Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

The point i am making is that the government could use this event to further their agenda of further curtailing people’s rights.’

I realise that and I agree with you.

The point being that all the electronic surveillance in the world wouldn’t necessarily have prevented this attack.

Agreed, but it may prevent us debating and investigating for ourselves, the next “event” that occurs.

  10. I am sorry that I even engaged in the discussion about the use of the word coward. Firstly, it does distract people from football matters and secondly, it shows a lack of compassion. My last comment on this is that I pray for the young man and his family and I also pray for his attackers.

  25. I posted about Question Time this evening, but it disappeared into the cyber abyss.

I thought Question Time from Belfast was excellent tonight.

The audience and panel members challenged each others views in a highly articulate and respectful way. In previous years audience members would nail their colours to the mast half way through their point and would be supported by ever increasing enthusiastic applause from like minded audience members.

Tonight the subject matters were debated without the flag flying rhetoric.

The divisions are still there in Belfast, some below the surface, some visibly above the surface, but tonight’s QT was encouraging and suggests that the younger generation are leading the way in creating a society where your view is more important than your background.

Excellent stuff tonight. Very encouraging and reflected very well on Belfast of today.

A load of sanctimonious pish being talked tonight. I dont believe anyone on this blog believes that attack to be anything other than barbaric and disgusting.

Whether it was cowardly or not is immaterial. Ernie countered a view, but if you engaged in that discussion then, logically, you felt courage was a key factor. I dont give an ants tadger whether it was deemed cowardly or not – its the deed that matters
