why are people so anti dave provan on here?????
i dont hear him analysing matches in ireland, so i dont know
he was a great player for us in the 80s

I thought Crocker and Provan’s commentary was honest, accurate, and professional. Just saying. We’re all too easily offended.
And none of the players need to take a good look at themselves. Inevitably some of them look less good than usual when up against the champions of Italy as opposed to Dundee etc.
Have had to listen to Sky Italia continually going on about the technical superiority of Juventus. I just didn’t see it.
The mistakes at Paradise finished the whole tie.
Still proud to be a Tim though! And so proud of our supporters!

I just think we are now confident and capable enough to play and compete at this level and last season helped us get here. Hope we can build and improve, I just loved watching us in Europe this season.

Thanks for the memories Celtic and thanks to the travelling support tonight .

Lots of positives from Europe this year now lets get on with fighting the masons running Scottish football.

Juve have done us a great favour in shining a light on our deficiencies.
Mainly the deficiencies of individual players.
What opposition coach is unaware of the fact that if you want a goal against Celtic, you throw a high ball from the left wing to the far post.
Or a low ball.

On a night like that, with a surface like that, with a new park thats not bedded in, you would think we would shoot on sight rather than trying to pass to someone else.
Was that the worst coverage ever by SKY?

NL being totally honest – class tells in the end. Hoping the young team will learn from this.

On the plus side, we tried to play football, and we looked a far cry from the ineptitude we have shown in away ties in previous years.
We also had no luck, with Joe’s shot, and the Commons – Hooper deflection.
On the negative side, how many times this season have we seen the opposition’s first effort on goal go in, or Izzy beaten by a cross?
Juve won’t go further. Sammy should have burst the net, and Ambrose is the worst header of a ball I’ve seen for quite a while. Contrast his pitiful effort with Santana’s rocket header for Dortmund yesterday.
Lastly, with Joe’s exception, our shooting was shocking, either weak, way off target, or ballooned over the bar. We really had opportunities, and we squandered them.
All in all, no disgrace, and we should have learned lessons from the first leg.
Think it was Wheelan who was co commentating on RTE tonight, he said we were unlucky and there was never 5 goals in the tie.
We have come a long, long way under Lenny, when you think back to the day he took over from TM, what will the bombs and the bullits, the death threats, the assaults, the intimidation, the cheating, the blatent corruption, the cheats with the whistles.
It’s a wonder we have won anything in reality, well done Lenny and the coaches.
Now it will be back to being scunnered and depressed, till we venture on the the euro trail in a few months.

Reality Check!
Unfortunate tonight and in the home game – but currently our lack of experience at this level will always cost Us dearly. We miss a few reasonable chances – Juventus thrive on mistakes by their opponents and punish them.
Watch Italian football every week (have done so since the early CH4 days) – take a look any week at the Serie ‘A’ highlights. All of the teams are technically good (even the bottom clubs are much better than competent) – defensively they are well drilled and work as a unit.
Highlights show spectacular goals – but every week you will see that most of their games are settled by punishment of a basic mistake in defence and none are more clinical at it than Juventus – they are masters.
Not got stats to hand but believe they’ve only lost one game at home this season and went 49 games undefeated last season – their goals against column tells the story plus throw-in this season’s 500+ minutes without conceding in the CL.
What we’ve done in Europe this season and where we actually managed to get to – was well beyond my wildest dreams. There’s a team there in the making – sadly finance and the league we play in won’t allow us to retain the entire current squad and develop it over the next 2-3 years into mature stalwarts like; Henke, Sutton, Hartson etc.
Yes we lost and are out – but we’ve competed at a Champions League Level well above the mundane benchmark here in Scotland and the thing is – we (the Club) will do it again and again!
Why? Because we are Glasgow Celtic and European Opponents recognise it, acknowledge it and most importantly respect us for our endeavours.
Planning starts tomorrow for next season’s CL campaign.
Proud of the Bhoys efforts tonight and over the 10 games – more of the same next season please!
