Neil Lennon’s next decision, marquees and sunshine

456

I hope Neil Lennon takes the Hibs job. He’s a talented coach who has achieved far beyond the expected mark of a 44-year-old. After leaving Celtic two years ago he gave Bolton a temporary respite, rescuing them from immediate relegation before the inevitable happened a year later.

Bolton were on the slide and needed a miracle worker. Hibs, on the other hand, can surely only go one way. Managing a second successive failing club would be difficult to recover from. Easter Road has also allowed Alan Stubbs to enhance his managerial stock, despite not reaching the play-off final in either of his two seasons in charge.

Right now Hibs are a great opportunity for Neil.

No harm meant to Colin Kazim-Richards but the sight of him going through a medical in Brazil was welcome. He was one of a large number of players acquired over the last two seasons who never looked like a Celtic player, on paper, or on the field. It’s best for player and club he moves on.

What kind of times are these? Marquees deployed to protect scores of Celtic season ticket applicants from sunburn. Surely some parallel universe.

If and when CFC make an announcement on Res12 it will be when it is too late to do anything about it. You don’t have a problem in front of you to deal with for three years and wait until after one Statute of Limitations has passed and the second one is so close that you risk missing it. The third one doesn’t matter because, I believe, that the SFA can say that, Rangers having been put out of the competitions by then, they did not have to act because the club would not be competing in the competitions past that date.

CFC, knowing that the deadline is fast approaching, would make an announcement on their position AFTER they had contacted UEFA if they truly wanted it to be acted on. That is the only order of play that we have time left for. An announcement does not reset the S of L clock, only a formal approach to UEFA ARRIVING at their HQ before the S of L date is reached will do that. This announcement is no more than a sop to those who have been complaining about the licensing issue. Unfortunately it is a sop that will be acceptable to 50-60% of the group who will, having been torn between supporting their team and protesting, see it as the green light to move on.

As always, I hope I am wrong but even if I am I have to ask why such a half assed, time wasting and deflective set of actions were undertaken by the Celtic board over the last three years?

I should add that worse can be said about the other clubs in the leagues who did not even respond to approaches on the subject by supporters.

I’ve noticed a couple of your posts about going to/being at the concert. I was there too. An absolutely awesome concert. He gets better with age. That’s the fourth time I’ve seen him and the best. POTR were superb for a bunch of young guys in their 20s backing a 70 year old legend.

Those forming the uplift in the numbers will, for the most part, fall within either or both of those categories.

    —————————————

    That’s a reasonable hypothesis I suppose.

My suspicion – and it is also only conjecture – is that the largest part of the uplift is in relation to the appointment of Brendan Rodgers, and the associated anticipation of better player recruitment, better performances, etc.

If people are going to see Celtic for the above reasons are to be classed as glory-hunters, then fair enough.

It’s probably the case then that virtually all Celtic fans, and fans of all other teams, are glory-hunters to a greater or lesser degree – depends on your level of expectation I suppose.

Old Firm fans – that’s a different thing entirely…I don’t personally know anyone who is buying a Season Ticket because ‘Rangers are Back’, but obviously there will be some.

The actions of the Board over the past 3 years in relation to RFC, SFA, Sevco, etc., have been…less than visible (to be charitable to them).

As a result of the updates from Celtic men on here, I’m still hopeful they will – albeit as a result of the tenacity of shareholders – support efforts to address the lack of even-handed governance of the game.

Re the Res 12 T-shirts. There will only be the one batch of these getting ordered and the remaining quantities are as follows:

Medium – we have 12 left.

    Large – 18 remaining.

XL – 20 still to find a home.

XXL – 10 still to sell.

If you want to support the Res12tance you can order at http://www.cqnbookstore.com

    Post from Reiver on TSFM.

Hard to argue with Reivers post on TSFM, the Celtic FC board are not interested in Res12, enhancing the brand through marketing and expanding revenue are the boards only concern, including the old firm brand

Morning Bhoys I think Joe Hanson is for the off his big pal VVD will have told him about the EPL and the big money that can be earned based on last seasons form he will be no loss and will give Brendan extra cash in his transfer pot. I think we are going to see a good few moving on and there will be one or two surprises amongst them. H.H.

I think you need to take a step back and stop taking personal offence at others questioning Celtic’s silence on Res12. Everyone, to a man (even TD67 after his initial dislike of it until Celtic seemed to take an interest) appreciates the requisitioners, yours, Paul’s and all other unnamed who have assisted in this personally.

However Celtic’s apparent, and my perceived view, reluctance to take the lead on this is open to question.

Assurances given may have been well recieved. But we are now into the 13th rolling 48 hours since Auldheid requested patience and asked us to wait 48 hours 2 weeks ago tomorrow.

Good post although when effort has been put in against an expectation and it is slow to materialise it is hard to keep personal feelings out of it. You should hear me rant privately!

I did have reasons to think something would come out over the next 48 hours and I’m extremely frustrated by the delay and I’m not the only one, but I think we all appreciate the support given to us by those in CQN and we’ll undestand the skepticism shown occasionally.
