Moussa’s Target Practice Torags, slump must end soon

842

You and I will miss our football this weekend but the winter break came at an excellent time for Celtic. They get to rest after an arduous nine game December on the back of handing Newco a lesson on their own pitch. Having to sit for three weeks, unable to get a defeat out your system, would have been torture.

Celtic have already played 36 competitive games this season (only one against lower league opposition). That’s close to a full league programme concertinaed into a little over five months. Add in the fact that almost the entire squad is involved in some form of international football and you realise the players have been on match duty twice a week since preseason.

This is exceptional and not conducive to delivering top performances. By comparison, Aberdeen have played 30 games (two against lower league teams) and Newco have played 28 (five against lower league sides). That’s eight and 10 times we’ve played two challenging games a week more than our direct opponents – neither of whom are particularly burdened by international football.

The second half of the season will be more balanced. We only have three midweek games scheduled, including our game in hand – so you can be reasonably confident our “slump” will end soon………..

We all remember the days when someone talking about putting in a £20m offer for a Celtic player would be held in a locked room until a deal was signed. We’ve been on a long road since, but the financial stability we’ve earned through many tough years affords us the ability to keep players who have several years to run on their contracts.

As for Moussa, I hear if we can arrange for him to play against the Target Practice Torags every week, he’d extend his contract until 2027.

Really enjoying the dissonance in some places over the anticipated approval of Kouassi Eboue’s work permit. Play by the rules, work inside areas you are allowed to and pay your dues. It’s not difficult.

By now you should be aware of The Road to Lisbon project. 28 cyclists will set off from Celtic Park on 11 May, arriving in Lisbon in time for the 50th anniversary of the Lions’ triumph. It is an immense project which is expected to raise tens of thousands for Celtic FC Foundation, Solving Kids Cancer and Children in Crossfire.

An opportunity exists for corporate sponsorship of the project. If you would like more information, look here, or email, theroadtolisbonmay2017@gmail.com

What Celtic news is actually breaking at the moment?

The team are in Dubai, the huns are in deep doodoo.

The board haven’t done anything outrageous in the last 15mins.

So tell us what we should be talking about?

Also e-tims for serious Celtic talk!

You mentioned the board, who I think are doing a very good job (apart from standing up for the fans more) I am pretty sure Peter Lawell must have had a hand in the Moussa Dembelle signing (obviously the negoations) did Ronny sign Moussa or Brendan as am pretty sure young Moussa signed a precontract a few months before Ronny 4&5 left …. just asking if Brendan was already in the know

Before it happened I worried about Kieran being injured, but I have to say since his return that Izzy has been more like the Izzy we used to have before that Aberdeen thug bust his leg.

Izzy is worth an honourable mention

Etims was always a site I liked – it had some pf the feel of early NTV but it seemed to go out of fashion a few years ago. I used to read Keep The Faith- the guy who started it was brought up in the same street as me- but it has been gone for years. This blog has great contributors, some fine articles and the Res 12 contributors are beyond mere admiration. Sometimes I think it suffers most from being ‘not as good as it used to be’ syndrome though. As I and others have said it it what we make it.

As for JJ. Never been sure about him. He writes well but he sends out confusing signals. Worth reading though.

I intentionally worded the list to exclude the bhoy who has the ability to maybe wear the maestros boots, young Armstrong is fresh in the memory for the last 6-8 weeks am talking about since the Red Imps :-)

  8. Hunderbirds 8.30.

That has to be my favourite post for a while on here.

I love CQN because of its diversity and find it educational.

My health can be a struggle at times and the blog saves my sanity at times, it also drives me round the twist too :-)))

I’ve mailed Paul 67 in the past and he has been kind to me, despite being so busy, he took the time out to find out a bit about my illness, which is more than a GP did, I’m being serious there, and Paul sent me a very supportive mail. I hope I haven’t embarrassed him there.

Another one for the topic list is schools. A lot of us talk about schools. My wife has said she thinks my school sounds like Borstal. :-)).

Sweets lists Toffo and Mint Toffo for me.

You are absolutely right. How could I?

A simple omission error? Or something more sinister? Hmmmmmm ;)

I have no idea who scouted or signed Moussa, blessed be his name, I only introduced the board as an example of how little Celtic news there was out there to discuss instead of refreshers and opal fruits.

    BTW

The blessed be his name is just a play on Henrik and the King of Kings title, is Moussa Muslim?

Incidentally my post wasn’t meant to be disparaging about your comments. Reading back my post, I was slightly worried that it came across like that.

To a degree I understand where you are coming from. However there are still lots of good posters on here. Not sure about a John James though, I am suspicious of him, things don’t add up.

Like you I don’t care who signed Moussa, the bhoy is only going to get better, loved the article about him giving the kids Celtic tops, personally I think Leigh is the better goal scorer and I would play the Griff every minute if every game :-)

JNP – we all take a wee bit of Celtic comfort in the old Cqn, hopefully I try and stay away from the serious stuff but if everybody plays the ball and not the man it should be ok, wouldn’t expect anything less from our host but your still posting so in my way of thinking your glass is always half full :-)

  17. Top 3 for the season so far.

    1. Broony.

    2. Stuart Armstrong

    Even funnier.

I read your post and scrolled back to see what numptie posted Melissa Dembele.

Then I realised it was me !!!!!!!!

I hope Hamilton Tim or Smashingmilkbottles aren’t lurking or I will get it tight.

  19. Hello again, getting a bit concerned as I visited all the departments stores as a boy and then went on to sell to all of them, Bremners, Goldbergs, Trerons, Watt Bros, Lewis’s as a young sales person. Definitely getting on a bit.

As for Dees, that was some place. I spent many hours in there trying to make a few quid, they were always too sharp for me. They had a shop in Clydebank as well.

I am glad it’s all a bit light hearted on here at the moment, why does it have to be a place of rancour and division? It’s a good time to be a Celtic family member.

  20. Very amiable on here just now but! Who was the last man to have a “FLOUNCE” we’ve not had one of them for a while

In relation to you post about autocorrect. I always said that the phone was smarter than me and that autocorrect was designed to make me look even dumber than I really am.
