Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player

539

Call me a cynic, but after recent “soft” red cards shown against Motherwell and Hamilton players facing Celtic, I sense a bit of “even themselves out” in store for us at Hampden on Sunday.  Memories of Hampden semi-finals against Inverness and Ross County, where we were denied progress and (probably) a trophy due to red cards feature heavily in the memory.

The best chance Newco have to stop Celtic and reach their second Scottish Cup final would be to fall poleaxed on the ground after each and every challenge from a Celtic player.  Bobby Madden may feel obliged to show that referees are not scared to red card Scotland’s top players.

Celtic being reduced to 10 men didn’t do Newco any good at Ibrox last month, but they would bite your hand off for a second crack at those numbers.

We need to play smart, especially Scott Brown, who I expect will be targeted.  Odds on Madden sending off a Celtic player will be short.

Good thing we didn’t have the CL games in LMS ….

I was expecting Man City to win 3-0 at home, and Barca to win 1-2 away!

I ’emigrated’ from Glesca to Embra years ago and expected to experience less anti Celtic stuff but I was mistaken.

  3. Roma – 4 attempts, 3 on target. 3 goals.

    Just shows ye…

    But they’re not there yet…

Do you remember the Janefield Street attack by the Polis bassas on horses. I ended up with a bruised face. Next day at work, word got round that I had been attacked by scum Polis. My masonic boss called me into his office and tried to issue me with a warning for my bruised face. My shop steward was a Duntocher fenian. We ran rings round the old masonic bigot.

  5. Oh to be a fly on the wall at the SPFL meetings.

Remember this is the organisation that brazenly issued fixtures that allowed the huns to play their final fixture a day after everyone else the year they finished third in the championship.

These are the type of decisions that remove any doubt that the game is rigged in favour of the Huns.

I spoke to a member of the SFA recently and he opined that the huns cause more work and headaches than the other 41 clubs combined.

Very refreshing to see unexpected teams in the semifinals, who would have thought Roma and Liverpool in it.

  7. DD ffs. By the way I had quite a few run ins with Hun managers as I am sure you did.

As my auld da worked in Royal Mail he used to go aff his nut with me, cause I couldn’t keep my mouth shut. My dad although a true Tim was quite a quiet guy, although I have found out

a few things about him since his passing that has surprised me in a good way, from my cousin Brian and his dad, who has since passed as well.

  8. If you can teach your team to be positionally patient against these modern possession teams you have a good chance.

The era of possession above all else is nearing it’s end.

Modern coaches are learning to separate and identify the different types of possession and the effectiveness of some.

Real Madrid and Bayern seem the best equipped to win the Champions league and both their coaches have a pragmatic approach to the game.

  13. DELANEYS DUNKY David66, regards the bigot thingy, my village glenboig, was 60 percent catholic 40 percent protestant, remember the church of scotland minister going round the village, the reverend mr king, shaking hands with us ,are you a member no no no no was the reply, fair play he just smiled, but one thing has stuck with me after all those years, we were never taught to hate protestants like they hate us can honestly say that.hh.

  14. Manchesity have had some 6 days. – 0-3 to Liverpool, 2-3 to Man Utd (having been 2 up at half time!), 0-1 to Liverpool (having been 1-0 up at half time!). And to think that some folk were previously suggesting they could be the 2nd Invincibles….

Sleep tight (only 5 more to go…)

  15. Can’t believe post-split fixtures haven’t been announced yet. I suppose when you are considering the effect these fixtures will have on 500,000,000 world wide fans you have have to make sure you get it right.

Might we have to wait until after the FTSFA semi-final to find out when our last five fixtures will be?

Commiserations on the loss of your wee pal.

God bless her, and thoughts with those she has left behind

  17. Same programme, patients ops getting cancelled at last minute due to no beds….. Wtf

    Is the NHS finished ????

I must say in my recent experience of a new hip, I could not fault the NHS.

But some people have had nothing but issues with it.

All really hard working staff as well.

  18. A good friend of mine, sports physio who has worked with a number of clubs including Celtic, assures me that of all the supporters that hate us, the huns are only third or fourth-worst. Hearts first, Falkirk second, think he said Airdrie third. And said he’d rather watch us at Ibrox than at Brockville or, these days, Falkirk stadium.

I think it is a double hatred from Hertz fans.

They hate Glaswegians and hate Catholics.

Had more scraps in 5 years in Fife and Embra, than I have had in 40 odd years in Glasgow.

    Of course you need luck.

But you have to put yourself in the position to benefit from such.

Continually doing the same helps your opponent to be lucky also.

City were predictable and Liverpool held position well as they knew what was coming as city had very little variation.

Would Salah and Mane have the same license to be so individual under Pep or would they be schooled to make the higher percentage plays?
