When watching Real Mardrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich it is easy to be discouraged at the gap between where we are and the quarter finals of the Champions League, but despite the many hundreds of millions spent on both Paris St Germain and Chelsea, the standard of passing and decision making throughout their game last night was abysmal. Despite their win, PSG were the worst offenders last night, even the Great One was poor.
There is now a real prospect that no English side will make it to the semi-final stage of either European tournament for the first time since 2003, when Liverpool were last to drop out, at the quarter finals stage of the Uefa Cup…….. You’re welcome.
What struck me most watching last night’s game was Sky TV’s Gary Neville pondering how long PSG’s star players would languish in such a poor league. This is the French league we’re talking about here, not the Scottish Premiership, it’s Paris, not the ‘New East End’!
It’s easy to mock Neville but he asks an interesting question, will players always migrate to a higher-profile league? If so, there are more clubs than just Celtic in need of structural change.

Been a while since I was over there.
Got up to the Giants Causeway and that rope bridge, scary.
Will get back some time.
Fair enough Ryecatcher. I would say though that such odious racism is not restricted to Chelsea fans. The much loved Barcelona have their own problems with that issue for example.
BT, Sad to hear about the loss of your friend to Cancer.
Thoughts & Prayers……
Its high time to educate ourselves & raise proper awareness on this killer disease which has an increased death rate of over 100% in the past 100 years.
Rest assured that we all will lose atleast 1 family member or close family friend to this alien fungus which we know so little about throughout any calendar year.

On the subject of Willie Young,he presented the prizes at a golf
tournament in Girvan (his home town) which I was invited to.
Most of the competitors seemed familiar with Willie, that familiar
that when introduced his name was followed by his local lodge
number.
WL made a speech where Di Canio got pelters while insisting
that the only team he was biased against were Killie as he
proclaimed to be an Ayr fan.
If I were to give WL the benefit of doubt on that one then the
only conclusion is he was a rank rotten referee.
Conclusive proof of this was gathered the night at Ibpox
when Stephane Mahe was taken out in their penalty box by
a blatantly late and high challenge.
I was sitting in the front of the Broomland that night.
S.Mahe was as gobsmacked,we all were.
Was WL a crap ref or a bent one ?

T4, did you see my braw wee Bhoy?
Thanks mhate.
Doc, I doubt if there is a group of ‘people’ who are more masochistic than the sado huns. They seem to love going through the same pain again and again. Feckin brilliant watching it over and over.
Does that make me a pervert?
Pog, no, it just makes them stoopid:-)
But you knew that.
Thanks Petec.
Weird to see you here at this time on CQN. It disorientates me. Like when the clocks go forward. My head is spinning.
Our club’s relationship with referees (and officialdom in general) is a real conundrum.
The problem is we are in direct opposition and with good reason. Change will happen but the dilemma is we have been honed through bitter experience to oppose them. I’m the same, probably even more than most if I’m honest.
But continually alienating and opposing will not get us anywhere. In fact it will perpetuate our position.

One of the schools I passed was. St Comgalls
Now who was St Comgalls ? Or is it just an area ?
You drive past some Flegs, then 100 yards later see the school, hence name stuck out
I cannot find any info on a St Comgalls

Looney Tunes… stay tuned.
Ryecatcher
I am no fan of Willie Young but to be fair it was only 1-0 when he sent off the said mutant. He also refused to award a penalty against Hearts in the second last game of the season when Stephen Pressley went down in the box. He instead sent him off. Many other refs would have given the penalty. It was the one and only game I remember Craig Gordon going up for a corner.
Dallas McDonald and Dougal were far worse in my opinion.
Stirling train station is not an easy place to find at night, in the dark, in the pishing rain, in the dark, at night…..when you’ve nae idea where yet bloody goin’!!!!!

I have not watched the race today but a mate told me of the
narrow margin victory. This did not surprise me.
Despite finishing 3rd @ Cheltenham, like many horses they
find it hard to peak again 5 weeks later.
His valiant failure would have taken its toll.
As it did on my wallet.
Ladies day tomorrow at Aintree is just the best day out
at the races anywhere.
Only been once, must do it again.Enjoy.
Doc – Wee Emilio reminds me of a certain CQNer who is fond of Celtic Onesies and rare malts!!!

Malone Bhoy,

Blantyre Tim,
Sincere condolences on the loss of your pal.
May he Rest In Peace.
John O’Neil …
I’m no great lover of Barca or any other Spanish / Catalan team as most people know these teams have been on financial steroids for years. The disappearance / destruction of the blood samples from the anti doping agency certainly raises questions about the high energy levels seen by Spanish elite sportsmen in last 10 years,in my mind anyway.
Barca and the two Madrid teams in particular have dodged social taxes for years in a country with fifty (yes 50) percent youth unemployment in some areas.it is coming home to roost for the miscreants now.Mostly funded by EU taxpayers and banks while the kids on their streets pay the price for generations to come.
Hell mend these clubs when they get what is coming to them.
Incidentally…..a great biography , if you haven’t read it,is ‘Godfather of the Kremlin’ by Paul Klebnikov.
Biographies are so much better than autobiographies.

T4, fair point. I’ll find out if the wee Fhella likes malt.
HT, it’s a straight road if you had followed my detailed directions:-)
Third turn on roundabout then straight. Only 2 other roundabouts in the way!
And straight through them:-)
It was the dark that got you wasn’t it?
Doc
The CSA night is being held in the Kerrydale Suite on May 2 not the Club ?
Wee Emilio
EmbraMike, I know, did I say different?
Sorry.
Pog, that’s my Bhoy, thanks for posting that.
Thanks for the book recommendation Ryecatcher. I have written it down. Oddly enough, I have recently been taking a quick gander at ‘Ten men dead'(hunger strike issue) as well as a Ken Russell biography. Two very different subjects of course! Ken Russell one looks like great fun but I can’t justify taking the time to read it. Other things come first.

I think the blowing up of the flats as part of the opening ceremony of the games is disgusting. I am not sure what it is meant to represent but it doesn’t sit well with me.
Probably to desensitize the people of Scotland in some kinda of prewar ritual
Doc – You said KDS that’s ok.
Now as you’re handing out directions – the stagger from KDS to the Belgrove ??
EmbraMike, no more directions from me, staggering distance though.

You mean thats a Moron that no longer has Oxygen?
DJ67YNWA, clever mhate, liked that.
Doc, all done on the IPad, I stole your picture from your FB page, that I accessed through BT’s FB page, that I found using my FB page, cropped the picture then created the hyperlink.
I did not use the picture you posted on here. Food for thought!
Pog, I made it public, don’t mind such as that being seen, a bit of fun.
I’m careful with the kids fotos and such, but my fissure? Not a bother.
Thanks though.
