Newco keyboard hard man mode indicates screaming insecurities

192

I’ve been writing CQN for 16 years so I’ve seen enough keyboard hard men to know how they operate.  They write aggressively, try to humiliate anyone holding an alternative view, and then bluster when it is revealed beyond any reasonable doubt their facts are wrong.

Newco look every inch the keyboard hard man with their hidden “evidence”.  They released a statement yesterday, saying they intend to release their evidence “well in advance of a general meeting to approve an independent investigation”, but not, apparently, before such a meeting is confirmed.

It is inconceivable that fewer than 11 clubs will object to this motion.  If they have any evidence of wrongdoing, show it now, in order to gain support for a General Meeting.  Refusing to show it until and unless a GM is approved, gives them the classic keyboard hard man get-out clause.  They can hold onto their position forever because they set criteria up front that allows their evidence to never be viewed.

Behind all keyboard hard men are screaming insecurities.  Well-adjusted people find better ways to communicate their views.  All I can tell you about Newco right now is that they look more insecure than at any point in their history.  It is a stage in their inevitable decline.

46 years ago today Celtic won their world record ninth successive league title with a 1-1 draw in front of 13,500 fans at Falkirk, a result that relegated the home team.  That Saturday game was followed by league games against Aberdeen on Monday and Morton on Tuesday, before a Scottish Cup Final against Dundee United the following Saturday.  As you would expect, instead of bleating about having to play three league games in four days, Celtic completed the Double.

Victory celebrations were muted as the Falkirk game came three days after a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the European Cup semi-final.  A result that still casts a bitter shadow.

For long, that week’s achievements seemed impossible to repeat.  We have not been to a European Cup semi-final, or won nine-in-a-row, since.  But the weeks ahead hold great promise – stay tuned!

  1. I spoke to my Doctor last Friday regarding B12 injection and he said they were cancelled because of the Corona Virus epidemic,he also said that he would prescribe the tablets that are a substitute for the injections.

My weekly medicine delivery is tomorrow so I’ll let you know if they are sent to me tomorrow.

I don’t think I would survive another episode of losing 7 1/2 stone in three and a half months again.

    just for you …

Oh, as I went out one mornin’ —

It bein’ the month of May —

    A farmer and his daughter

    I spied upon me way.

And the girl sat down quite calmly

To the milkin’ of her cow,

Sayin’ I will and I must get married

for the humor is on me now.

Oh, the humor is on me now.

Sayin’ I will and I must get married

for the humor is on me now.

So at last the daughter married —

    She married well-to-do —

    And loved her darlin’ husband

For a month, a year or two.

But Sean was all a tyrant,

And she quickly rued her vow,

Sayin’ I’m sorry I ever got married

for the humor is off me now.

Oh, the humor is off me now.

  5. Good afternoon CQN

Paul if you are referring to our 8 games left and we could very well play them all close to each other in the coming weeks. I am sorry I cannot see any football being played unless governments are ok with it. If the government is ok with it and only when they are ok with it there will be massive restrictions regarding fans/players/staff etc and why should football be any different from restaurants, cinemas and pubs?

I suppose it is down to each business to ensure the safety of their staff whether we have COVID -19 or not….

All my opinion but I cannot see it happening for a considerable while

How many people would have to work together to enable a closed door game?

Players, coaches, managers, physios, kitmen etc etc.

If any single one of them subsequently tests positive the whole lot would have to go into quarantine.

And everyone involved would have to be tested every day.

    It’s not feasible.

  9. Ernie

Someone discussing the very thing yesterday regarding the EPL quoted over 300 people would be involved in close door games.

  10. Ernie 4.01

That is nail on the head.

There are about 50 games to be played.

If just one person at any event gets tested Positive, 2 teams are out of Tournament and that is basically the end of things.

    I think it’s a very long shot.

I’d love to see the season played out but I can’t see it happening.

I’m guessing is the huns ‘dossier ‘,will be a leaked email exchange between Doncaster and Lawwell, and it’s all a Timmy conspiracy….

  12. Guys,

I would beg to differ. I think games behind closed doors will happen, certainly in the bigger leagues.

If construction sites can open then we can certainly play football.

Let’s keep an eye on Germany.

    HH.

  13. GREENPINATA on 27TH APRIL 2020 4:17 PM

So what happens if one person involved in a closed door game subsequently tests positive?

  14. Behind Closed Doors is not going to happen.

I can only assume there’s an alternative game being played somewhere between leagues, sponsors and Govts to force a hand?

  15. !!Bada Bing!! on

Ernie- once testing kits became available, what’s to stop players and officials getting tested, and all being well, play behind closed doors?

  16. GreenPinata,

I think, without a vaccine, lots of imperfect solutions will emerge to balance rising death tolls and economies collapsing. I can see us flipping in and out of lockdown for 18 months as we go through this but I see very little ability or will to have football prioritised amongst all this.

  17. Bada Bing – The optimum phrase being ‘all being well’ there is built on a house of cards I think…

One contaminated player and it’s game over instantly surely?

  18. Ernie,

All personnel involved will be tested prior to the game taking place.

The tests will be privately funded so it won’t affect key workers.

Similiar to what BP are doing to their offshore workers.

    Cheers and HH.

Don’t think test results are instantaneous – however Arsenal are back training today – but as individuals

  21. !!BADA BING!! on 27TH APRIL 2020 4:26 PM

How long does it take to get the result of the test?

On match day how long before kick off do you do the test?

What happens if one person tests positive?

  22. How reliable are the tests?

At what stage in the development of the disease does a test prove positive?

At what stage in the development of the disease does a person become contagious?

  23. Paul67 et al

You would be surprised just how many football supporters could get into the old Brockville, especially when Celtic was in town. Oh and the occasional Junior Cup Semi-Final. Either that or Desmond White was on the turnstiles that day. Still a great day to win the title in Falkirk. And no nothing will take away the pain of Athletico, a match linked to Argentina in more ways than one. And yet again we won the league away from home, that’s another nine in a row right there.

  24. GREENPINATA on 27TH APRIL 2020 4:28 PM

Off shore workers live and work in closed communities. No different to being in quarantine.

    Football’s different.

  27. BIG WAVY on 27TH APRIL 2020 4:26 PM

Unknown times ahead. But even if this drifts on and off for a considerable period we must as a society provide some form of enjoyment for the masses.

People will soon get really fed up with all work and no play.

Only my opinion and thank you for your reply.

    Cheers and HH.

  28. !!Bada Bing!! on

Ernie- Big Wavy- it would all be down to accuracy of test, and how quickly you can get a result, all conjecture of course, but if the Ventriloquist’s Dummy and his goons eventually get their act together, it could be quite a simple process.

  29. !!Bada Bing!! on

The huns will try to cloud everything as a Celtic driven conspiracy, it’s up to the rest to believe them,or go with the football option, for them it’s all about the bigotry, and the threats to clubs who don’t go with them, will be at the heart of it.

  30. What happens if a player tests negative but then goes home and catches the virus before his next game?

Will all players’ families have to remain in strict quarantine together with match officials etc? It’s hard to see how it will work.

  31. Ernie,

I fail to understand your logic. Offshore workers come home to their families and mingle with the general population.

What is so different for footballers ?

    Cheers and HH.
