Aye,they all know more about football than I do.

That’s why I trust Brendan Rodgers. He also knows more about football than I do. And he has a genuine and enduring love for our club. Not so sure the others do,and I’m genuinely concerned that you don’t either.

Pity, really. The moment when love turns to hate, just so you can be proven right.

Like James Forrest, I noticed that he has added some muscle to his upper body.

Overall, a major factor in our improvement is the very high fitness levels in the team.

This is something we have been striving for since Neil Lennon’s time, faster, fitter, etc., but it is only now that it has materialised.

  18. The rush to place Sevco second best is reaching fever pitch in Sevconia, and can only be a good thing for Hearts and Aberdeen who both he remain favourites for early toil and Europa League qualifier elimination. Meanwhile the ‘journey’ has been long and arduous for SMSM, repeating ‘old firm’ ad nauseum, fantasy transfer war chests, and no story makes propaganda hard copy.

If they keep saying Sevco second often enough like ‘old firm’ they might even get a reaction from UEFA, or is that what they are tempting?

The licence debate is the same debate as resolution 12 and the more its polarised the better, even to the extent of Sevco in second, bring it on, I say. The masonic Scottish cabal that’s paying under the table soft loans to beat Hearts and Aberdeen are all the same friends in football , all of them diametrically opposed to our unique club.

With an international convict already en board as a real Rangers man at the helm of the original sunken Rangers, what could possibly go wrong? if you think the bears are angry now, just wait for the sash to really hit the fan when the are second, second, second, second, and second.

  19. Regarding good performances on Saturday, I thought Callum Mcgregor was pivotal in the second half. I’ve always maintained that while he is not a man for all seasons, he his a very useful man over the course of our season, in the right situations. IMO he has value to this team…just not every match.

Anyway, very recently a poster on here said of McGregor that there was a “hun looking out of him” or similar. He didn’t play like no hun or celebrate like one on Saturday.

  22. If Bankier, Lawwell and Co had been around in 1888 Celtic would have never got off the ground, imo.

Remember our heroes would still have poor RD in charge if we hadn’t of lost to Sevco on penalties…

  23. I am almost always of the view that those in any business know much more about it than those who are not . Stuart Armstrong being played wide ( by Ronny) baffled me but I remained true to my general view that he knew better. Now, with Stuart in his best position, I realise that the pro`s can get it wrong sometimes and the supporters can be right. Only, however, on very few occasions.

    Davidopolous

I agree with your assessment. Callum McGregor is a very handy player to have available. Whereas SA looks the type who could be good all the time ( like Broonie), Callum is less consistent but he does offer originality in his style.

Incidentally, it will be interesting to see how Stuart Armstrong performs against Dundee ( no Broonie).

D can I just clear something up. I don’t feel that I am on here defending myself at all. All I am trying to do is to clear up some kind of misunderstanding that has gone badly wrong somewhere and which has gone way down a wrong road.

Kil Ultra seems to think that we have derailed Res 12 and generally mishandled the whole situation and let the original subscribers etc down by somehow letting Celtic PLC off the hook.

In my own case, from what I can gather, he sees my prior knowledge of Michael Nicholson to be suspicious or nefarious in some way, and according to Auldheid he also believes that I was in some way planted into the whole thing by the board presumably to do the boards bidding.

I have no idea where that notion comes from but it is wholly wrong in every way and all I can do is say that plainly.

Obviously, if someone makes a formal representation about you in a letter which is completely untrue or is not the whole story, or is worthy of greater explanation or comment, then you reserve the right to correct that. It doesn’t mean that what the person wrote is necessarily incorrect or a lie, they may very well believe what they write but have based their conclusions on incorrect information or on information that is not complete etc.

In this instance I have no dealings with the board of Celtic PLC other than in relation to Res 12 and that came about at the request (as I recall) of Auldheid, Morrissey, Canamalar and one or two others.

With regard to change management and the infamous Valley of Dispair, as you will be aware in management you get those who are willing to adopt change and those who have to be cajoled into it.

In this instance, from the outset it has been clear that Celtic PLC want change within the workings of the SFA and it is the quest for change, transparency, and accountability that is behind Res 12.

Where it gets very very complicated is in relation to how anyone gets answers to specific questions in relation to the licensing processes in 2011/2012 and even 2012/2013.

There are things that Celtic PLC just can’t deal in – such as correspondence and papers which do not emanate from or have been sent to Celtic Park by the footballing authorities, and which are likely to feature as evidence in any number of ongoing court cases.

