Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player

539

Call me a cynic, but after recent “soft” red cards shown against Motherwell and Hamilton players facing Celtic, I sense a bit of “even themselves out” in store for us at Hampden on Sunday.  Memories of Hampden semi-finals against Inverness and Ross County, where we were denied progress and (probably) a trophy due to red cards feature heavily in the memory.

The best chance Newco have to stop Celtic and reach their second Scottish Cup final would be to fall poleaxed on the ground after each and every challenge from a Celtic player.  Bobby Madden may feel obliged to show that referees are not scared to red card Scotland’s top players.

Celtic being reduced to 10 men didn’t do Newco any good at Ibrox last month, but they would bite your hand off for a second crack at those numbers.

We need to play smart, especially Scott Brown, who I expect will be targeted.  Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player will be short.

Looks like Pep Guardiola will spend the second half in the stands after he let his feelings know about the decision to disallow Leroy Sane’s goal.

It’s not hard to see why he is so livid. Replays show Loris Karius’ clearance did come off James Milner last before Sane slotted in.

Sorry pal I misread your post as referring to a Liverpool Everton game

    Doh!

  3. 15 years as a civil servant before I retired. Have to say I never experienced a hint of bigotry. I got two promotions and had a few Celtic minded managers, and higher, above me. Maybe things have moved on.

Hope so and they put Balmedie back together when done. Not so long ago they wouldn’t even say when it was going to be finished. Started 5 years late. Finishing 7 years late.

  5. DAVID66, how are you my fenian brother, better than being called a protestant bigot, sorry mr paisley if your lookin down, frankie and benny had a haircut this afternoon, 2 hours on the grooming table, dont think they liked that, both have ignored me since.lol.hope cheeko is well. hh.

  6. BP we are all fine, Cheeko hates getting his haircut as well and goes in a mood for a day or 2 after.

Just looking forward to winning this game on Sunday and moving closer to back to back trebles, another piece of history that will never be broken if achieved.

    Hail Hail

  7. Only time I experienced bigotry in my civil service career was when I was in Edinburgh.

  8. Guys I was in Royal Mail for 24 years and witnessed quite a few accounts of workplace bigotry by management, indeed getting caught up in it a few times as I hated that sort of thing and by the way on both sides.

    Ron,

Interesting, been Edinburgh civil servant for over 30 and never experienced any of that stuff at all and I’ve worked in loads of Departments.

  12. BP first game 67????? They died..

New club since 2012 but same feeling, I get what you mean as it’s the same shite that follow them.

The only bigotry I received in my NHS career was when I worked in Western General Embra. They sure hated a loud and proud Weegie Fenian did the Embra goat botherers. Mainly Hertz fans I add.

My oldest friend (since we were 4 years old) is a big Everton fan. I go over with him to Goodison every now and then for a game and a day out (sometimes taking in a race meeting at Aintree Haydock or Chester)

Always good fun. Actually had “tea with the vicar “at Goodison once…and NO that’s not a euphemism

I know a few Hertz fans who are as vehemently anti-Celtic as any Sevconian

  16. PRESTONPANS,

Head of the division and all the heads of department were active Hearts supporters. One of them openly admitted never to recruiting a fenian

  17. DD I got pulled up by a Royal Mail Hun manager one time for being at Ipox on the Saturday afternoon, he was having a dig cause we beat them, asking me if I enjoyed singing at Ipox and even described what I was wearing. He then went on to moan about the RM van I was driving as it was in a state, I just picked it up from one of his lodge pals that worked beside me and had not driven it yet. We ended up in a shouting match, and I nearly put him on his arse, I had to be restrained . I put a complaint in about him being a bigot and after investigating it they dropped it..

Your mate will remember that game at Anfield. He will forget the FA Cup final at Wembley a month or so later. Liverpool 3 Everton 1 I think.

  19. We should have kept hold of that Virgil bhoy. ;.)

City throwing everything at that defence and it’s holding fast.

  20. Man city hit their 16th corner and it looks like they’re using same manual as us.

    Firminho 2-1 pool.

Pep has again not delivered in Europe and probably won’t unless he finds a system that can defend.

You’ve got me intrigued, what decade are you talking about , I worked in the private office may know a few of those assistant/under secretaries of the time.

Having worked in Fife and Embra, I prefer West Coast Rangers fans to East Coast Hertz fans.
