Newco choose innuendo instead of action

904

Newco did not disappoint with last night’s statement, it was as incoherent, angry and contradictory as you would expect.  They claim:

“We are extremely concerned that member clubs were not provided with enough information, or time, to allow them to make fully informed decisions”.

They were allowed 28 days to ask for as much information as they wanted before voting!  Newco and most others were able to respond within two days – by choice.

“We are aware several club directors claimed they were being bullied”.

Several people we are not naming were bullied by someone we are not naming.  This is like the evidence of wrongdoing they say they have but would rather not show anyone.  To quote their founding manager, “Who are these people?”

They want to sound hard but have chosen to shut up instead of revealing anything – nice one.

“Addressing the [financial hardship of many of our clubs]was one of our primary objectives and the resolution we presented could and should have been progressed”.

“The SPFL chose to obstruct our resolution”.

“The fact that this solution was not afforded sufficient consideration defies belief”.

An independent QC was employed to examine their resolution and found it was not competent and could not be put to members.  They claim to want independent oversight but completely ignore independent oversight has happened.

“There is precedent within Scottish football that a league must not be compromised by changing the rules during the course of the competition.”

Again, a claim shrouded in innuendo, this time an unexplained precedent.  If I was a betting man, I would say they forgot the league schedule was extended in 2008 to accommodate Oldco (I regularly hear of this amnesia), and are referring to the fact that it was not extended as long as they wanted.

“The anger of our fans is understood and shared by our Board, who continue to examine all legal options available.”  Newco do so well in court, the SPFL board must be terrified.

The statement confirms they have a problem accepting rules.  An independent QC explained to Newco MD Stewart Robertson and the rest of the SPFL board why Newco’s resolution could not be pursued.  Robertson was asked if there was anything more he wanted to ask and if he felt the matter had been given sufficient consideration by the SPFL board.

It was not the SPFL board, the chief exec, a retained solicitor or any other malign foe who stopped their resolution, it was an independent QC.  These are the rules, they were independently enforced, accept them.

Remember this SPFL vote did not end the Premiership season, all it did was ensure the season will not be voided, all other options remain on the table.  It’s not much of a hill to stand and fight on in these difficult times.

  3. Good morning, friends from a gloriously sunny, clear skied East Kilbride. Quite spooky how relatively good the weather has been during the 4 weeks of lockdown. IT’s certainly helped to make it a bit easier when there’s the opportunity to spend some of the day outdoors, if you’re luck enough to have a garden. I’m lucky.

My apologises to The WoodCutter Pub in Motherwell…its NOT just Cocktails that they are taking orders for Home Delivery, but also PINTS of Beer………will this catch on ?

As I am a paid up member of The Riff Raff Society for all of my lifetime…the beer delivery would do nicely…although I dont have a Garden to drink it in, so thats a problem as I am not a fan of drinking in the Hoose.

Guess I will have to remain Tee Total for now…this is now my 32nd Day of self isolation…I blame PM Johnson and his Tory Mob….I’ll bet that every one of them has Gardens to enjoy, and drink their Posh cocktails…Feck ’em !

Will our leaders do the same…Don’t hold your breath.

    ——————–

Tax Havens are used by many companies as they are not illegal. Immoral maybe, but not illegal, and ruthlessly exploited by taxation accountants. Many of these companies are now using Furlough.

We must protect the workers today and readdress this tomorrow. So I must say I hope our leaders don’t do the same at this time.

After we come out the other side, we could easily give our NHS the £350 m if we addressed this problem.

Another wee point to consider What constitutes a tax haven ? The company I work for uses Jersey.

Incidentally Ireland is the number 1 ” tax haven” for multinational American companies.

    HH and stay safe.🌈

  15. Good morning from the Costa del Moray. Another beautiful day here with no clouds for the last 3 days. How we would love to make that 10 minute drive down to one of the wonderful beaches up here, the dog loves it, but it is more important to stop the propagation of this virus.

I’m with HT, I would have preferred to see the league completed but common sense says that won’t happen. We have played 30 games of a 38 game league and despite the huns’ game in hand being worth 12 points 😉 had they won it we would still be champions. We needed to win 5 games to win the league, does anybody actually believe the huns would have won 9 games IAR combined with us dropping points in half our remaining games?

We deserve to be champions this season, of that there can be no doubt.

    🏆🏆🏆🍀🏆🏆🏆🍀🏆🏆🏆🍀🏆??

    Big Jimmy,

Give it a rest with the Old Mannie stuff 😂 You’re only a few years older than a lot of the guys on here, most of whom would not consider themselves old, or approaching old. 😜

    Stay safe Big Man.

As for not being able to complete the league games ? Hmm, as they say. I wonder…….. 🤓

  22. Our Minister of Health here who I must admit is doing a fairly good job even though I hate his Party & Politics with a vengeance

Anyhow he was saying yesterday, he does not see anyway there will be mass attendances at events this year,

So effectively all major sports events in Ireland are out for 2020.

I doubt if the GAA will go ahead behind closed doors, so I reckon that’s it for us.

I hope I’m wrong but I can’t see things going much differently in the UK.

With the huge TV demand from a sport starved world, I can see closed door football games but I reckon that’s as good as it will get, and I expect it will be August at the earliest before we see Celtic again.