Celtic take their own legal advice and, surprise surprise, they follow that advice in certain regards.

Shareholders are legally in an altogether different position as they can reference certain material whilst still being careful not to fall foul of any behaviour which would prejudice or have an undue influence upon the same court cases or proceedings. Again professional advice has been sought from solicitors, counsel and experts, and so you then rely on that advice in attempting to reason out why certain things should be answered. Only when you get an answer can you consider the content.

The SFA and UEFA also take advice, sometimes external advice, and they too reply in couched and professionally considered terms.

    So far, so good.

Where change comes in, is in the situation where football authorities such as the SFA and UEFA (and indeed their member clubs) openly state that they want things to be open and transparent as possible but at the same time have written duties of confidentiality to their member clubs – which all the clubs insist on.

In this instance what that means is that the SFA/UEFA will not discuss any detail or correspondence involving a member club with shareholders or fans generally and especially not with the shareholders of another club. What they have said is that they will only respond to an enquiry from and through another club.

Does that mean they will give that member club all the answers? No it doesn’t as they may very well respond to a club enquiry by saying here is what happened but we are not going into any detail because the correspondence between us and the club concerned is confidential.

My bet is that Celtic, like any other football club, will agree with this stance because they would not want fans of another club to be able to go to the SFA or UEFA and be provided with details of Celtic’s private mail etc.

So, how do you get round this position? At the moment we are discussing the apparent differences in events as set out by UEFA and the SFA at various times. If those differences are clear and require further clarification and explanation then either shareholders or the club will make further inquiry as was always intended by the resolution.

However, further consideration has to be given to the events that will unfold in 2017, many of which were completely unforeseen in 2013. Specific charges have been brought about the tax bill which is at the heart of the Res 12 issue, and it is likely that evidence will become available and freely in the public domain which can then legitimately be used by anyone (including Celtic PLC) as part of any enquiry being made to the SFA or beyond.

Similarly, once the EBT case is absolutely finished (one way or another) the evidence adduced by that process (either at the start or as a result of the appeal) can be openly referenced and put to the footballing authorities.

For example: Sir David Murray told the FTT that the use of EBT’s (whether the DOS scheme or any other) was wholly designed to enable Rangers to pay for players who they could otherwise not afford. That is his stated position.

Both UEFA and the CAS have dished out punishments to other football clubs where it has been shown that those clubs failed to pay taxes or embarked upon schemes which were designed to gain an unfair sporting advantage. One such case also saw the book being thrown when the club concerned stated that tax bills were in dispute when in fact they were not.

At this juncture, it is not clear how we or anyone else can legitimately access all the information which shows whether or not a similar situation arose in Scotland in 2011. There is a pretty damning series of correspondence which suggests that it did but legally that correspondence cannot be accessed or referred to at this point in time. Nor can the SFA/SPFL embark on a further inquiry (to replace Nimmo Smith) at this moment because of what is happening elsewhere.

However, that will eventually change and the time will come when football in all its forms will have to face the question “what are we going to do now?”.

The Res 12 process is in the van of trying to force change because doing what they did before (namely a commission with limited terms of reference which sought to exclude the DOS scheme, protect Campbell Ogilvie, and which ignored large chunks of evidence) is simply not an option.

The question is whether or not any such commission will have a fan involvement or representation (as has been suggested by other fan based pressure groups) or whether football will just want the whole thing to stay “in-house”.

If it is the latter, then we will continue to see fan sent correspondence being dealt with along the lines of the ultimate answers we obtained, namely sorry but we only answer to the clubs.

To change that, if that be the objective, is very tricky and will require the patience of a saint.

I fully respect the right of any business to have their detailed finances and compliance provisions kept confidential but at the same time can see that the paying customer (shareholder or not) deserves the clear right to know and be assured that the rules are being fairly applied and are being adhered to across the board.

How you marry those two juxtaposed ideals pragmatically and procedurally is where the real difficulty lies.

Well, I for one am very grateful you have taken the time in the last couple of days to express all the points you have just mentioned so clearly. This type of thing will hopefully add more focus to the wider Res12 discussion, particularly as it will help anyone interested in the discussion about any potential FFP scandal in a few months time.

You make very good points about correspondence that can/can’t be accessed or relied upon due to confidentiality provisions, or the manner in which they have come into the public domain. It is understandable that the process would be delayed under such circumstances.
