No one offered Celtic job yet

1032

Roy Keane is due at a press conference in Dublin this afternoon and he is sure to be asked about Daily Mail reports this afternoon that he is set to be appointed Celtic manager as early as tomorrow.

It’s pretty clear Celtic have spoken to Keane but NO ONE HAS THE JOB YET, the Club are still speaking to a number of candidates.

We’re going to remain hostages to news reports for a while. The sooner things are sorted the better.

If you missed it earlier………

  1. Speaking of coaches who demand high standards…I would rather have John Collins than Roy Keane. Just my 2 cents.

  2. I’m going to say what you don’t want to hear but its a glaring reality.

Celtics standards have dropped (i’m not talking about quality of football , i’m talking professionalism , discipline , guile and craft)

Jock Stein was very hard , disciplined and demanded total professionalism from the players – anything less and they were on the bench or out of the club.

The current celtic side , as much potential as they have, have dropped standards on and off the park – this showed in results/performance at home to Morton and Aberdeen. Its also showing off the park with players obviously not versed in HOW to represent celtic.

We need this back and need a manager who is a born winner , attention to detail , brings in players with similar will to win attitude and has grace and values.

Scott Brown , as much as i like him as a player/winner , should never be a Celtic captain.

    maybe I’ve been spoiled:)

There must be someone out there who likes R K apart from me.

Yup. His name appears to be Dermot Desmond who appears willing to give Keane yet another Celtic Park ego trip.

  10. Sunderland have just rewarded Gus Poyet a new contract to 2016.

That’s how you look after and keep a good manager.

Obviously Neil wasn’t seen as good enough or he wanted a get out clause.

Will be interesting to see if our next manager is given a rolling contract.

  12. MON says DD phoned him on Monday to ask permission to speak to Roy…

MON says he expected a club to come in for Keane at some stage.

  13. Meanwhile in other news – only 95 days till the transfer window closes.

V67 wants to follow Pochettino to Tottingham Hotspurs – trust the SSM had a sell-on clause inserted in the contract.

PSG are interested in Lloris (£20M?) – big FF being linked as a replacement.

    Should keep the bookies busy!

  17. quonno,

And you know more of management and business than DD, of selecting people for various tasks!

Compare your success with his, do you show him a clean pair of heals in the disciplines in which you walk and do your successes drown his into nothing.

  20. Kojo

I don’t want Keane as our next manager either.

Moyes would be the man for me.

Who ever it is will have to work within Celtics strategy of buy them as cheap rough diamonds and sell them when they improve.

    On another point .

You are a Celtic supporter irrespective of who the manager is.

You should not flounce because you don’t agree with the appointment of a certain individual as manager.

    Faithful through and through.

Celtic first Celtic last Celtic over all.

Reconsider this silly stance of flouncing from CQN.

Surely you are more mature than that.

I suspect Kojo would disappear and another member of the coterie would appear.

However ,flouncing is for spoilt children.

Not for the likes of the great Kojo.

  21. Before Leigh Griffiths signed this place was jumping up and down about it how nobody wanted him, not good enough ect ect he scored a few goals and it all stopped, I can see the same thing happening with Roy Keane if he gets the job. The guy is a born winner and will do things his way

Celtic have never been affiliated to any Irish association, or had a home base in Ireland

    ========================================

Absolutely correct. My mention of “an Irish club” is from a newspaper item of the time congratulating all concerned (under the auspicious of the archbishop of Glasgow) on the establishment of the new club.

The point of my message, not very successful obviously, was that the Scottish AND Irish connection need husbanded and celebrated, neither obstructing the other!
