Midweek change for Celtic

940

Busy article today, watch out for notes at the bottom on:

Magners ticket competition for 27 December
Mary’s Meals Malawi school kitchen appeal
CQN Annual, final few posting days before…..
CQN Christmas Raffle – winners have been drawn

One of the resources Ronny Deila has been short of since taking over is training days.  Players have stamina, fitness and speed training work to do every week, while there’s rest time before and after games, so time to work on technical aspects are a premium.

Believe it or not, this is the first midweek Celtic haven’t had a game, or players away on international duty, since the second week of July.  The manager has spoken of how difficult it has been to carry out the extensive tactical changes he has introduced spending only stolen minutes working on them.  The January break will give him another opportunity to spend hours with the players on tactical work.

Apparently newco are keeping McCoist as some kind of blubber human shield for Monday’s AGM!  Nice one.  There’s nothing degrading about that, very classy in fact.  Really disappointed for Ally, I’m sure he could almost taste the £400k he’s counting on – to go quietly.  Let’s hope he puts on a show on Monday and they sort him out thereafter.

It’s almost worth buying a newco share to get along on Monday.  Almost.

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any attention to the man who’s apparently lined-up to replace McCoist next week, Billy Davies.  After his interesting second stint at Nottingham Forest ended earlier this year, The Guardian wrote:

“[Davies] has paid the price for failing to control a personality which latterly seemed to have crossed the border into downright paranoia.

“[He] could never quite escape his self-destructive insecurities.”

It’s not often you read a national newspaper liberally speculating on the mental health, or lack thereof, of an individual.

Failing to control his personality, downright paranoia, self-destructive insecurities!  He’s perfect.  Is there a job in the land this guy is more suited for than newco’s manager?

Our pals at Magners have kindly offered a pair of premium seat tickets to the Jock Stein Stand at the home game on 27 December in support of our Mary’s Meals appeal.  You can win the tickets by email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com the answer to the question:

Who do Celtic play on 27 December?

Competition closes at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) so get your entry in.

If you’re entering the competition please consider donating £1 to Mary’s Meals here, where we are hoping to build a kitchen at a school in Chibwata, Dowa, Malawi, for their 909 children.

I’d a look at John Guidetti’s interview with Magners this week, he looks like he’s enjoying himself……..

We’ve drawn the CQN Christmas Raffle, winner of the Special Whisky and CQN Package is ticket number 976, from a lucky reader based in Lythm, we’ll be in touch.

The four runners up all win CQN Packages with ticket numbers 1072, 974, 1190 and 1051, check your tickets, we’ll be in touch soon.

Still time to order your 2015 CQN Annual for Christmas.

You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

    Five good things that happened today:

    1. Leigh Griffith offering to by xmas pressies for a mini hun who was robbed.

    2. Leigh Griffith scoring two goals in a Celtic victory.

    3. Sipsini finally coming to terms with his sexuality and realising nobody on CQN cares that he’s gay.

    4. Ally McCoist, just because he is.

    5. The Bulgarian FA standing right behind Alex Tonev.

    A good day all round.

    No1 is news.

    The rest is passé as fek!

    Ok, sips darling. I’ll be up in a second to scrub your back.

    There’s some on here that were born when the German composer E H wrote hansel and gretal !!

  3. Ex players have no real power.

    Glasgow Celtic Football Club do.

    Celtic have never challenged Sevcos stated belief that they are the same club with their history in tact.

    Celtic should be challenging the SFA,

    UEFA, The SPFL, and the Rangers.

    They are selling us short.

    Frank McGarvey was the guest speaker at the CQN golf outing this year. During the Q&A I asked him if he thought the huns were necessary in our league given the cheating and destruction they’ve caused the game in the past.

    His answer was emphatic yes. Regardless of what the huns have done and what they will do in the future should their club ever achieve parity with Celtic, these ex players all want them in our league.

    I don’t think any less of Frank McGarvey now but I was a bit pissed off at his answer on the night.

