No one offered Celtic job yet

1032

Roy Keane is due at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon and he is sure to be asked about Daily Mail reports this afternoon that he is set to be appointed Celtic manager as early as tomorrow.

It’s pretty clear Celtic have spoken to Keane but NO ONE HAS THE JOB YET, the Club are still speaking to a number of candidates.

We’re going to remain hostages to news reports for a while. The sooner things are sorted the better.

If you missed it earlier………

Lisbon Lion John Hughes is joining Brogan Rogan, Auldheid and Angela Haggerty for a CQN Question and Answer evening at the Manor Club, Wimbledon, on 21 June. The event is ticket only, so let me know if you would like to attend, celticquicknews@gmail.com

I still think we should go foreign, I suppose Roy is sort of foreign.

If he gets the job, he will get my backing 100%.

Could do worse, could do better.

I suppose it all depends on what the great moustachioed one is planing, if he is planing something.

    quonno,

And you know more of management and business than DD, of selecting people for various tasks!

Compare your success with his, do you show him a clean pair of heals in the disciplines in which you walk and do your successes drown his into nothing.

Emotion rules the day on here, twas ever thus

    .

I must assume that DD approved of an injury prone soccer geriatric (he lasted all of six months) being introduced to Celtic fans on Boxing Day 2005 as being ‘Celtic’s biggest ever signing’.

  4. Where is Bournesouprecipe when I want him.

I posted on Monday than DD fancied Keane as manager and that Lenny was told he had to lose a player, and he didn’t like it.

BSR stated that I was posting unsubstantiated rubbish.

Well 2 days on and it is confirmed DD phoned MON to request permission to talk to Keane.

Sammy released when Lenny wanted to keep him .

I don’t post nonsense ,my source was a first class one.

Keane may still not be offered the job ,but DD was very keen to speak to him ,as has been proven.

Wouldn’t have been my choice but my opinion doesn’t count! Would rather him than Coyle that’s for sure.

Get behind him and what will be will be!

Qualifiers start in 6 weeks so let’s get to work Roy!

Keane is streetwise and won’t be PL’s puppet,i’m sure he’s phoned NL to find out the lie of the land.I wouldn’t take it as read that he will be the new manager.

  9. Just had a call to say RK is at CP, can anyone confirm?

    Auld Doc as it happens:-)

Not my best source, but other much better sources saying it’s Keane.

When that was read out by the stadium announcer I remember thinking ” Whit”?

My memory may be wrong ,but I thought he was announced as Celtics greatest ever player, either way it was a ludicrous statement ,and a bit of a slight on the many great players who gave large parts of their careers and some served all of their careers at Celtic.

Keane will do what he is told and like it. As long as PL is making a reasonable fist of things in a business sense he will be number one in DD’s book.

  14. Not convinced about Roy Keane but I wasn’t convinced about Neil either and turned out to be a great appointment. RK will get my 100% backing if he is appointed. A couple of observations.

    1) I think he will get similar treatment from media and bigots that Lenny was subjected to. Will he want to put his family through that?

    2) He is a strict disciplinarian. …so bye bye to Griffiths, Tony Watt and possibly Stokes.

Re Scott Brown, I would have agreed with you 4 years ago.

I’ve rarely seen such a change in a player, as a player, as a leader and as a man.

Player…much improved technically, tactically and disciplinary. A tremendous level of consistency over the last 3 years. He is a physical player, not unlike Roy Aitken IMO.

Leader…I would cite the respect he has earned from the players, present and past. His demeanour on the pitch, his encouragement of the players, his driving force and the way he responds to interviews and the media.

A man…he always remembers the fans, he (any time I’ve seen him) responds to autograph hunters and folk wanting to have their pics taken. Another thing, though I will not go into detail, is his unseen charity work.

At the end of the day I have to say that Paul’s right, theres going to be names bandied about, theres going to be managers interviewed but Im pretty sure at this stage that neither the press nor the bookies have a clue who it will be. One sells papers and the other wants the punters cash, its in their collective interests. I dont think any of us know for certain why Neil walked, and we wont know what terms any prospective manager will be offered. Its going to have to run it’s course, it certainly doesnt look like they had anyone lined up and same with NFL, God knows what happened. Like everyone else I just hope they get it right

I stated it was drivel not rubbish, and only referred to the contention that Neil Lennon left

Which of course must remain in the unsubstantiated drivel category, possibly forever.
