Midweek change for Celtic

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

I hope that the SFA are exposed, I’d also like all the ones that are Brothers in All the Clubs, to be expunged.

The Scottish Supporters of all Clubs were sickened by the SFA/Rangers alliance. It doesn’t take many to control the masses.

There may only be 200 or 300 at certain teams grounds, and many want them obliterated, the fact is, they are real hardcore supporters.

It is Time to get the Malignant and destructive influences out of Every Boardroom in Scottish Football, IMO.

We’ve all got our own views on the fat coward in charge of the huns, but the best satirical musician, and tim hero through the past years sums up our pie faced hero here better than…………………………………anyone else could.

  11. When ex- players say we need them it is because they think we need competition.

We do need competition and we are not getting it in Scotland. If you believe that it is impossible for Celtic to get a move then you would never have believed that Rangers would be liquidated and their successor club would be in the lower divisions with both Edinburgh clubs.

As long as they survive in one form or another – like that Evil guy in the Harry Potter movies – then Scottish football will cling to the belief that they will at some point provide us with competition.

However when they are gone for good Scottish football will wake up to the fact that the only way to create genuine competition in the Scottish game is for Celtic to depart.

    That’s the End Game.

    Agreed.

  13. You can count me as definitely being on the side of those who want the huns dead and gone forever. I have fought against these people and all they stand for, in a football sense, all my adult life. Most of them are nasty, bigoted and hate everything I believe in so allow me to respond to them in my own way.

As for ex players their views don’t matter to me although if they had travelled to games under the same hassles we had to put up with they may have different views. I am really not looking forward to the semi final as these clowns will be looking to settle old scores as they really think they have been hard done to. Truly despicable people in the main.

Some crazy chat going on tonight. Joe Miller? Really? Let’s not stick it to the wee fella I saw smash one in the stanchion from the jungle. Wee Joe’s alright man.

Some gems from Auldheid that required a second and third read and some side adventures on the broader inter webs. Good man as always.

DD and his comments? Throw away comments, nothing more. Give the chap a break, he’s playing golf. The shit I’ve said to yanks over here about Bush on a golf course. Stop it. To be honest the five fingered fa plan or whatever it’s called. Of course we would contribute, we have to be at that table. Being part of a group discussing them doesn’t make us (DD) the devil. He knows his enemies and which ones he has to be friends with.

Paul67 Leader about the time for running and a time to be sitting thinking is spot on. Sod off to the haters of that. More relevant right now due to the changes the club is going through, both on and off the green stuff. Excited to see what comes of this time. We all should be.

LG. Good on him for grabbing a cheeky wee brace on a road trip. Probably taking all the young kids money at poker on the bus home now. Only thing to like about the wee scallywag is that he hates Hertz.

Sally, Ashley, Stupid, Huns. SASH. Wow! Who knew.

All the dots are still being joined. We all know, the media and them know, but they have to deny. They are programmed like Daleks. Why are we watching a long drawn out funeral? That shouldn’t be fun. But, yeah, it is this time. Why do we on here sometimes argue over what the best second death for them is, or why our chaps are complicit in the newco teams rise. What rise? Who rose? Thought it was Christmas not Easter. It’s good. It’s life. I think.

Not all the dots will get joined though, there are dots they will not allow to be joined this time around. We have to keep talking and exposing the skipped facts, takes time. Look at Cuba? Oops. Politics.

Slate wee Joe for not getting up on a soap box and saying what we would say. Goodnight career.

    Mental.

Not long till the RC game now, my first in more years than I care to say. Can’t wait. Hopefully see the benefit of this weeks mid week session.

How many Celtic supporters need to die in sectarian attack before they understand ?

  23. acgr,

Not only did they want us dead and buried, they and their acolytes sent hearses up to Kerrydale Street to mock us but among their merriment, they never reckoned with Wee Fergus.

I clearly remember a radio discussion on a Saturday afternoon on either Clyde or Shortbread and Archie McPherson was on discussing with the usual suspects of the day, and none of them were Celtic-minded, how rangers had moved so far ahead of everyone else in Scotland that it was a necessity for them to move to another league for the good of the game. No thought of the potential damage to the league or those left behind, what a contrast to us being told now, just how much we need them. Rangers then, now and whatever phoenix or dragon version appears next will always look after themselves first and with little or no thought for any of the other actors on the stage, it has always been thus.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget the pain of the early nineties.

We don’t need them, we need to be well shot of them. They are a stain on our club and our history. Their anti-catholic policy should have been enough to close them down in any civilised country and yet they are still here. Crippled, but still here.
