Newco choose innuendo instead of action

904

Newco did not disappoint with last night’s statement, it was as incoherent, angry and contradictory as you would expect.  They claim:

“We are extremely concerned that member clubs were not provided with enough information, or time, to allow them to make fully informed decisions”.

They were allowed 28 days to ask for as much information as they wanted before voting!  Newco and most others were able to respond within two days – by choice.

“We are aware several club directors claimed they were being bullied”.

Several people we are not naming were bullied by someone we are not naming.  This is like the evidence of wrongdoing they say they have but would rather not show anyone.  To quote their founding manager, “Who are these people?”

They want to sound hard but have chosen to shut up instead of revealing anything – nice one.

“Addressing the [financial hardship of many of our clubs]was one of our primary objectives and the resolution we presented could and should have been progressed”.

“The SPFL chose to obstruct our resolution”.

“The fact that this solution was not afforded sufficient consideration defies belief”.

An independent QC was employed to examine their resolution and found it was not competent and could not be put to members.  They claim to want independent oversight but completely ignore independent oversight has happened.

“There is precedent within Scottish football that a league must not be compromised by changing the rules during the course of the competition.”

Again, a claim shrouded in innuendo, this time an unexplained precedent.  If I was a betting man, I would say they forgot the league schedule was extended in 2008 to accommodate Oldco (I regularly hear of this amnesia), and are referring to the fact that it was not extended as long as they wanted.

“The anger of our fans is understood and shared by our Board, who continue to examine all legal options available.”  Newco do so well in court, the SPFL board must be terrified.

The statement confirms they have a problem accepting rules.  An independent QC explained to Newco MD Stewart Robertson and the rest of the SPFL board why Newco’s resolution could not be pursued.  Robertson was asked if there was anything more he wanted to ask and if he felt the matter had been given sufficient consideration by the SPFL board.

It was not the SPFL board, the chief exec, a retained solicitor or any other malign foe who stopped their resolution, it was an independent QC.  These are the rules, they were independently enforced, accept them.

Remember this SPFL vote did not end the Premiership season, all it did was ensure the season will not be voided, all other options remain on the table.  It’s not much of a hill to stand and fight on in these difficult times.

Looking forward to seeing what they have to offer.

Reminds me of the first strip that I bought myself.

1985 – the CR Smith one with their name in black on one of the green hoops. Quite unobtrusive, so I liked it.

Can you remember the first one you bought yourself? Gifts don’t count.

  2. BlantyreTim, GlasgowGhirl, Tontine et al. Here’s the lowdown on Scot’s College in Rome etc. If you were brilliant, but had to work at being brilliant, you were sent to Scot’s College in Rome. If you were just brilliant, without having to work at it, you were sent to Scot’s College in Paris. If you were from Argyll & The Isles you were sent to Valladolid. If you were just run of the mill you ended up in Cardross or Drygrange. Some of the better ones came out of the latter two….. but not all.

They sat and watched China ravaged by respiratory infection for the best part of two months, and none of them thought, we should prepare for this.

There was no guidance from previous simulations like the 2016 exercise cignus, that could possibly help prepare them for what was coming.

They had to wait until the WHO told them, really?

If that’s the case, what is the point of them?

They were preparing, they were all busy with their financial advisers looking at ways to to adjust their portfolio’s to make a killing.

The majority of the whole world is either shut down or restricted.

Remove that and the numbers would exponentially go through the roof, health systems would be overrun, would be total carnage.

This is no flu, it is 36 x as contagious and far more deadly.

    Wake up.

My mother in law died from Covid 19 on Thursday eve. aged 73

    12 allowed at the funeral.

I will not be able to attend and support my wife as our 10 year old daughter would have to sit alone at the service

Even same households have to sit apart at the crem.

It will be live streamed, it’s such a difficult time for all.

    Be safe.

  13. Bamboo

As we have been conned about so many other things, I can understand your cynicism but Covid-19 is astonishingly more contagious than the flu and, importantly, we have vacines for the flu.

By all means challenge the Establishment view but I think this one is a bit different. A big bit different.

    Goodnight all.

  14. Bamboo, In around 3 or 4 weeks the UK has had 16,000 Hospital deaths with a guestemiate of 7,500 Nursing Home & Community Deaths. That is approximately 23,500 deaths in a very short period despite an unprecedented National Lockdown to try & minimize casualties.

I am not certain where you are plucking your flu deaths from. Records are not published, but the average death rate is a fraction of what you quoted.

Why you suspect ever Country in the World would join an unholy alliance to destroy their own economies beggars belief.

  15. JNP,

    my condolences for your loss

My partner`s father died this morning. She, my partner, was told twenty people would be allowed at the funeral. Are there different regulations in different parts of the country?

  17. Bamboo, my aunty didn’t die of the flu.

I watched her funeral service online.

    It was cold and remote.

    I should have been there.

    Bamboo,

You need to get off the right wing propaganda crap, right now it might be on a par with the flu of two years ago but its not stopping there, is it?

Originally they said elderly and underlying health problems, nobody appears to have told the virus that. Plenty of fit and healthy victims who would beat the flu are being taken. When will it become serious enough for you to reassess your position?

You are reading shit planted by those who put money above life and really don’t give a monkeys about the useful idiots who support and propagate their misinformation.

The more pressure on the NHS the sooner it collapses, that’s their goal and you are supporting that by casting doubt on the seriousness of the situation.

Tell us, have you ignored all the warnings then?

You still working and socializing as normal, telling your kids or grand kids there’s nothing to worry about, they should just carry on as normal?

  19. Hot Smoked.

My understanding is that it’s up to the funeral director’s discretion

    We are in North Lanarkshire.

My mum’s friends funeral was last week in East Dunbartonshire and only 10 were allowed at that funeral.

I’m very sorry to hear of your partner’s loss, please pass on my condolences.

  20. Night all.

Thank you to all for the kind comments.

    That should never be forgotten.

  21. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Bamboo,

My dad was not taken by the virus but thanks for your concern. Nor was his death counted as such, he was tested before he passed. So I cannot support the other common conspiracy theory that they are accrediting non related deaths to the virus. I am more incline to the conspiracy theory that they are underestimating the count because they appear to be counting only those that prove positive on hospital testing.

I do still believe this is man made and China and Iran were the original targets.

  24. weebobbycollins on

Canamalar…are you anticipating the privatisation of the health service? I presume that would be the reasoning behind a deliberate attempt to collapse the NHS…

  25. Canamalar, In Ireland both Hospital & Nursing Home Deaths are counted. Presently Nursing Home & Community Deaths account for 45% of total Covid 19 Deaths here.

There is no reason to believe that the UK percentages would vary significantly,

I read somewhere yesterday that there was an estimated 7,500 Nursing Home Covid 19 Deaths in the UK that would approximate to 45% which would be in line with the Irish Experience.

Anyhow condolences to all who have lost friends & family.

    Back to basics…,

No sure if you had tongue in cheek with your good luck to Sir Keir (tory blah) Rodney Starmer. You would struggle to get a fag paper between his politics and the tory front bench.

Granted, Corbyn failed to properly assert his leadership and allowed entryists like Sir Keir Rodney Starmer to stab him in the back all the way through his leadership with some misplaced notion about trying to bring unity. But folding under american backed Zionist pressure was probably his biggest mistake.

He needed to be ruthless but wasn’t up to it. Now we are just like america, two sets of capitalists fighting it out to get to the corporate trough.
