Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player

539

Call me a cynic, but after recent “soft” red cards shown against Motherwell and Hamilton players facing Celtic, I sense a bit of “even themselves out” in store for us at Hampden on Sunday.  Memories of Hampden semi-finals against Inverness and Ross County, where we were denied progress and (probably) a trophy due to red cards feature heavily in the memory.

The best chance Newco have to stop Celtic and reach their second Scottish Cup final would be to fall poleaxed on the ground after each and every challenge from a Celtic player.  Bobby Madden may feel obliged to show that referees are not scared to red card Scotland’s top players.

Celtic being reduced to 10 men didn’t do Newco any good at Ibrox last month, but they would bite your hand off for a second crack at those numbers.

We need to play smart, especially Scott Brown, who I expect will be targeted.  Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player will be short.

Seems I upset you yesterday. Inadvertently,of course.

I offered an immediate apology, but also requested an explanation to where I went wrong.

I wouldn’t like to upset you inadvertently again,so would appreciate a response.

None of those red cards would be considered debatable in any other league on the planet.

Loadapish to suggest otherwise. Even worse to have them prepped as a response to doubtless jiggerypokery on Sunday.

  7. Tobago Street, if we let Hibs have at least a point when, as rumoured, we visit them straight after the split, then we can clinch 7iar at home to Sevco the following week! ;o)

In other news, I suspect that there won’t be many old timers registering a vote for the PoTY. In order to register to do so it wants your date of birth, but you can’t type it in… instead it displayes a month calendar initialised to April 2018, and you have to tab back a month at a time for 50+ years to get to your own DoB (if you’re an auld gimmer like me!). Or lie.

Perhaps they’ll have a lot of votes from people apparently still in nappies!

  14. Hot Smoked, congratulations to you and your parents when it eventually happens.

Perhaps this is why Celtic Park can look so empty when crowds of 50,000+ are declared… we’ve thousands of fans who were only born this year (or are yet to “pop”) and thus can’t yet be seen by the cameras because they’re not as tall as the back of the seat in front of them.

  15. The Griff delivers a vicious accurate corner . Armstrong is ok. A couple of weeks ago KT took them . He hit the first man a couple of times then he hit a beauty -with power and swerve. With a bit more practiced he could be the man ,which would allow the Griff to be in box.

With free-kicks again first option is Leigh. If its a bit further out Dembele can do it ,as he’s done for the French 21s.

  16. Extra-time on Sunday ?

If we’re level with minutes to go, and the huns have the ball anywhere in our penalty box, i expect they’ll be given an opportunity to avoid extra-time.

Hopefully we’ll have the game sewn up long before that.

Checked back, and have to take issue with it. I’m not in the habit of disagreeing with posters despite my alleged reputation. Particularly not people who I usually agree with.

But… I’ll leave it to you,my last word on it,done as far as I’m concerned.

    BOURNESOUPRECIPE on 9TH APRIL 2018 11:21 AM

I also politely disagree with Brendan Rodgers regarding the potential title clincher.

Police Scotland will determine the date of this game, Scotland is a bit of a police state when it comes to football as we already know, and have fought against. They swing into special operations as soon as a Celtic supporters bus gets near a motorway.

Brendan is wasting his time, history shows which end the police horses face at the first hint of trouble, the Sevco support is a fatally wounded animal, and they’ll be spared any further humiliation, or imtimidation after all, someone might make the sign of the cross and ‘cause’ a riot.

Celtic fans are asked to mix with with son of spawn, a club in its infancy too often as it is, their club was left behind and should remain meaningless, in a meaningless fixture .

We have already won the league that contains fixtures that shouldn’t be described as Celtic v Rangers.

No for the first time, not sure what your comment on my post was meant to prove.

Its Sevco the new club, not Rainjurz, the fixture is against and everything Celtic do associated with every one of these fixtures should be treated as such.

Celtic media certainly does increasingly so.

  20. What’s the point of taking short corners?

Is it an admission that long corners are a waste of time?

And who decides, is it the manager before the game, or the player at the time?

There’s something far, far wrong that Celtic can’t score from corners against domestic opposition.

  23. HOT SMOKED,

That surprises me. bookies don’t often get it wrong, but you have to think that they must have a fairly good chance of getting a penalty. No idea if he’s still their penalty taker, but if I was a hun, and a betting man, I’d be having some of that. Thank God I’m neither :-)))

But the tactical advantage offered by the corner is lost.

It’s not like, domestically, Celtic have any shortage of possession of the kind they have from a short corner.

  27. Our penchant for the lofted free kick or corners is a huge reason for our lack of potency.

Firstly we are not strong enough to win the physical battles and secondly our unbiased refs love to call imaginary fouls to nullify our attacks.

Coaches see the same things fans see so the fact it has not been addressed lies with them.

Whipping a ball in with space should be within the capabilities of a few of our players.

Just need coaches to instruct them to do so.

*you sound like my late da Ernie, he used tae freak at Celtic taking short corners, said we were hopeless at corners.

I once reminded him about Charles Patrick’s 2 at Brockville, Big Billy’s Bumper at hampden 1965 and similar 2 year later against Vojvodina, 3 games he was at BTW. His response was “aye 3 and the only reason you remember them is they were rare occasions”

I had an ould neighbour who would also lament at our efforts tae get the ball intae the box, this was during the Wilderness Years though, he would say that we should take the ball tae the bye line and then cut it back and the best exponent at that was Neilly Mochan, who hit it that hard that it could have went anywhere even in off a defender.
