Newco choose innuendo instead of action

904

Newco did not disappoint with last night’s statement, it was as incoherent, angry and contradictory as you would expect.  They claim:

“We are extremely concerned that member clubs were not provided with enough information, or time, to allow them to make fully informed decisions”.

They were allowed 28 days to ask for as much information as they wanted before voting!  Newco and most others were able to respond within two days – by choice.

“We are aware several club directors claimed they were being bullied”.

Several people we are not naming were bullied by someone we are not naming.  This is like the evidence of wrongdoing they say they have but would rather not show anyone.  To quote their founding manager, “Who are these people?”

They want to sound hard but have chosen to shut up instead of revealing anything – nice one.

“Addressing the [financial hardship of many of our clubs]was one of our primary objectives and the resolution we presented could and should have been progressed”.

“The SPFL chose to obstruct our resolution”.

“The fact that this solution was not afforded sufficient consideration defies belief”.

An independent QC was employed to examine their resolution and found it was not competent and could not be put to members.  They claim to want independent oversight but completely ignore independent oversight has happened.

“There is precedent within Scottish football that a league must not be compromised by changing the rules during the course of the competition.”

Again, a claim shrouded in innuendo, this time an unexplained precedent.  If I was a betting man, I would say they forgot the league schedule was extended in 2008 to accommodate Oldco (I regularly hear of this amnesia), and are referring to the fact that it was not extended as long as they wanted.

“The anger of our fans is understood and shared by our Board, who continue to examine all legal options available.”  Newco do so well in court, the SPFL board must be terrified.

The statement confirms they have a problem accepting rules.  An independent QC explained to Newco MD Stewart Robertson and the rest of the SPFL board why Newco’s resolution could not be pursued.  Robertson was asked if there was anything more he wanted to ask and if he felt the matter had been given sufficient consideration by the SPFL board.

It was not the SPFL board, the chief exec, a retained solicitor or any other malign foe who stopped their resolution, it was an independent QC.  These are the rules, they were independently enforced, accept them.

Remember this SPFL vote did not end the Premiership season, all it did was ensure the season will not be voided, all other options remain on the table.  It’s not much of a hill to stand and fight on in these difficult times.

I won’t give all my reasons for my post just now .Its upsetting for people that have lost loved ones .

But elderly die from flu every year . I’m over 70 myself but I’m healthy and I am not worried about the virus -at all. Ive heard experts say this Covid out-break is similar to a severe flu out-break. Its a new different type of flu.

  2. Folk get banned on here for swearing but we have an absolute idiot claiming that this is a “flu like” virus and he’s allowed to post with impunity!

    Weebobbycolins..,

The English & Welsh NHS is effectively privatised since the 2012 Health and Social Care act, it was privatisation by stealth. The final transition of handing over to the insurance companies is all that’s left and that will be easier when most of those who were old enough to see and pay for its formation are gone. Its a different breed now, socially engineered by thatchernomics of greed and I’m alright jack. No such thing as community.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother in law T! May perpetual light shine upon her.

  7. My own opinion is that in time, it may well be this Thursday, but Celtic will be announced champions and for the second time in our history we’ll have achieved 9 in a row.

My preference would have been to have played this season to a finish no matter when that is, however, having spent fortunes following our club when we were being disadvantaged by the cheating of the monkeys, I’ll take it!

Canamalar…the privatisation of our healthcare is a horrible thought but I suppose it’s inevitable…so many ‘forever’ things eventually come to an end…

  9. Our second sporting Nine should be celebrated with appropriate gusto.

Ours is a triumph in adversity.

While sport must be viewed in perspective now – our achievement in the sporting realm is incredible.

  10. MACJAY1 @ 9:12 PM,

Although I’m not completely sure what your point is, I’ll go with this…

“Boris slow to act ? Or the WHO ?”

If so, I don’t think it’s mutualy exclusive. The WHO have been heavily criticised, yet it hardly needs them to call a pandemic for Countries to begin to act.

You posted a link to the WHO page of the 12 03 2020, suggesting, I guess, it’s when they announcrd a pandemic and woke up to the seriousness of the virus. Not so, it’s far from the case…

The day before (11032020) they issued this…

“…Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO’s assessment of the threat posed by this virus. It doesn’t change what WHO is doing, and it doesn’t change what countries should do…

…WHO has been in full response mode since we were notified of the first cases.

And we have called every day for countries to take urgent and aggressive action.

We have rung the alarm bell loud and clear.

    ===

…If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace, and mobilize their people in the response, those with a handful of cases can prevent those cases becoming clusters…

…Several countries have demonstrated that this virus can be suppressed and controlled.

I have said from the beginning that countries must take a whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach, built around a comprehensive strategy to prevent infections, save lives and minimize impact…

    https://www.who.int/dg/speeches/detail/who-director-general-s-opening-remarks-at-the-media-briefing-on-covid-19—11-march-2020

There was absolutely no reason for the UK to wait until the “pandemic” was announced to change it’s policy on herd immunity… it was a policy borne out of dogma and not advice from any reputable body.

Here’s the New York Times from the 13 03 2020

An important part of the WHO’s advice…

…If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace, and mobilize their people…

I can state ( just like you have)..how he probably got the Virus…out jogging or from his Pole dancing bit on the side…who he was probably seeing while his current Burd is Pregnant…

You speculating on how he may have got the virus is NOT any more valid than any of my guess work.

Johnson missed 5 “COBRA” MEETINGS…..at he outset of this Virus in early march…he was too feckin busy Dancing with Chinese Puppet dragons on the pavements/road on Downing Street….he is also accused of taking 12 DAYS Off to “prepare his children” who live with one of his Ex Burds.

Great article Paul, so are Newco now having to consider punching the Admin lifeboat before the league is called? If they wait until after then they will surely be giving away a 15 point advantage for next season’s start, whenever that may be.

  24. Good morning CQN from another beautiful sunny day in the Garngad

So Johnson is getting it in the neck for failing the Brittish public.

    No shit Sherlock.

His Government did not take it seriously, gave away tonnes of PPE, acted to slowly, gave out information that is as clear as mud. He should actually be charged for the deaths of the poor frontline staff that have sadly died fighting this horrible outbreak.

    The guy is a buffoon.

Here we are at 20 April and Johnson and his cohorts knew about this on the 23 January I believe that is 3 months and we are still talking about a shortage of PPE, it’s feckin criminal.

Now they are talking about getting vital PPE from China ffs. Unbelievable

I know we are starting some sort of production in the UK shortly but ffs 3 month later, again it’s feckin criminal.

Just an example of the thought that our government were too slow

    to act

Just a few days ago it was implemented that there would be no

access to bus drivers from the passengers

Well as a tim working in Norway I can say this was implemented

5 weeks ago in Norway where bus drivers were cordoned off

    from passengers entering a bus

and a few days after most small airports were closed and the major

airports were severely restricted to almost zero international flights

Just check flights still allowed to arrive at Heathrow and JFK Airports

We were weeks slow to react to this as were USA, just check the number

of fatalities in countries who took faster action

At last count 165 dead in Norway, more than 16000 UK and 40000 USA

Think our government has a lot to answer for

  27. A SIMPLE question for those of a Tory persuasion….

Are PM Johnson and his Tory Mob “BLAMELESS” for the EXTENT of COVID-19 in the UK ?

YES or NO Answer will Suffice ?

    ….

The UK is heading towards being “The MOST affected country in Europe, if it hasnt already” !
