New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

Hugely impressed with them, my God they work hard for Lambert. How we could do with Holt and Hoolihan.

Who Du You Think You Are Kidding?

    By John Traynor

His dad Cha Bun Kun played in Germany where they called him Cha Boom-because of his thunderous shot- but what should we call

    Cha Du-Ri.

Cha Diddy fits the bill after his long range own goal-but it really would be cruel to suggest as much.

Anyhow , as Craig Burley asked at half -time: “Is there alaw against Forster diving to his right?”

So who was to blame, the keeper or the Korean?. Personally I would blame both of them.

With Mr Pastry, aka Daniel Majstorovic, left out we might have thought there would be no more rib-ticklers.

But hey, this is Celtic and in stepped Mr Bean and Frank Spencer.

It wasn’t anything to laugh about and the celtic punters in the Stade de la Route Lorient, or Lorient Rd Stadium to you and me, were hardly creasing themselves.

    DISTURBING

Almost to a man they stood there hands on head in a frozen state of bewilderment and bemusement

It was a sorry sight not to be forgotten and if you are a Celtic fan on the way to work or en-route to the Job centre this morning here’s a bit of street French to try out on the guy next to you.

tap him on the shoulderand say “J’en ai ras le bol”,while with your right hand, palm facing downwards, trace a line from your left eyebrow to the right one. It means ” I’ve had it up to here”.

I’m telling you ,it might catch on- and every time someone does it from now on you will know that they are a hoops fan.

Seemingly,Cha Du-Ri just didn’t get it because after disturbing his own net he was caught on camera laughing.

But it was more out of embarrassment and astonishment than anything else.

So no more Cha Diddy hogwash – and shame on whoever suggested it!

I saw quite a bit of Wes Hoolihan when he was with Shelborne, never thought he would be EPL standard, just shows what hard work does for you, fair play to the boy.

You’re welcome mate. My words about you were because you seem a genuine guy.

I didn’t want to join in your debate with Antifa really but you both seemed in danger of disrespecting the other, though I don’t think it actually got that far. From your posts on here I respect both of you. I remember people telling me early christians were in some way socialistic so I ‘got’ where Antifa was coming from.

I wont comment now on Communism, Catholicism or Christianity as we have totally opposing views. No need to start an argument when we are all just glad CQN is back!

    Hail Hail.

  7. Does anyone have any links to tonights your call with jabba? I heard the second last caller was good! would love to hear him? the guy sopposedly didnt stop for a breather!!

  8. Stokes did better than I thought he would on Thursday night as lone striker, but it the praise he got, for doing a decent job only confirms that people who criticise Sammi, who does far better in this role, aren’t being objective.

But great to see Stokes improving his game – he’s definitely been the best striker this season.

If Hooper and Sammi are available, I’d play both up front with Stokes (with Sammi taking on LM duties when necessary). If not, I’d go

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Ki ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Stokes :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Forrest will be tired, as will Ki (who has had more playing time than anyone, despite his travels), but the latter’s game doesn’t depend as much on pace.

I missed that reference but am not surprised it surfaced. They will want wipe out their history since SDM tookover once the damage he and they and their SFA placements have done to the integrity of Scottish football is recognised.

Celtic are well aware of this and will be in a position to call the shots as part of the conditions our support will be demanding before the seeds of any Rangers newco are planted anywhere.

The idea that we will let x years of cheating go by with just a 10 point deduction is laughable. This is an opportunity to reform our game across the board and the club who have done more than any other to destroy its integrity should be allowed no say in the reforms on Refereeing, Licencing and Proper Ownership

  10. My tup’pence worth.

While I would like to see them go out of business I think my preference would be to see them so badly wounded that they struggle on for a few years while suffering regular humpings at our hands.

My concern about that is that our spectacular down-sizing may be accelerated to match their much reduced expenditure at the same time.

  11. bhoywithseethrougheyes on

Has anyone had any further response from the bbc following their scurrilous allegation of sectarianism from the Celtic support at the cup final. I know a few posters had the bit between their teeth with this complaint.

No news on how the club got on with their complaint either. Hope it doesn’t end up dying a death after “behind the scenes” discussions.

  12. Long time lurker but it’s time to pop my CQN cherry. Great blog and now evolving into a wonderful multimedia platform for Celtic fans around the world. Great work. That and the fact I’m losing too much money on Pokerstars!!

Let’s hope we break the cycle of European hangovers and take all 3pts to continue our recovery. Onwards and upwards!

  13. If Rankers are found guilty of tax evasion. How do we feel about the current SFA president considering he was a director and company secretary at the time the EBTs were introduced?

  18. Jmccormick 19:44. Smith must be grounded as he’s not allowed to speak or play with his pals at the Beeb!

  19. I hear Neil Warnock said that he will not be bidding for Gary Hooper in January, and went as far as to say he “didn’t know where these stories came from.”

Probably the same source that said Madjid Bougherra was on his way to Arsenal.

  21. Partizan

Catholics, the world over, have always been Socialistic in their outlook. Since the 6th century the church has prospered in times of austerity and hardship, that has continued into the present day. The numbers of practicing Catholics in third world countries supports this.

The hierarchy of the church is a different matter.

  22. TET

I agree. Doing so is going to let a lot of people off the hook. Sad and disgraceful.

  23. Apologies if this has already been asked but if CW puts RFC in Administration before the FTT is heard, will the big tax bill be part of HMRC’s claim?
