If you’ve not been following the work being done in your name in Malawi this week, do so here. 20 people arrived from Scotland early this week on behalf of the Celtic Foundation to renovate six centres which feed children ages five and under. They are also building a latrine (pretty sure this is a toilet) at one of the centres.
It’s another remarkable testament to the ethos of Celtic 127 years after the project started.
The Foundation are in Malawi with Mary’s Meals, the remarkable Scottish charity which is feeding hundreds of thousands of the world’s poorest children each day. By careful management of costs, utilisation of volunteers and ‘vocational’ staff, a remarkably high 93% of their revenue reaches those in need on the ground.
Really good to read Callum McGregor speaking to Celtic media. Not that he had anything particularly illuminating to say, but he was speaking after putting in a training session, confirming his return to fitness.
With the injury to James Forrest, Callum was one of the few bright lights in our early season form, opening the scoring in three consecutive European away games. He even shone in the inept Murryfield performance against Legia.
At the Hearts game last month I overheard someone suggest Callum needed a rest. His form had definitely dipped, which is not uncommon after young players sparkly when first breaking into the team. If he stayed fit there’s little chance he would have been rested for any of the recent games, such has been the form of those around him, so maybe his recent illness came at the right time.

Not a massive fan of McGregor. He takes on a lot of shots which is nice to see but I haven’t seen a great deal outside of a couple of deflected goals etc. Still young and could develop into a talent of course.
I am happier that Lustig & Mulgrew are back in training and could well be in contention for Ross County. I think when Lustig slots in at right back we will have a settled back four and Charlie can bring a bit of discipline into central midfield.
I stand by my prediction of Celtic starting a good run of results come November which will carry us through the Christmas period

You ain’t gonna get a proper manager to work under the present conditions.
Constant downsizing, no say who comes in or out, piss poor wages, relativly, a board that don’t back you, remember the coach saying he don’t like loans, then he gets a whean of them.
No chance to build a team, cos all your saleable players are sold from under you, the loans will go back.
How many proper managers will work under those conditions ?
It wisny that long ago you were giving it out to me for being on Pedro’s back, saying how well the club was being run, and I was talking shite, I well remember.

The other teams in our league will take points off each other. When injuries and suspensions take their toll they will have bad patches. The league race will look tight until January. Clubs will have matches called off. They will lose momentum. Celtic will probably go out of Europe either in the group stage or early next year. We will ship some players out in January and hopefully get another couple in. The team will settle down into Ronny’s thinking and start to click. We will win the league by at least 15 points and hopefully pick up at least one of the two cups. Next season is when I would hope to see some of the exciting football Ronny has promised us.
The planning for next season starts in january. I would hope we get some new players in and identify a few other Bosman signings for the summer.
Celtic have to plan ahead due to the nature of the way the club is run. Last January we failed to do that and for the first time in a few years we had no targets lined up for the summer and no Bosman deals completed. We instead brought in two players who have either gone backwards or not played under Ronny. There is much work to be done but the signing situation needs sorted in January. It is our key market for the following season to fit the club strategy.
