Normalising violence

264

When you normalise violence, for example, by telling a broadcaster you cannot guarantee the safety of one of their commentators, or when you refuse to act swiftly when a coach headbutts an opponent on live TV after a game, you invite society’s worst demons into your domain.

Like most of the world, the majority of football clubs do their best to rid themselves of the casually violent.  The game’s reputation was taken into the sewer 50 years ago, before slowly and expensively brought back into the mainstream.

Flirting with violence only encourages the mindless to take it one step further.  The cost takes time to manifest, but decent fans want no part of it, their attachments weaken, leaving the tub thumpers ownership of the narrative.  It is also a glaring sign of decline and weakness.

Well done to Steve Clarke, Callum McGregor and the rest of the Scotland team on collecting six points from their opening two European Championship games.  A win in Norway in June would set the national team up for a classic Scotland capitulation against Georgia and Cyprus.

    TET,

Might have been but I’m sure I posted it on here quite a few times around the time, it would also be a bit confusing when you still have reservation on whether a virus exists :)

  2. Canman

All you have to do is check the names of the relevant viruses, remarkably there virtually no Flu during the C19 plandemic, quite amazing when you actually think about it, but most folks don’t and that’s what they count on

Just like nobody bothered to check the ONS website, more fool them/

  3. Canman

Just afore I go, there are quite a few Drs who totally dispute the germ theory scam, check them out, it will be hard as they are cancelled, but they are there, Dr Cofman [SP] Dr Tom Cowan are a start.

    TET,

I thought about it a lot that’s why the patent makes it unquestionable.

    TET,

Did, but a patent means they don’t need to isolate it to prove it.

Thats a penance. Burnt toast to get a pint

Or is it ‘burned toast’ ”

Once you have burned the toast, it becomes burnt toast.

It is seldom possible to know if what we read is true.

    For example:

“Thomas Cowan, a purveyor of debunked theories, can no longer practice medicine in California. He plans to become an “unlicensed health coach.”

Who `if anyone, `debunked` and how do I know if anyone actually did?

Why can he ` no longer practice medicine in California`?

Who supplies the answers to those kind of questions and do they have a vested interest?

    I could go on but…….

It is seldom possible to know if what we read is true.

`night all and roll on Sunday ( When once again we play a day AFTER the Huns have probably won. Not only that, they get an extra day`s preparation for their game against us. Only one day, I know but small margins often count in football).

    HS,

I suggest you have a look at the link I posted, the guy David Martin’s credentials are unquestionable, or at least you can judge for yourself when you watch. But when governments across the world use his services it sort of becomes a moot point.

  11. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    HS,

As for Thomas Cowan, there are quite a few dissenting doctors in the US I’ve read about, who have had their license rescinded, a strategy used to silence dissent

    SFTB,

So lazy its poor. There is a major difference between the information you provide and what I linked, had you even bothered to watch any of the vids or the Official German inquiry into Covid-19 I posted a while ago, for your info ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF2pK_L-Hn8 ). Though I don’t expect you to watch it as you appear to have a problem acknowledging information you did not select.

If you had/did you would have been aware that David Martin actually provides the documentary evidence including the patent numbers and official copies of the statements he refers to, as opposed to the poor fact checker article which insists he only implies/alludes to things, forgetting completely to mention his documentary evidence is provided.

So factcheck . org eh ( https://www.allsides.com/news-source/factcheckorg-media-bias ), exposes the article you link was sponsored by Google. I have no doubt you have complete faith in Googles objectivity and veracity but surprised you didn’t just quote them instead of trying to dress up a paid for article as objective.

The factcheck .org also has competitors ( https://capitalresearch.org/article/dishonest-fact-checkers/ ). While a little digging on capital research can show up as many questions about their veracity as The Annenberg Public Policy Center, I make no pretence that they are the only reliable source, just that they are as reliable as the outfit you provided.

Relying on Reuters ffs, that is just plainly poor and lazy, they are an organisation that are famous for being a propaganda organisation and have admitted for it, then told the world they’d changed, aye right. And here’s a nice wee snippet from their about page “Founded in 1851, Reuters has remained true to the Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias”, there are plenty of journalist peer reviewed research studies that conclude they remain a propaganda outlet.

And yes the BMJ. While I note there is still no peer review for that article (what happened there) but there are a considerable number of responses from organisations the article misrepresents. I suggest you click on the Responses tab at the top of the article. You could also check this out.

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1126057/

Maybe no be so lazy next time you provide, google sponsored fact checkers, notorious propaganda organisations and commercial medical journals dependent on pharma sponsorship and advertising for their existence, then try to pass them off as objective and reliable eh. Or at least try checking who sponsors and advertises with them before you try to convince others they are. It doesn’t take too long to do a quick check on the veracity of the fact checkers. It took me 15 minutes using Brave Browser search engine. This has got to be your poorest effort in a long time, providing non peer reviewed easily discredited sources when you expect better from anyone else, think about it, if I’d provided such drivel you’d have a field day.

Very disappointed with your effort to misguide people.

Due to circumstances beyond… I wasn’t able to reply to your comment yesterday – those strawman you created will have to just tilt in the breeze

So just a quick one, how do you reconcile these two!?

    SFtBs @ 29th MARCH @ 1:15 PM,

I never sought to state that anyone should stop discussing it [libertarianism] or self identifying as such

    SFtBs @ 28TH MARCH @ 6:04 PM,

… Nor with Libertarians who don’t like being called Tories.

Those Tossers can do one. And if they are welcomed by CQN in the future, then CQN can do one too.

    Pretty unequivocal eh!!

    SFtBs @ 28th MARCH @ 1:15 PM,

I don’t want regimentation anywhere but I’ll plead guilty to wanting to proscribe things.

Luckily you don’t get to proscribe things and considering your seemly poor grasp of twenty first century politics that’s just as well.

    Have a great day all

Got to say I thought Libertarians were just the new Anarchists with a fancy new name.

  15. I deal with covid deniers conspiracy theorist in my job. They are so far down the rabbit hole that they couldn’t see the truth if it slapped them. I pity them as they must have some shit going on in their lives to be so scared of life.

I do my job but part of me struggles because I watched my Dad catch covid, get unwell, slip into a fevered sleep and die over a few days. It wasn’t fake and it wasn’t flu. The health system crumbled around him when it was overwhelming. Deniers are dicks. My mum was close to death because they allowed her to be with him as he was dying. Long story but the medical whanau in NZ worked with my family in Scotland to get her through.

We had a high uptake of the vaccine in NZ and a very very small death rate per head of population. I am happy that we saved our older and more vulnerable or comorbid citizens. Personally I think the virus has evolved in a way that it has become another flu albeit a nasty one. People can now choose to take boosters or not. If it were to happen again I think that we don’t need lockdowns or compulsory vaccination but that is with the benefit of hindsight, at the time we had no idea how bad it could get. It certainly brought out the best and worst in us and some people are still living the conspiracy dream. I pity them.

  16. Good morning all from a very dark and wet at the moment Garngad.

I also met two skiers arguing about whether you ‘zig, zag’ or ‘zag zig’ on a slalom

They agreed to ask the first person they met at the bottom to settle it

One skier asked the first guy they met ‘ is it zig/zag or zag/zig?’

    He says ‘ I don’t know, I’m a tobogganist’
