Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player

539

Call me a cynic, but after recent “soft” red cards shown against Motherwell and Hamilton players facing Celtic, I sense a bit of “even themselves out” in store for us at Hampden on Sunday.  Memories of Hampden semi-finals against Inverness and Ross County, where we were denied progress and (probably) a trophy due to red cards feature heavily in the memory.

The best chance Newco have to stop Celtic and reach their second Scottish Cup final would be to fall poleaxed on the ground after each and every challenge from a Celtic player.  Bobby Madden may feel obliged to show that referees are not scared to red card Scotland’s top players.

Celtic being reduced to 10 men didn’t do Newco any good at Ibrox last month, but they would bite your hand off for a second crack at those numbers.

We need to play smart, especially Scott Brown, who I expect will be targeted.  Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player will be short.

  5. Re whatever papers don’t you’re read. In the late 1960s I was an ambitious young civil servant and applied for many executive jobs. For something reason then, the interview panels always seemed to ask about what daily paper I chose to read.

  6. DELANEYS DUNKY, yes listened to it, did you ever by any chance attend mass at christ the king cathedral, lovely cathedral despite what the scouse huns say, they call it paddys wigwam, stupid huns.hh.

  7. Gene,Lawell said at the A G M,that it would cost between 30 and 40 million,to build a new Main Stand, well surely with all the technology, they could at least build from the inside, take away all that steel structure, which is a blight on the rest of the Stadium, at least put another tier on the present stand, how much would that cost?

  8. Big Packy, I have been it several times. I think it is breathtaking when you enter it. Which is saying something for a ‘modern’ building. I have also been in the Anglican Cathedral just down the road and found it cold. Maybe that’s just me. They don’t have the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

  9. Man City struggling to break down a packed Liverpool defence, and not creating many clear cut chances, despite havimg creative geniuses like da Silva and de Bruyne.

    Hmmm.

Best night I ever had in Wavertree was after a game at Anfield. Liverpool 0 Celtic 2. The Everton fans in the Irish club would not let me buy a drink. Happy Days

Never judge a man by the newspapers he reads, the type of dog he owns or the cathedral he frequents

Correct, I was asked what I thought of the economic situation in Rhodesia ( as it was then) that was for a clerical post in the early 80s.