    Come to think of it, Ger57 looked like he was about to loupe over his table and take the Frank oot. As luck would have it, someone pointed out it was Gerry’s round and he disappeared to the mens room for a while. A long while it was too.

  6. Jet Harris and Tony Meehan – Diamonds

    Never ever heard of them or the record, but was No1 when I came along

  7. Sipsini

    Now that was a response

    Eagerly awaiting ACGR ‘s now, he’s maybe in the toilet with Ger57 :-)

    That’s it? The best you can do?

    Are you saying on the strength of these answers to questions put by the MSM that CQN should have blacklisted Joe Miller?

    He was signing a book on one night in Stirling. The book – Caesar & The Assassin – is about Celtic under Billy McNeill and Davie Hay. Joe Miller was an important figure in the period covered in the book.

    I’ll let Joe know you didn’t take me up on the chance to debate the matter with the man himself.

    Maybe the likes of McGarvey, McAvennie, Walker, Provan and Miller would think a bit differently if they`d spent hard earned money and time going to watch Celtic home and away in games that were ultimately bent by the Huns cheating.

    And these guys still want the Huns back even though its apparent that the Huns are still as corrupt as before – still cheating, paying out money they don`t have on a bloated squad of ex-SPL players even though they need monthly cash injections from Mike Ashley just to keep the lights on.

    Meantime our major shareholder says how much he misses the Huns and the CEO bemoans the £10 million hole he says their absence creates in our accounts.

    And yet some in our support think we have the moral high ground.

    Yer last paragraph was a belter! Very unkind,and totally untrue,but very funny.

  13. Auldheid. Where did I say it’s celtics job to kill off Rangers? I never said that. But it seems celtic think it their job to save them.

    That’s a big difference.

    But let’s all be ostriches and pretend it’s not happening.

    Is it too hard to face for most of you?

    Ex player after ex player line up, as if on queue.

    They are trying to kid us.

    As for the 10m quid. That loss of season books and the 100 quid? Well if we had tried to have a good team perhaps we wouldn’t have needed too. Putting everything down to the Huns absence and not down to the lack of ambition of celtic is missing the point entirely.

    But it strikes me that cqn do snt want to ask hard questions anymore?

    The ‘back of the bus’ comments really do my head in. Victimhood crap.

    Celtic aren’t victims anymore. Thanks to honest endeavours – unlike others, we had no choice – we have established ourselves as the most important club in Scotland (not a great title but…).

    We now have prestigious figures on our board, appreciate them. The alternative would be much worse.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I agree with you there, but, it must be remembered that Every Celtic Fan is as important as any one person on the Celtic Board.
    Every Celtic Player or Manager must be supported, especially when the attacks are so concerted. Prestigious figures means nothing to me if we don’t defend our very own Support.
    I was astonished after the Slaughter of so many school children in Pakistan that the Scottish Sun had the Tonev guilty of racism (or words to that EFFECT) Splattered all across their front page.
    Now that is a deep seated and relentless hatred that is ingrained in the Established way of things in Scotland. That was incredibly sick as Scotland had the terrible Dunblane tradgedy.
    “The best I can do”? – its not a competition. I`m not trying to do my best.
    You asked how you were supposed to know Joe Miller had Sevco friendly sympathies, I pointed out a couple of articles pre November this year that attributed Sevco-friendly soundbites to him; where he is quoted as arguing that Sevco getting to a cup final would somehow boost Scottish football.
    (To the detriment of clubs such as Aberdeen who actually pay out only what they can afford in wages without getting bailed out on a monthly basis)
    I`m more than happy to put my points to Joe Miller anytime you can get him onto CQN.
    is it not interesting its ex Celtic players
    authenticating them
    talking of missing them
    all safely done within the confines of not calling out the david murray inspired fraudulent finance
    I would have also said thanks but no thanks to Willie Wallace, Bertie Auld, Tommy Gemmell, Davie Hay and Billy McNeill – that lot never did enough for Celtic to forgive their lack of dogma.
