New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

    AAFG,

Agree with a lot of that but as I watched it I thought that there WERE several Norwich players I would have in the Celtic team toute de suite, especially the guys up front who COULD hold the ball.

We really miss that now. Not since Big Bad John has anyone been able to hold the ball up. It’s basic stuff.

Until we have that we’ll continue to lose the ball and struggle in matches.

Whytes rant and AJs surrender comment was both of them trying to appeal to the support, its funny, the government are trying to bring in an offensive behaviour bill designed to target songs sung about irish nationalism yet an ex hun board member can do an interview citing no surrender to the IRA as his position in a dirty war with his own club.

Ferris was never motivated by religion or politics. The other 2 did have links to loyalists in Ireland, mainly as a result of their propensity to illegal gains.

Just home and first thing is to log onto CQN, delighted it is back up and I look forward to reading all the usual posters. No words can express my appreciation for all you have done to enable the Celtic family to be fully informed and able to discuss so many divergent issues especially at this time.

The magazine is wonderful and it says so much about you that are not sitting on your laurels but boldly going where no blogger has gone before. Imagine where CQN could be in 5 years time. Thank you.

In my earliest post I said conditions must be set whatever Rangers situation.

We cannot stop a phoenix Rangers, especially if they start at the bottom, but we owe it to ourselves and the game to prevent anything like they did happening again by making the reforms outlined.

  14. James Forrest is Lennon on

    Auld Neil Lennon heid:

No-one CAN stop a phoenix Rangers, true. But they MUST start where any other phoenix club would start … at the bottom, their history erased, their club name changed in a way which reflects that.

And shame on us if we either allow a scenario where rules are changed to prevent it, or worse – actually conspire WITH Rangers to prevent it.

I will consider us Old Firm FC from that moment on, and I mean it.

  15. Some people seem to be saying that we should give Rankers support in any new setup in return for reforms. That is, to allow a post administration/liquidation Rankers or newco to compete in the SPL. What?….are you saying that the price we pay is to have things the way they should have been all along?

  16. HT

Part 2 is so exclusive it’s never been seen.

These Clowns are so tansparantly glum the perils of Rankurs their

Lazy emolient words that their daily attacks on the defensive

Frailties seem almost naively helpful to Lenny his ultmate desire to

  20. quonno

Aye, if the hun do go into admin or bust, our suits will tighten the purse strings accordingly, very worrying indeed.

  21. Belfastcity

Gadaffi was indeed a friend of Ireland but only because it suited him to get one over Thatcher after she allowed US planes to refuel on British soil on their way to bomb Tripoli.

The ordinary working people of Libya suffered horrendously under this man’s rule.

  22. James Forrest is Lennon says:

I agree. Our club should be talking to all our joint clients now and renegotiate our terms as we cannot be involved with.their they go into administration.

We should have no more Old Firm now.

  23. Thought I would throw in my tuppence worth (or should that be £1) on the troubles facing the other team in Glasgow.

Personally I think we should ignore them.

Whether they do or don’t go into administration is of little interest to me, albeit it is amusing.

Our biggest succeses as a club , stein , 1967, 9 in a row, 1988, Seville, are about us, and no one else.

If Murray managed to do one thing in his tenure, it was to leave legacy where a significant percentage of the Celtic support are as obsessed with Rankers as they have always been about us.

    This is sad.

If they do go into administration, I couldn’t care less, and if I was advising Celtic , my advice would be that they should adopt a neutral stance in any debate, and take advantage of the turmoil to make sure we sort our own house and win the league .

  24. The Jury's Out on

    BelfastCityCelt,

I won’t get into a long discussion with you on a Saturday night about something that we are poles apart. I have no doubt that Gadaffi supplied the rebels with arms and semtex due to his hatred of the West; not for his support or belief in the ira. And I have no doubt that the the friends and relatives of those whom he murdered in his own country would agree with me.

He slaughtered his own. He did not care for yours.

But we both support Celtic. Common ground. I’ll leave it there.

  25. googybhoy

Our ‘wee’ friend has passed on the baton I’m afraid. Amongst others, today is the feast of St Mellon.

Apparently she was a fruit cake :)

  26. Does anybody thinks so called “football language is one” is myth and part of the problems with Celtic defence is lack of communication?

I thought on Thursday Fraser Forster called “mine” to Cha Di Ri, Cha thought he said swine and made that strange pass. When Cha realised that Fraser said mine not swine he smiled to the cameras.

    Or maybe Forster said nothing?

I wonder how Celtic defence line would look like if these were players whose Mother’s language was English?

After all those mistakes I would give that option a try.

  27. Wee update on our Bhoy from Livi who had the accident on the ferry. He is finally awake an the doctors are going to operate to rebuild his face.

Really good news and the signs are positive so far.

Great relief to us here who know and love him.
