New, social, CQN, Elvis is dead!

1157

And we’re back!  What a two days of systems nightmare.  We went down at 7pm on Thursday.  No conclusive information on why, we have had traffic volume related outages before, but this was on a more serious and persistent basis. We had to move the database to a new location and restore from backup to recover, we lost a few days articles. Better not speak to me about Fasthosts for a while.

We got access to the databases this morning and took the opportunity to upgrade facilities in the background.  We’re on a new incarnation of WordPress and now have Facebook and Twitter integration.  Good news is you can link your Celtic Quick News account with your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts, and share information from CQN to your social network timeline.

To do so:
Login to Celtic Quick News.
Cick on your name at the top of the Comments box to access your profile.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to access the Facebook and Twitter links.
Update your profile.

You will then see a Share link beside your comments.

Should we be Celtic Slow News for today?  Here it is:

Rennes 1-1 Celtic.
Hugely important second half performance and Joe Ledley goal.
Your favourite billionaire is getting divorced and has claimed he has no money!  Oh dear.
One year on, the SFA are still smoking out religiously offensive correspondents!
The Berlin Wall fell and I hear Elvis is dead.

Have a try at the Facebook and Twitter links and let me know what you think of it.  I’m off for a break but will catch up later.

Most importantly, there is a Celtic fan called Andrew who will be walking about Belfast in a daze this weekend.  If you see him, but him a beer.

It’s clear from the things Craig Whyte says that he is used to being in this situation with companies he’s managed. Administration and liquidation aren’t shameful events as far as he’s concerned – they’re how he makes his money. The interview with Tom English is full of leakage indicating his main intention.

“If we don’t win the case I’ll still control the club.

It’s not as simple as that but that (liquidation and forming New Co) is one potential outcome. It’s not desirable, not something we want to do and I’m doing everything I can to avoid it.

Other than a regrettable event in our history I don’t think it would be as bad people think it might be. “

He means to liquidate them, and believes the rest of the SPL will vote to change its rules allowing New Rangers immediate entry.

Well said on Fraser and Kayal.

I too do not believe he has mental health issues. He is fully aware of what he is doing, calculating and treating HMRC, other creditors and ex-employees who do not agree with his modus operandi with contempt.

By going on Facebook and or twitter, the only advantage I could see is you would get to see other Celtic minded indidividuals views who might not post here…:)

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

Lennybhoy, time management is the big challenge. Don’t doing well this month.

The Pantaloon Duck, you’re very welcome.

Gordon_J, aye, but for both recoveries I got around the same number of emails asking “what’s going on?”

    seanbhoy69, I didn’t know that :-)

    timbhoy2, you’re welcome.

Eyeguy, welcome, good to hear from you.

    Nohunlover, we’ll try.

obonfanti1888, for the last couple of days, I think we adopt the Robert Maxwell rules, I we don’t report it, it didn’t happen.

MICK11, no more dirt. They have pursued a further guilty party from last year out the door.

Allgreen, is he a billionaire? Don’t think so :-)

    bankiebhoy1, cheers.

SFTB, after being suspicious of Facebook for years I’ve decided to thrown my bit in with them.

  6. On BBC Alba half time St M 2 Hibs 3. St Mirren like to pass the ball but Hibs playing on their mistakes.

  7. Who is the guy on Shortbread just now ? Is he from these parts ? I’ve heard him on George Galloway’s programme often. He sounds like Phil on speed.

  8. The Battered Bunnet on

Very encouraged to hear Tom English recognise that, should Rangers lose the Big tax case, the validity of their sporting record over the past ten years should be reappraised.

First time I’ve heard the idea mooted in Mainstream Media.

My initial reaction on Thursday was

    1) Fraser had come out to deal with the keeper’s kick out, as we have been encouraging him to do. If Cha had slipped, we would have been calling out FF for not being in a position to clear before the French attacker got there. So I have no problem with his starting position.

    2) Cha reaches the ball and races cross pitch with it. At that point FF could have taken a step or two backwards and to the side that Cha was running towards. That may have given him a chance of catching the ball before it hit the net.

    3) The main issue is there was no need for a pass back as Cha was not being pressured by the French forward and was in control of the ball. If he did not look to see he was not under pressure then FF should have told him. FF seems to have admitted that his communication was not clear. I suspect he claimed this after the match to take the heat off Cha because he, FF, had a very good second half.

Anyway, Europa League is behind us and I think we need to get our heads back on Sunday.

Have we not dropped 9 points to St. J, Hearts, and der hun, following Europa League fixtures. Time to break that stat.

  10. Sandman Is Neil Lennon on

Good grief, not only did the Cha/Forster combination break the blog, it fractured the server.

Those two are lethal. Lethal. Play them up front tomorrow…

  11. setting free the bears

Your thoughts are almost identical to mine.

Neil Lennon mentioned afterwards Fraser’s mental character, to get over the incident.

Besides, he shot stopped at least two, that I don’t think Lukasz Zaluska would have imho.

Thanks also…I accept that administration/liquidation is second nature to whyte but what we really want is liquidation as they can no longer be called rankers FC, that in itself is the biggest thing that could happen to them the records showing no more trophies and no more founded in whatever year they were formed. Although they will still be the same under a different name, they will never see any more stars on their jerseys etc. That is what I want personally.

If they only get administration ad are deducted 10 points, I think we have to go out and win the league by 21 points so they cannot say had it not been for the 10 point deduction.

whyte is arrogant and will be until the day the administration is announced, as many have posted he is more or less drip feeding this in the media…BBC accepted. He is subtly telling the or supporters it is coming but they are too thick to see what he is telling them.

As for the the establishment being convinced to let the rankers FC 2011 stay in the SPL, nothing would surprise me.

  14. Wonder if Pat Nevin and Rob McLean will be outside the BBC on the 5th of November to condemn sectarianism?

  15. MWD

Just voted. The ‘No’s are on 96%.

I think the Celtic support will be very united on this. But I’m in AT LEAST 2 minds about what would actually happen if it came down to it. Part of me thinks ‘they can’t just re-write the rules’ then ‘of course they can, they are ra peeple’.

I suppose deep down inside I just can’t imagine the rules being applied to them.

  18. Chris Sutton on Soccer AM this morning.

‘I was lucky enought to play with Shearer, Zola, George Weah, but the best all round striker was Henrik Larsson.

Henrik says in the foreword of Chris Sutton’s new book he was the best striker he ever played with.

We have went from telepathic strike duos to a team who play like they have just met at the front door.

Can we get the two of them to do the half time draw tomorrow?
