The annual raft of idle speculation unsettling Celtic’s playing and managerial resources is well underway. One newspaper headline today proclaimed, “Celtic boss wants Canaries to approach him”, based on Neil Lennon when talking about moving to England saying, “There has been no offer, there has been no concrete phone call or anything like that, so I haven’t really had a decision to make on it”. Countless others have followed in a similar theme.
Neil Lennon has not really hidden the fact that he would like to manage in the FA Premier League one day, but none of the journos with pages to fill have any notion on his thoughts of dropping a division in England. In the real world, Neil is showing no reticence in pursuing team development plans for next season. We’ll be involved in Champions League football two months from tomorrow, the manager is busy on the matters in hand.
Best wishes to John Brown for his inspired attempts to take down Newco Rangers. More power to you, John, I hope you have any many lemmings lined up as possible. Some months ago the plotters had a notion that they would starve Newco shareholders into handing over the club for zilch, or £1 less than Rangers were sold to a liquidation expert for. It remains possible that Sevco will starve, but notions that there will be an outcome for the plotters which is more desirable than an existence under the current crew are fading by the day.
Don’t forget, we’ve Tommy Gemmell, live on the blog, on Friday between 13:00 and 16:00. He’ll be here to chat and answer your questions.

“A proposal was made by Mr Wallace that whilst the board would not grant a security they could consider a legally binding undertaking which would protect Ibrox from sale, sale and leaseback or as any form of security for a loan or other finance.”
I’m thinking of coming up with the same type of undertaking about Glasgow City Chambers.
What do you mean I don’t own them?
Party in Seville anyone….?
Bada Bing
Good one.
Darn predictive text it catches me every time! Mbia?
Well done Sevilla!
Sevilla win Cup
The Benfica curse in Europe continues. 8 UEFA finals lost since the ’60s. Long-suffering fans indeed!
Twists- as you say GK allowed to come off his line, right on top of the taker, very small target to hit.
And the curse continues……….. http://wp.me/p1G95H-17
I’m never confident when a left footed player takes a penalty…notice I didn’t say left footer :)
Bela Guttman strikes again, just another 48 years to wait for Benfica.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Evening Exiled Tim.
Isn’t it about time you shared with the rest of the long suffering Tims your secret to a hun free domain?
Deodorant?
An army of scarecrows holding icons?
If the taker can stop his run then the keeper should be able to come off his line.
imo
Got to feel sorry for benfica. They had enough chances to win the game. Some good defending from sevilla.
8 defeats in euro finals must be hard to take

I’d have saved this first penalty ( number 5 of the best 5 ever). Keeper is a disgrace:-)))
My Benfica friend Hilario will be a broken man yet again tonight. What have they done to deserve such fate?

Location, tis all about the location.

They should’ve paid the man what he was worth.
Hell escudo it intae thum!
BT – agreed. Was there not a directive introduced a few years ago outlawing the ‘stuttering’ run up?

I thought the keeper was gonna tackle Cordoza on the penalty spot
Also the guy who scored the winning pen should have been shown a red early in the game when his very late tackle ended up with the flying winger subbed
Those scenes just make me think that Celtic lost out on a run in Europe past a Christmas due to our own vanity.
We should have played more cautiously and looked for at least a 3rd place finish. This tournament is winnable with Celtics budget. We should be using the latter stages to build a team capable of going further in the big cup while keeping fans interested. More money in, more occasions better players, raise the profile.
The trick is finishing 3rd in the champions league but others seem to manage it.
Try telling those Sevilla fans and players this tournament doesn’t matter.
John O’Neill
Im sure he doesnt find it in the least bit ‘hilarious’
B-)
Ok theres my coat im away to my pit

I wonder if ‘the agreement’ will say anything about the transfer of assets to the parent company. It’s the route I’ve suggested they might use before. Probably wrong though. I usually am.
BTW – little sympathy for this Benfica team (although do have some for the long-suffering fans). Yet another team from Portugal who take theatrics to another level – ref fell for absolutely none of it, though.
Watching footbal in Portugal would be terribly frustrating – great skill, good pace, attacking football – completely spoiled by all the diving and feigned injury.

You are allowed to take a stutter in the run up, but not stop. When the ball is reached you cannot stop. Not arguing the merits of the ruling, I’m arguing the atrocious administering of the current rules by the officials. The extra official is standing on the goal line 2 yards outside the post. The keeper goes 2 yards off his line before the ball is touched. They award the goal?????
For no reason at all apart from loving Celtic

They don’t order the retake I meant to say??
What’s the point of the rule, or, the guy on the line?
Og. Is he hanging on to a helicopter?
Wtf is it with that f@ndan Seville player … With his shirt on backwards so his name is on show to the cameras
Racatic was signed for 2.5 m euros. The bargains are still out there –

Put the factory on short time that week :-)
Productivity will be rubbish anyway and all you will hear is 1966. It’s not like we go on about 1967 :-)

ET, yep, I came to the same conclusion.
Interesting article from John Pilger in today’s Guardian about Ukraine. Despite not agreeing with everything he wrote, his points about the fascists were correct. A lot of anti Russian racism seems to be growing, especially within the biased BBC.
Eurovision was a freakshow.
What else? Still not happy about Samaras leaving. Celtic better prepare well for Europe.
Anything else? Yes: Belarus. No way are the women carrying too much facial hair. They ain’t hounds. If you dig those Soviet ways, I am told it is a curious place. Let you know when I get there.
That’s all from me. Night all.

No helicopters needed in those days and no helicopters needed in these days. Funny how the more things change the more they stay the same
Rakatic deserves a winner’s medal for that magnificent pass he played to put the striker through on the ‘keeper. Pity Bakka missed. It would’ve been some goal!
CRC
That’s an idea!
What happened in 1967:-))
CRC, I got a nice wee payout tonight from the CQN predictor, so thanks very much to yourself and the good Doc, I can imagine it takes a helluva work to organise and administer that on a weekly basis. Thanks again.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope you are having another one next season. If I can help in any way whatsoever, just say the word.
Someone thumbed my Sammi tribute down? Good Lord … *laugh*

A very informative and interesting Open Meeting at the London Rd Social Club this evening.
Even better knowing that those in attendance aren’t hand picked beforehand, questions don’t require to be submitted for vetting prior to the event and an assurance that the minutes will actually be published.
