No one wanted Celtic from Pot 4

1078

Let’s be honest with each other, there’s a bit of a leap between our European performances in recent seasons and the standards of Champions League football. My expectations for this season’s tournament hasn’t seen me check out accommodation options in Cardiff in May.

With that in mind, if we’re going to fall short, let’s do it against genuine quality opposition, some of the best players and tactically organised teams in the business. Barcelona, Manchester City (think Pep, but with more money) and Borussia Monchengladbach will bring this to Glasgow over the next few months.

Over our 15 year Champions League lifespan, Celtic surprise on the upside more often against better teams than against relative minnows. The biggest disappointments came in Scandinavia, not Iberia.

When the group stage finishes in December, we will faced enormous challenges. Players will have stretched themselves to lengths they didn’t know existed. What we know for sure, is that none of the other three teams in our group will have wanted Celtic from Pot 4. This is a hard draw for everyone.

Huge game tomorrow. Anything less than 100% and we’ll drop points. Enjoy it.

He believes a lot of fantastic myths.

He is involved with The Brotherhood. And he has to swear an oath to a skull

His best friend is one of the wee arra Peepil.

He has no real powers and has to rely on his puny wits.

    Definitely a lot of similarities.

You are right o ragged trousered one about “far cry” and to emphasise the point here’s an extract from the second epistle of St. James!

How does it help, my brothers, when someone who has never done a single good act claims to have faith? Will that faith bring salvation? If one of the brothers or one of the sisters is in need of clothes and has not enough food to live on, and one of you says to them, ‘I wish you well; keep yourself warm and eat plenty,’ without giving them these bare necessities of life, then what good is that? In the same way faith, if good deeds do not go with it, is quite dead. But someone may say: So you have faith and I have good deeds? Show me this faith of yours without deeds, then! It is by my deeds that I will show you my faith.

Yes you are right it was , and I knew that however I am not the one constantly putting down other Celtic supporters or constantly playing the uber Tim here . Can you not see a pattern emerging here , people are getting fed up with you ramming your OPINION down peoples throats . And dont bother coming back with the scroll by patter as I hate to see good Celtic men doing the in fighting thing all the time .

On another note tell Masty iI pass on my regards and hope to see him soon in Paddys .

Wasn’t the twisted cur behind the Phantom twitter account recently outed on another site as being none other than jabba’s wingman at level 5, Stephen Kerr?

Surely level 5 haven’t been sponsoring trolls to peddle crap and sow discord on CQN?

  8. Reggie – I’ve been arguing for a long time that we should be smarter about singing some songs. There may have been a case for it in years gone by, maybe, but not now. I support the Palestinian protests because they highlight a current injustice which has seen, among other things, 240 Palestinians killed since October and daily abuses of their human rights. The same is no longer true of Ireland. We are in a place to work constitutionally toward a republic.

Keeping the Rebs for the pub and away from the game keeps the spotlight on their bigotry, removes any accusations (as wrong as these are) that we are as bad as them and keeps them on the hook.

Right, about to take the dogs out for another walk before heading over to CP and CQNC…but I only want to meet and say ‘hello’…I don’t want to be in the clique…otherwise I’ll never be accepted in the Brazen Heid…(s’awright Tony, I’m just going to spy on them and

Be warned you will end up a Jehovah witness, or heading into the stadium with one of comrad Uladh’s Palastine flags rammed right up your arse, you have been warned.

  10. I don’t have much time for comic books or films but this sounds interesting:-

“Another criminal organization that the Phantom repeatedly clashes with is the Sky Band, a group of all-female air pirates. Frequent antagonists of successive Phantoms are the depraved inhabitants of the “Eastern Dark” region (also known as “Dakk”) who carry out human sacrifice and drug trafficking. The Phantom’s repeated role in thwarting the activities of the Dakk people is the source of his “Guardian of the Eastern Dark” title. Recurring villainous characters in the newspaper strips are pirate leader Baron Grover, terrorist commander Skul, warmonger General Bababu, and international terrorist The Python. Antagonists in the Team Fantomen stories include larcenous art collector Jason Parnassos, thief Vasti Riba, dictator Prince Grigor, murderous treasure hunter Bail, and Goldhand, named for his prosthetic hand made of solid gold. A major threat to the Phantom was Kigali Lubanga, the President of Bengalla for several years.] Foes of the Phantom in the Moonstone stories include disfigured kickboxer Manuel Ortega, Ali Gutaale and HIM. Other enemies of the Phantom include Rebecca Madison (in the Phantom 2040 series), and Xander Drax (in the 1996 film).”

    =============

I don’t know of any Celtic song that is banned. But I do know that singing IRA songs is hugely embarrassing to the club. It’s 2016. That particular war is over. People are trying to move on. It has nothing to do with our Irish heritage. The Irish national team I think has more Irish heritage than us, and yet they find plenty of great Irish songs that don’t mention the ra.

We all know how bad the media are in this country. Any time someone puts there head above the parapet to criticise the hun for these songs, as Tom English done last night, they get so caught up in whataboutery that it is simply not worth the abuse they take, so have no real option other than to give up.

Tony D – I think your advice on scrolling by your posts is spot on.

Well I hope more like you do that, and thank you. I’m fed up defending myself for not posting what people like, and for not sooking up the G B and C Ts arse, or waving a Palastine flag, or not standing up for the G B, of not wanting a representative from the C T on the board (that’s the day I hand my SB back)

  18. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Tony had a right laugh at the reaction of some on CQN when you posted a well constructed piece earlier in the week.

Those haranguing and calling you names just didn’t see the complete role reversal.

I’m unhappy at the vitriol aimed at Celtic fans by some of those who espouse to be left wing on here. Fascists by their actions.

To see themselves as others do?

    Watching spurs-Liverpool over my breakfast

Liverpool are good going forward. Their new CB looks like a smart player. Still think they need someone in the middle of the park to shore up the defence and get the break started. Think the man they are playing against today – wanayama – would have been a great buy for pool. And at the price Spurs paid, he was a steal in today’s market

  20. Right am offski to the Brazen, where no one says to you, Yi canny say that, Yi canny say this, he’s ma pal, stop saying that, that’s not right, enjoy yer day at CQN corner, here’s hoping for a good result and top of the league HH.

    Liverpool have dominated.
