Knowledge resistant fans

177

I see some confusion online regarding the submission of football club accounts.  All clubs have to submit annual accounts to Companies House.  In addition, Celtic issue interim accounts to shareholders and publish them online.  Newco’s annual statement for the year to 30 June 2022 was submitted in December (they made a small loss).  They are not obliged to submit interim accounts and commercial sensitivity reasons are good enough to inhibit publication.

Douglas Park stepped down as Newco chairman yesterday, making way for his deputy, John Bennett.  Newco have been dependent on shareholder support since their inception.  They gave the impression of surviving hand-to-mouth om 2021, a year which saw 11 share allotments – almost but not quite one per payroll run.

A successful run in Europe last year, coupled by Champions League group stage qualification and upwards of £30m earned in transfer fees, reduced the number of times the club had to go to the shareholder well to just twice.  Despite that boost in income, 2023 has already seen two share allotments. I expect more to follow – if they can find a shareholder ‘clever’ enough.

Share issues can keep the lights on, but Uefa’s Financial Stability Regulations means there are limits on how much of this money can be used for football purposes.  Newco have reached those limits and must now live within their means or forgo European income.  Even an actual ‘billionaire’ new investor could not spend money on football operations.

Living within your means is a 19-year-old mantra on CQN.  It is neither easy nor popular – there is a reason our board didn’t buy the bling some craved.  Football fans are entitled to want their team to improve without being required to learn about finance.  In this respect, even fans who should have learned the harshest lesson, seem ‘knowledge resistant’.

To resolve their problems, they need to win the league and automatically reach the Champions League group stage, or again succeed in the qualification rounds – a steep ask.  Alternatively, they could sell talent.  Park will know what chances the club has of achieving what is required on both these fronts.  You may be inclined to see his departure as an indication of confidence.  The actual only way out of this is a Celtic collapse far greater than they temporary on-field disasters we experienced in 2020-21.  That is the only strategic game in town.

  1. Andy Walker bombshell sees SFA threaten to pull Sky’s VAR access amid ref fury and Ian Maxwell talks

Hampden chiefs believe Walker has misinterpreted the dialogue but referees are understood to be furious.

    …………..

Apparently, the Refs are accusing Andy Walker of breaching a ” TRUST” ?

What ” TRUST” are they on about ?

Any so called ” Trust” from many Celtic supporters towards Refs went ” oot the windae” a very long time ago.

VAR was supposed to bring ” TRANSPARENCY” etc…..but it now appears that the Refs are against THAT, in relation to Andy Walkers comments.

Those Hun Refs are happy with the Hun Klub getting most of the decisions in their favour.

“Goldson, if you get a chance with Kyogo, go right through him.”

    Barry Ferguson.

    ……………….

NOT a surprise really from Ferguson.

His recollections of Hun v Celtic games when he ” Played”… would have those CHUMP Hun fans believe that wee Barry also fought at ” The ALAMO” and on the ” NORMANDY BEACHES” in 1944 ?

I also see that ” QUARK”…….( ALEX RAE ) has said that he is ” Baffled” by the decision not to have away fans to Ipox and Celtic Park ?

Of course…QUARK makes NO mention that it was the Hun Board who started all of this, because they were/are pissed off with Celtic supporters celebrating Victories at Ipox.

Another ugly Hun CHUMP who attaches NO BLAME to the Hun Board and its Hun fans at any time.

  4. I am more than happy that there will be NO Hun fans inside PARADISE.

I just wish I had a TICKET for the game !

    LOL.

I Emailed the Celtic Ticket Office in the vain hope that maybe there was just ONE Spare Seat available, especially in the Main Stand for the Huns game and beyond, and despite being an OAP and Disabled I would be happy to pay the FULL Price for a Season Book ?

I was politely advised, to join the Waiting List ?

I Emailed the young lady back again, to advise her that I will probably be DEED…. long before I got to the Top of the Waiting List ?

    LOL.

I loved the 70s music (glam rock and Disco)

    ……………..

I was a Big T – REX Fan, and I was lucky enough to see them LIVE in the early 1970s twice, when they were at their Peak.

Sadly, wee MARCs music went downhill from late 1973 onwards, mainly due to drink and cocaine…apparently ? I was very sad to see him go that way before his death in 1977.

Did you know that his Girlfriend and Backing Singer ( Gloria Jones) who drove the Mini Car that killed Marc in 1977, was the original Singer of the Song ” TAINTED LOVE” ?

That Song was covered very well by SOFT CELL in the early 1980’s.

    HH mate.

  8. BIG JIMMY

Didn’t know that about the cover version.

