media on their fawning over Fat Salary’s press conferences. Shug and Jim on the defensive immediately. Sammy points out that Rangers troubles started long before the media would have you believe under Sir Minty’s tenure. Not true says Keevins, everything in the garden was rosy up until big bad Craig Whyte took over. They were a perfectly run club up until then. (Aye right) Shug went onto attendances pointing out the poor crowd at the Celtic Inverness game. The fact nearly every other clubs attendances were up meant nothing to him. Sammy pointed out we were in the middle of a recession. Jim Delahunt (economist) said we were out of recession. I must point this news out to my wifes employers who have only managed one one per cent wage rise in five years.

In conclusion, Sir Minty and Ally are good guys. Craig Whyte bad guy and all Hail Dave King.

  9. I had the pleasure of sitting right behind Bob Hoskins at the premiere of The Long Good Friday at the Edinburgh Film Festival in 1980 (?). He laughed, talked, and chortled his way through the movie, then spent a few minutes chatting with us at the end. Hell of a guy, and a sad loss to all.

I am enjoying the pain that the followers of a certain club are going through at the moment.

When I think about how the Bank of Scotland manipulated the league so that Rangers won it every year in the 90’s it makes me sick. They knew how much money we had. They knew how much we could spend. They knew when we were conluding deals. Cue the dark side nipping in and stealing some of our targets.

They also knew how to put pressure on other clubs to sell their prize assets to Rangers and let that club know how much to bid for the bank to put pressure on the club to sell their player.

Now they are scrambling around just struggling to keep their head above water. I will never ever feel sorry for them. I hope this situation lasts a very long time.

Let’s see if I have got the gist of the latest Sevconian shenanigans?

The The Rangers fans want a man they accuse of a crime (Wallace) to step down, and man convicted of crime (King) to step up and take over?

No I think I’ve got that wrong, they want a man who no one has accused of any crime to step down and a man convicted of 41 seperate crimes, each carrying a 2-year jail term or R3.208 fine penalty to take over?

Think I will have to go and lie down as there is something I am not getting here!

    —————————————————————————————————-

The number of convictions is totally irrelevant to this lot . Also I suspect what those convictions are for . They’re not interested.

All they want to know is do they have enough money to put them back to where they belong.

    They have no shame.

  16. A manager’s shelf-life depends very much on many factors. Should they enjoy success, the benefit of choosing their duration in the job is obvious.

However, it would seem that the modern successful manager chooses to move on following a four or five year stint.

Take Josep Guardiola (four years at Barca), our own MON (5 at Celtic, Leicester and Wycombe, 4 at Villa) and WGS (5 at Coventry, 4 at Celtic); all enjoying considerable, if not relative success.

Of course, you could argue about Alex Fergusson, Arsne Wegner etc and the flip side Jose Mourinho, GUss Hiddink etc. However, theirs is a different motivation and circumstance entirely.

NL has made no secret of his desire to ride the financial waves of the EPL. While his stock is high enough to get him into the top league, he MAY choose to take it. Otherwise, he may have to wait until Middlesbrough need a new manager.

There’s more than a few guys in Hamilton apt to do a bit of decking, particularly of a Friday night. Is there anyone in particular you want decked?

Long may they conclude whatever they want. Their collective heads in the sand have given us all so much to enjoy. For, the ole SMSM, in its myriad forms, have made their own invaluable contribution to the prolonged dying of that undead mob fae Govan. Long may they cherish the likes of Minty and Ally. Long may they willfully ignore the cries of those who want to see the ole deeds. Long may they pretend to slumber. The longer they do, the longer will their agony last.

Deerie me, my brother and I looked at each other, he left him without a name, I won’t go into what he said, but he defiantly does not like him, each to there own mind you.

I think what happened to Bayern was predictable.

Have said all season since witnessing them labour in the super up against Chelsea that they were a prettier but less effective team under Pep.

Most coaches now have that system rumbled.

Compress the space between defense and midfield in the last third and they have no alternate plan.

The obsession with possession is a millstone.

Their game they tied at Old Trafford was a testament to this.

Almost 70% possession and they were lucky to escape with a tie.

Until Pep learns to break down the possession stats into positive, negative and neutral then his system will ineffective .

Think to many coaches are obsessed with possession to the detriment of their own teams effectiveness.

Pep is a talented but one dimensional coach who has to change or become obsolete.
