New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

Seen your post earlier mate – glad ye backed the O’Brien horse! By the time i got on,the value was gone(only got 11/8).He win like a goodun all the same so he did.

Also i think it was just a steering job for Joseph, the stable was confident in the extreme.Don’t thing we will see much more of the wee man on the flat,he is beginning to struggle to make the weights. He is destined for National Hunt racing it seems.

Camelot is as short as 3/1 for the Derby now,but i wouldn’t read too much into the form of that race with regards to the Derby – the last horse to win the RPT and then go on to win the Derby was Motivator way back in 2006.Don’t forget St.Nichlaus Abbey also won that race, and was highly rated, but didn’t do too much afterwards.

They believe Camelot to be special as well, and if he continues to thrive over the winter, then anything is possible.

Does anyone think PL & DD can redeem themselves when the huns go bust and release a statement condemning the non-payment of taxes, the tainted titles and that sporting integrity cannot allow any huns newco starting anywhere near the SPL.

“If by the horse you mean the sfa, we have to force them, and we can, we hold all the aces, in fact we hold all the deck.

Anything short, our club will be shafting the support.”

That’s what I said, we have the deck in our hands.

I think the board will be well aware of the feeling among the support if they try and assist the hun in any way.

As for pushing for reforms, again, if the club don’t go all the way, they will be shafting the support.

I posted to Partizan earlier how much I admire posters who express their views but conduct themselves in the right way.

    You are one of them.

  6. Great to have ya back Paul67, it was like losing a hand for a few days!

Happy birthday to my hero, the Maestro himself … Mr Celtic himself, Paul Michael Lyons McStay.

Oh how I worshipped him when I was a kid, my admiration for Henrik a distant 2nd and that speaks volumes!!

    Absolutely love the following Q&A

    Fav other team: Celtic reserves

Person you’d most like to meet: Pope John Paul 2nd

I’ll forgive him for the answers that involve The Daily Record and Seb Coe :-)

I need to ask ,what type of reforms are we hoping for ? do we want to be asking for a pro Celtic SFA, if so ;what would that look like and would the rest of Scottish football want it?

All we need is a fair and equitable share of voice,we shold not need the Huns to go bust for that to happen. The SFA is moving, although very slowly into the 20th Century,we will see change.

It is a distinct possibility.Listen – ordinary working class people, for the most part – just want to live in peace.Food on the table,a few drinks,a decent standard of living – a bit of sport,a holiday or two,and we are happy.

Over two years ago I had a conversation with someone with access to the top at Celtic.

They were very worried then about Hearts and Killie surviving so some thinking had to be directed at worst case scenarios.

I reckon though that they, like the vast majority thought Rangers were to big to fail, but back then EBTs were asteroids outside telescope range.

    “the people have spoken.”

Aye that, and carpet bombing by NATO. Give me strength.

Mind you, if you accept that “the people have spoken” is a fair justification, can I ask you, what did you think of the result from the jury in the recent assault case involving Neil Lennon? There was a lot of outrage on here, but, after all, as you said “the people have spoken”. So, that’s allright then.

And, before you reply, I’m actually on the way out.

So, I’ll accept your answer in advance of “that’s pure dead different, so it is”.

who picked that audience (sorry to a friend’s wife who appeared) ?

most clapped the killing of another country’s leader (by their own country among others)

then one guy went off on one about the uk losing too much of “its powers” to the EU.

no specifics, maybe he was more concerned about the EU dictating the ingredients of irn bru than he was about his own

country dictating who should be tyhe leader of a foreigin country.

other then wishing i had been born in spain or portugal for the weather, i’d never really wondered whether my auld man should have taken the family out of the uk when i was young.

Very informative article. If we believe the British tabloids (and why shouldn’t we? Don’t they always tell the truth about Celtic?) we might believe that peace has broken out. Given that there is £100 milion worth of armaments sold to Libya by Mr Blair we can be sure that the action has not yet started. The coalition is already strained and an east west conflict seems inevitable. britain and france (and the US bombers) willstay out but Qatar will finance their allies. My guess is that there may never be an election in Libya.

I worded my post badly, no I don’t want a pro Celtic agenda, but I want Celtic to lead the way in establishing a fair system.

In Poland they have a fair system, after every round of games, the referees performances are disected by the TV, and any mistakes are punished, the refs do not make very many mistakes.

This is what we should be pushing for, complete and utter transparancy, there could be no hiding place for the hun refs, none at all.

This is what I want Celtic to push for.

If by prepack you mean administration that means an attempt to continue as a going concern with HMRC as an impatient creditor wanting paid I would say extremely unlikely, but if they sell all their assets and manage to limp along and arrange to pay the tax, who could argue with that? But it depends on HMRC not taking their case to its logical conclusion.

That leaves liquidation of assets and Rangers newco .Fresh start as a new club with whatever they manage to keep out of HMRC’s hands. Still and forever tax dodgers FC.

  20. Just Wasn’t There

The manager saw white in his eyes,

He had been taken in and no surprise,

Money for players that wasn’t there,

Now all he could do was sit and stare.

The reporter saw through the white lie,

He had asked a question he could deny,

Money for the club just wasn’t there,

Now the supporter had their nightmare.

The director saw only blue and white,

He had ring fenced, knew he was right,

Money for himself that just wasn’t there,

Now wanted his club to give him his share.

The taxman saw that they were not in the black,

Was turning the screw, stretching the rack,

Money to be paid that just wasn’t there,

Bankruptcy or administration he didn’t care.

The supporter saw the whole thing as a disgrace,

Was watching in horror at all of this waste,

Money spent on players that just wasn’t there,

Who were these bastards that just didn’t care?

  24. Saddened to see that there is a reluctance among my fellow CQN comrades to countenance a bit of assistance for our troubled neighbours in the face of their demise.

    Shame on you.

That is not the spirit of our always generous club.

Not only would I match the sympathy & assistance that THEY offered us in 1994, but I would guarantee that they received TWICE as much from us as we did from THEM.

A Cyberpint for Paul67 and Andrew – good work ghuys.

Thought we did well on Thursday night apart from the usual self destruct moment. We scored from a header, from a set piece – when was the last one?

Tomorrow, I want a good defensive display. A 2-0 would be preferable to a 4-2.

Oh, and it would be good if they dropped points as well.

  29. The Comfortable ……

Are you comparing Neil’s case to the toppling of Gadaffi? Surely you must see the cases are incomparable, even our manager would agree with that.

Yes a ‘jury of his peers’ found Wilson not proven but that was only 10 of those peers. There was no validation or critique of their religious/political/social background. The consequence of that is many of the people who do have sympathies with Lenny’s background have expressed their disgust at the verdict. I was at Tynecastle that night and as a support we voiced our our anger in any way we could. The mood that night was, had more than just Wilson attacked Neil, the support would have physically gone to his aid.

Where were the people to defend Gadaffi?
