Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

Ask Willie if he would consider a season long deal on pay-per-game basis. Only half-joking BTW!

Does Willie fancy a night out the night? My old mans 60th party and I think he would burst into tears if one of his heroes strolled in!

Please ask Willie who was the most talented up and coming player who didn’t make the impression that he was expected to.

And may I add my thanks to the Great Man for taking the time and trouble to answer all of these questions? HH

There’s two aspects of the killing that must worry the security services.

    1. The ‘up close and personal’ nature of it has shocked people far more than a more professional shooting or bombing would have done, so from the perpetrators perspective it has been very successful and is therefore likely to be repeated.

    2. It required little organisation, planning or resources so is unlikely to be picked up by electronic or other surveillance. An attack could take an hour from conception to execution.

Why the Press and the media outlets let such graphic images be shown, shows to me that, the gloves are off.

  13. Earlier question! Lead up to 6 May 1970 EC Final (Milan). Final games were Fraserburgh (away) – friendly for the Fraserburgh Lifeboat Fund on 28 April ’70. Final game was a home friendly against Stenhousemuir on 1 May ’70. There ya go!

  14. Was behind enemy lines one evening at Airdrie golf club for a Sportsmans dinner and I had the pleasure of meeting Willie Henderson. A gentleman with a brilliant sense of humour; unfortunately the QC was there too-cut from a different cloth!

In a room full of bluenoses and me he raved about Jinky…loved it!

Postman just deliverwed a ltter from Siobhan McMahon MSP direct from Scottish parliament.

Enclosed is a letter from Chief plod dodgy character Stephen House, in response to the concerns she raised about actions by police in the Gallowgate on Sat 16th March.

Basically he claim large crowd intent on disruption, no orginasiers or GB leaders would talk to him blah blah blah ,four pages long.

I must say though Siobhain McMahons response to my concers have been top notch and above and beyond what I expected,

Houses have been nothing less than I expected.

just received from Siobhan McMahon MSP a police account re green brigade complaints.

In total there have bee 72 members of the public who have made complaints either directly to the police or via their MPs, MSPs & local councillors in relation to concerns they have about policing this incident. these concerns vary from complaints about police ‘heavy handedness’ to issues about wasting tax payers money. In the very large majority of cases the complaints have been made are generic & relate to unspecified allegations of misconduct against unspecified officers, mostly ref to video footage seen on TV or on social media sites. Of these34 have refused to engage with police beyond their initial email despite a number of attempts to contact them & 5 have withdrawn their complaint. Of the 33 people who have complained few were actually present at the incident & correspondence has come from all over Scotland & as far afield as the very South of England & even Cyprus. Many of these people are not making specific complaints & merely wish to register their disapproval at alleged treatment of Celtic fans.

I can assure you no one has even attempted to get in touch with me & would be surprised if this wasn’t the case for majority of people who have registered complaints, I would be very surprised if the number of complaints were any where near as few as he has stated?