Sadly too many heroes taken early due to eh, choices made… I’m a George Michael fan, he could sing any of the great songs from any band,, what a voice…..

  9. GLORIA JONES Sang ” Tainted Love” in 1964.

Its not too bad, but I prefer Soft Cells version in 1981/1982 ?

    BELMONT BRIAN…

    Can you Post Links to…?

Aye mate, George Michael was brilliant also.

I saw a concert of his on TV….George Michael UNPLUGGED.

Its was superb, and your right….what a voice that Boy had.

  11. ive taken a Bet at odds of 28/1 with William Hills, that BOTH Celtic and the Huns will score from Penalties on Saturday ?

Ive got a gut feeling that the Ref and VAR will make a mistake in awarding a Penalty to one Team….and then another to the other Team later on in order to ” EVEN” matters UP ?

i could be wrong of course……but I couldnt resist the 28/1 on offer.

  12. WITS

    From previous

Despite your quite personal attack on canamalar yesterday I still maintain the site is better with discussion beyond what the MSM reports on any topic.

Debate and discussion on issues is surely better than blind acceptance of what is put in front of us.

Of course some posters take it to an extreme but we are surely all smart enough to ‘roll with that’ or scroll with it.

I do respect that you are also entitled to follow views and direction from Boris Johnston, Nicola, Hancock and the Airdrie dentist as propagated by the MSM in times when there is an emergency situation. I also respect that you are entitled to put your faith in big pharmacy and the capitalist system when you are not happy with any other view.

Fear plays a huge part in people’s choices going back to the Stone Ages. Fight or Flight. There is no criticism from me in that. Perhaps surprise that so many erstwhile media cynics aligned with MSM and discredit leadership positions but no criticism.

  13. TWO of my Favourite CHANTS from the 1960’s and beyond….

    ” CHAMPIONS of EUROPE”…!

and…” CELTIC CHA, CHA, CHA……..Rangers BOO, BOO, BOO! !

    HH

  14. I never bet but :

4-1 on rangers scoring a pen kinda feels like an investment rather than a bet for tomorrow.

28-1 on both scoring a pen feels like value.

I am fearing a bit of a flat boring draw which will suit both side ok might be the outcome. Weird atmosphere with no away fans and the home fans jittery.

A draw leaves us 4 wins from 7 from a title and leaves them with hope for Hampden.

I really hope I am wrong with that and we get our 100th goal of the season in a 6 goal romp.

  15. ON THIS DAY

Celtic travelled to Tynecastle on this day in 1968 to face Hearts and recorded another vital win in their march to the title that year. The Hoops hadn’t lost since the second game of the campaign and would draw only three games all season. This Hearts game was the 12th in a 16-game winning run-in to the title and the 27,000 crowd saw Jimmy Johnstone open the scoring in the 29th minute. In the 38th minute, it was Bobby Lennox who would tie things up for the Hoops by netting Celtic’s second goal of the game, one of 32 he would score in the 28 league games he played that term.

  16. My friends in Celtic,

General observations prior to our Derby game.

The huns are good for our business model. We need a hate / joke figure and it feels really good to f@ ck them. New or old it’s all the same.

Pesky work stops me going but my wife has been absolutely inundated by family and friends for my ticket.

Recent events: : The house of cards is falling down. Big style.

Years ago this time of year was special. Easter celebrations were huge and family oriented. Stations of the cross was a must.

How times have changed. I feel nostalgic and quite sad about the demise of this great celebration.

However I am at pesky work. You guys need :

Asphalt for the mad pot holes.

    Petrol for your cars

    Diesel for the supporters busses.

    Aviation fuel for your holidays.

    Lubricants for everyday living

    Rubbers. Tee hee

Plastic. According to some plastic bottles are not missiles and OK to launch at players.

    Fertiliser to make your grub.

TV sets for those watching on Saturday

Clothing. These new kits takes a lot of manufacturing

Paint : The GB et al need their wall tags

Eyeglasses: The refs need big ones.

Artificial Turf: Livy and Kilmarnock love them

Toothpaste: To rinse mouth out after sweary words.

    Rope : For any effigies.

Mobiles and computers: To speak to CQN.

All the above need the demonised fossil fuels and will need them for decades to come.

Hail, hail to the thousands of Celtic fans providing the above.

  17. If you were lucky to have a away ticket for the league cup final v Sevco then for me you should be put back to the end of the que,as to allow supporters who missed out on the last ballot,to me that’s the fairest way ,

  18. Big Jimmy,a classic song from the era was Brownsville Station with Smoking in the boys room,I’m disappointed that you never mentioned it, lol.
