One lesson on what happens when you undermine your manager in the days before facing Celtic was not enough for Newco, who today let it be known Steve Gerrard is on their shortlist when they tell Graeme Murty he will not retain the job.
One of the worst things for a football club is irrelevance, so this chat about Gerrard has achieved some merit – they are being reported. The ‘news’ may or may not have more substance than earlier news, that Derek McInnes was about to be appointed manager, but giving your supporters reason to believe they are relevant is worth something.
The seven thousand or so who will attend Celtic Park on Sunday (they should be there for the start of the game at least, although they tend to leave en-mass on conceding the fourth goal) will have a sprint in their step for the future. It may even sustain them through what could be a harrowing Celtic experience, comforted in the knowledge that whatever happens, the future is yet to be mapped out.
This plays out differently in the dressing room. Graeme Murty’s authority has been shot. No wonder players can openly question the manager’s ability. Even if this leaking of part of the short list sells a few season tickets, it will do nothing for the team on Sunday, much like Bitcoin bonus codes.
Murty must tactically prepare a team to deny Celtic the chance to win the championship. On his day, he is capable of achieving this, on two occasions now he has taken a point from Celtic Park. But these results were achieved when he arrived on the Celtic Way ahead of a united and embattled squad, with the support of board and fans. Not the players don’t want him, the fans don’t want him and the board don’t even consider the task ahead of him when writing to fans or speaking to the media.
Steven Gerrard is, of course, another Celtic fan/brother and would become Newco’s third successive manager with these credentials. He has been a regular at Celtic games for years. You would be forgiven for regarding this persistent policy as flattery. I don’t see any problems with the appointment.
Raffle to play in an 11-a-side game at Celtic Park
An incredible opportunity to play on the hallowed turf at Celtic Park around the end of the current season 2017-18, in Club sponsor Intelligent Car Leasing’s match.
You will be provided with complimentary Celtic kit and receive the full match-day experience including arrival through the front door, access to the dressing room and proudly walking down the tunnel to enter the famous field of play.
Both squads will be managed by a former Celtic player. Date 16 May, 11:00 kick off. All monies raised will be donated to Celtic FC Foundation, a registered Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (number SC024648).
To enter the raffle, make a minimum donation of £5 to the Foundation at this MyDonate page. Then send your donation confirmation email to this address: celticquicknews@gmail.com
The opportunity to play on Celtic Park is just beyond words. I did it a few years ago, the memories will live forever, as will the photographs. The experience of preparing in the dressing room, as so many greats have done before, was fabulous.
You can enter for yourself, or gift the prize to someone you know aged 18 or over. Competition closes at 15:00 this Friday, 27th.
Good luck!

Mick,,cracker and what are the chances.
I recall there was a sticker thing going in the petrol stations maybe early 80s and if you got the player and the club badge he played for you won money,,decent money.
You probably remember it better than me.
Any we had a load of Celtic badges and we needed the Tommy Burns sticker or a load of them preferably.
Where it came from I dont know but somehow we ” discovered ” that in Scotland it was the other was around ,,they all had Tommy stickers and were looking for the badge,,and there was us with loads of badges!
We were gonna be minted if we could just get to Scotland to the petrol station and start swopping with everyone.
Mates da was a lorry driver and we asked for a lift to Scotland for something like 10 percent of the take.
He got us to tell the whole story.
I think upon hearing the whole thing he cracked one of those tennents cans and was too busy laughing to even glance at yer woman. ;)
The innnocence of youth eh.
Take care and Hail Hail

Colin Hay sings his som=ng “Overkill” in Brooklyn, NYC with the ChoirChoirChoir folks.
The singers practice the song under a conductor/musical director then Colin appears and they give it a bash.
Sounds awesome to my old ears.
His band of course was “Men At Work”

Good morning, friends and a Big Happy Friday to you all.
Now just 2 more sleeps until we take to the park for our second attempt at securing our 7th (SEVENTH) league title in a row. And then just 2 more after that until we try to complete the Double Treble.
A Happy Weekend lies ahead.
Jobo
Good morning from a pleasant sunny Clydebank. I fancy that this weekend will be just champion.

DBBIA
Even I know that tune?
Met Dick Byrne in town last week, he is in fine fettle
I’m thinking this week DBBIA has mostly been listening to Abby Road
Good morning from a gloriously sunny Dumbreck, Mordor’s fires have been extinguished.
So the Daily Ranger claiming Stevie Clarke told sevco to ram it now they’ve turned to Stevie G.
Whit’s Stevie G daein Tom, whit’s Stevie G daein?
Also who is deciding on player acquisition at the Doomdome if McGregor and Arfield have ‘agreed’ terms and Murty is getting his jotters?
As I said I smell ?
Canalamar, and thinking of ole Pabbers.
B/TIM, good to hear about the ole auldhand.
It was your round, I trust?
Gooood morning good ghuys from a sunny North Glasgow
So as Jobo says 2 more sleeps to we attempt to wrap up 7IAR.
The smsm are doing everything to give the Revolting Rankers supporters and team a feel good factor going into the game, everyone apart from poor Murthinio, who has been undermined again going into a big game for them. Wonder if anyone over there has had the decency to tell him that he is not getting the job.
I read this morning that Stevie Clarke knocked them back last week, so they turned to Stevie G. I must have missed that in the headlines, that they are now going for an under 18 coach after a failure by the under 20 coach.
Anyway Doc’s appointment then Occupational health meeting awaits.
Have a fantastic Friday ghuys
D. :)
DBBIA
It was 8.45 am, even I don’t drink alcohol at that time in the morning although as the saying goes it was 5pm somewhere in the world
??
Salzburgh got a taste of scottish refereeing last night. Gollum assisted by Madhun allowed a Marseille hand-ball goal and then denied the Austrians a clear penalty.
I’m pretty sure that Billy Davies isn’t spelled Steven Gerrard.
I initially spelled “spelled” “spelt” there but bread puns are sooooo last week…
