No one offered Celtic job yet

1032

Roy Keane is due at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon and he is sure to be asked about Daily Mail reports this afternoon that he is set to be appointed Celtic manager as early as tomorrow.

It’s pretty clear Celtic have spoken to Keane but NO ONE HAS THE JOB YET, the Club are still speaking to a number of candidates.

We’re going to remain hostages to news reports for a while. The sooner things are sorted the better.

If you missed it earlier………

Lisbon Lion John Hughes is joining Brogan Rogan, Auldheid and Angela Haggerty for a CQN Question and Answer evening at the Manor Club, Wimbledon, on 21 June. The event is ticket only, so let me know if you would like to attend, celticquicknews@gmail.com

  1. I don’t read too much into DD meeting RK for an informal chat. As Paul alluded to a few days ago Celtic will meet and have informal chats with all interested parties. Only then will a decision be made.

    hope roy gets the job

he will be brilliant for celtic

i cant understand the negativity here

    he will rejuvenate the club

  7. People should remember that RK is a multimillionaire – that he already has a job which he likes and knows what being a CFC manager would entail for himself and his family

If and it’s still a big if he gets offered the job – then he will only take it on his conditions

That being the case I think he will do very well – if he takes it on

The guy is really one of us and knows exactly what we are up against here

He gets my vote because this will be his one and only chance

If he takes it – he has to succeed or give up any hope of having a career as a manager

If he takes it – he will get more money than any other candidate

I hope he does because I have always thought that the only two jobs that would really fire him up were us and MU – that’s why his previous record does not scare me

He is also very honest – so if he doesn’t think he could do the job – he will back off

    Bring it on!

This guy is a Hunskelper par excellent!q

Anyone who saw his one appearance at the bigotdome knows that!

Lenny killed off the real Huns – Keano will annihilate the zombies should they ever get as far as the top league!

quonno-disagree, this could be a change that can be good in a lot of ways i hope,no more interference.

    ===============================

Your right, that is my reading of the situation,if RK comes he will have had the nod from DD that no one else tinkers. Hopefully John Park going in that respect.

  9. Liverpool. Rickie Lambert.

Pacey, flowing attacking football played on the deck. Big centre forward, admittedly good feet, but pushing 30.

    £9 million/? Mental.

    ROY KEANE:

    Cons –

    – Uproar at Sunderland, player revolts, lost the dressing room.

    – Ipswich – WTF? Catastropher. Burned multi-millions, got nothng out of his signings or squad.

    Pros –

    – Miraculously resurrected Sunderland and re-intstalled them in the Premiership prior to the implosion.

    – The SMSM will be terrified of crossing him.

    – Profile – major respect across the globe and a huge bonus when it comes to attracting quality players to the club.

    – The Huns will be even more bitter.

Bring in a decent sidekick and he’s a gamble worth the ride.

not my first preference but what do I know mor ethan anyone else.

    doc,

As late as 5.45 this evening, RK was out on the pitch in the Aviva Stadium, in training gear, supervising the players.

Whenever the new man is appointed, it will be Celtic who make the announcement, possibly to the AIM, not the candidate.

‘Me,i am a republican, maybe like Connolly in the sense i see any break with the union a good thing.’

    ###

I stand to be corrected but to the best of my knowledge Connolly never advocated Scottish independence. Certainly the organisations he was a member of when he lived here did not have such a policy.

  16. Paul’s point – no-one’s been offered the job yet………but people are being talked to, some for definite reasons, others out of courtesy………

If I was a betting man, I’d say the RK meeja hoo-haa keeps the dogs off the scent while all this is being done.

Of -course I could a be a dessert made principally with egg whites and sugar!

  17. Seriously fellas has anybody read Pauls leader today ?

The circus is swarming round RK now and some have Swallowed the msm line. they know eff all…

Let’s see. RK the player was world class. The manager. Not so world class but maybe this is his time..

He would certainly be interesting at news conferences and be a different proposition if a Jambo wants to jump the hoardings and have a go :)

  18. It’s only probably my mad opinion.

Apart from what I hear here I don’t know much about Roy Keane as the manager. Had no pros or cons against him at Celtic. If I was the one at Celtic who made an offer and heard he is to decide within next 24 hours if accept the offer ro not I would say the candidate the offer collapsed. No one is bigger than my club fe.Legia to make decision before the club and announce it before the club. Surprise there if true.

Unless, I should read it : I have 24 hours to decide if I’m ready for the race to get this job.

  19. All this manager talk is vert interesting.

I am now going to sack my CP insider / rumour monger / amateur Deep Throat.

The news I got on Tuesday lunchtime was that it was going to be …

    Wait for it.

MMcC — I kid you not.

    How wrong could you be?

For the record — Not totally sold on RK.

However he could represent the stirrings of a growth agenda.

He won’t want to come and fill his team with C/ship rejects and zoomers.

  20. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Whoever gets the job, they will have a season of relative ease, in league terms, to get their bearings before the expected emergence of the Undead.

  21. My friends in Celtic,

We all have our own opinions for our management team.

But let us remember the manager ( any manager ) is only temporary. We have seen them come, and we will see them go.

Managers are for today, in fact all our custodians are for today. Come tomorrow we will still be here.

No matter who eventually transpires as manager he will have my full support, as will he ( or she ) who follows.

    HH, always in Celtic.

PS : The Wimbledon Q&A is a great idea, not only for our our SE bhoys & ghrils as it can also enhanse our profile as we strive to enter an environment more befitting of our status.

  23. I think keano will do well IF he gets the job. My only concern is that I don’t see how he fits into our strategy of scouting young players and developing them into valuable assets.

I hope he can bring the best out of our young players.

  24. Mmmm….

If its Roy, though not my choice, he’ll get my support.

Re his past at Sunderland and Ipswich, two thoughts…

    1) May be better for the past experiences, good and bad

    2) The set up at CP is well in advance of either of those clubs when RK went.

Celtics systems and senior management would be able to reign in some of Roy’s more unnecessary excesses and RK’s driven temperament would challenge the perceived laurel resting in the board room.

    It might just work!

On the other hand given Roy’s reputation, he will after giving 24 hours thought tell us “no” and I doubt anyone would be surprised!!!

  25. Wonder if RK as manager will mean that SC as coach is a goer?

    Huge bonus if it happens.

The triple crown would be PL going part time as chief scout and someone who can spell growth getting the CEO job.

RK = More interest / fans in the 22 counties?

That is the counties where the EPL groupies are in the ascendancy.

  26. Neustadt-Braw on

so off to ask his boss at home what he should do …..then he,ll be on his todd up in Glasgow ,getting even more crabbity as time passes….just what the fledglings and top pros at CFC need…..

the hand that rocks the cradle…..etc etc

if he signs then we will be with the club …full stop ….watch this space for another day …
