Juxtaposition of Keane with wannabes elsewhere

Worst Rangers [sic]team in history?

Worst Rangers [sic]chief executive in history?

Worst Rangers [sic]fans in history?
Oh, please.  They have played their part to perfection.

Worst Rangers [sic]manager in history?
Who, Ally the Great Enabler?  No way.

Charles Green would not have any authority at Ibrox if Ally McCoist didn’t act as his enabler last year.  While every Celtic fan with a keyboard was typing “Can they really be so stupid again?” Ally was cutting a deal for almost 5% of the share capital of the company [sic].  None of this would be possible without Ally.  If you see him, buy him a pie.

The juxtaposition was pointed out to me:

19 years after John Keane stepped forward with an amount of money very precious to him..

With no guarantee it would solve our problems…

Or that he would see a penny of it again (for the record, he hasn’t, and he is unlikely to)…

A very different history played out across the city.

Today’s Herald told us the group trying to overthrow the Sevco board contains Jim McColl and that, “McColl is one of Scotland’s richest people, but he won’t spend his own money”.

The world is full of rich men who will not spend their own money.  Long may they squabble over the Ibrox debris.

Our honorary chairman, John Keane, waved to the Celtic Park crowd before letting the league flag fly high, a direct consequence of putting his money where his mouth was.

Can see Paul Hartley getting the Hibs job,Fenlon seems a good guy but results are poor

  3. South, we played them in the Cup Winners Cup as well and demolished them didn’t we? What were they like when you saw them?

  4. 'crushed nuts?' 'Naw, Layringitis!' on

Chuckles is behaving as if he’s got something to hide…where’s the ST money?

Think we played them in early 66 in the ECWC- a young lad came on at half time and played keepy-uppy to entertain the crowd. His name was George Connelly. ( my dad never tired of this one). The return was played in Tiblisi (why?) and Celtic didn’t get back until near midnight on the Friday. We played Hearts at Tyney on the Saturday.

Pat Fenlon the first casualty of the new season ? Having just watched the Hibernian Motherwell match as the home team Hibs were extremely poor.they just did not create much at all and in the end Motherwell deserved to win I thought big Mick had a good game as well.I dont think Pat Fenlon has any idea and he looks lost I cant see him being in the job much longer. H.H.

Long time ago —– memory says —–athletic / skilled / lots of dig and occasionally rather cynical.

  13. Good afternoon chaps. Today I cannot muster any sense of negativity. The sun is shining, I even enjoyed cutting the grass!

Watching the Hun soap opera really is the best entertainment ever.

    Contented sigh……..

  14. I was at the George Connelly keepie uppy game. Up and doon the park the bold George went from end to end and back again. I can still remember that but can’t remember anything of the game. It was the half time entertainment, I think. What further entertainment George provided. Like Wim van Hanegem, George could pass the ball. But he could do so with either foot. Big Wim used his right to stand on.

Thread on Sevco Media-Out of 8 Cups in two years.

Most of you guys are way older than me. How feared were Celtic in the golden period? SOT did the Italians fear Celtic when we played the Milan teams after 67?Also did any of you attend games v Dynamo Kiev? We defeated them 3-0 in 66 I think. I have a big interest in Russian football.

Hugh McIlvanney, a fairly respected journalist wrote of that era. ‘No one (world wide’ can come to Celtic Park expecting to win’.

  17. I’m with sky….

ps..bt on sky. (if u dont have bt internet) costs £12 a month plus one off payment of £15 connection fee.

  18. Thanks for replies. I wish I saw Connelly live . Neganon it is lovely to hear you are in a good mood. I suspect you will be even happier as events unfold.

  19. ….PFayr

Chuck is back, and a day or so later this happens…..coincidence..Mmmmmm

They must need the cash to keep going till his lock in expires.

  20. Most enjoyable Connolly performance was Glasgow Cup tie at centre half when he had Colin Stein beating the ground in frustration.

George is my all-time favourite player.

Marvellous and I just cry sometimes thinking about the man who should have been better than Beckenbauer.

  23. Seem to remember we played Dynamo Kiev in September ’67 in the first round of the European Cup, as holders Celtic should have had a bye, but correct me if I’m wrong some other team pulled out for whatever reason so Celtic had to play. Lost 1-0 at CP and drew

1-1 in Russia. Big well organised team as I remember.
