Celtic’s objective for today is to add a striker, who is happy to take his chances at Celtic behind Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele. The target (as you will know) is 19-year-old France youth international Odsonne Edouard.
We have agreed a loan with Celtic having the option to buy for an eight-figure sum. There remains a complication between player and current club, Paris Saint-Germain, which all parties are hoping will resolve, but this one has the potential to go to the wire.
Odsonne is regarded by manager, scouts and coaches at Celtic as an absolute star. He made four starts for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season before off-field matters got in the way (which I’ll not trivialise, but we’ll deal with at a later date). He is a player who needs to leave Paris for new influences in a fresh environment. The move to Celtic could be the break he needs.
The initial loan period gives the player a chance to resolve any legacy issues before Celtic commit to breaking transfer records.
The manager has been impressed by Odsonne’s attitude thus far. He knows he would be the junior party in a three-man attacking roster, and that his objectives for the season is to press those above him.
In the coming weeks, our fit 19-year-old central defender will be joined by three more-senior team-mates. Competing with Kristoffer Ajer for fourth spot is only likely to be attractive to another teenage prodigy. I don’t expect movement on this front.
At this stage of the window, the chances of anyone near the first team being allowed to leave are reducing, but there are a lot of worried teams with >£100m of TV money out there. Enough to fund transfer fees and provide wages to unsettle the most faithful of stalwarts.
There will be calls made, you can be sure of that. I know some people at Celtic Park who will be happy people after 23:00 tonight, when the window in England closes, without any of our players being unsettled.

However to qualify at a minimum…..you will need an email address and universal jobmatch account and bank or post office account
You will be saddened at the amount of people I had to help set these up for….
Just wait till people with no budgeting experience are given full rent and monthly unemployment payments into their account….my sister who works in housing is dreading it….don’t be surprised if increased homelessness is the outcome…..or a sharp increase of people struggling with arrears….

Sadly LURKINTIM your are right….many people who have trouble trying to budget their benefit money, when faced with long term unemployment, depression, no future, no family or close friends. DRINK and/or GAMBLING problems ( not to forget drugs), will think they are millionaires when thei rent money drops into THEIR bank account each month ?
I have already signed a form with my Housing Association to confirm that I want them to get my rent money DIRECT from DWP…as I do not want to even see that money.

Universal Credit and the FACT that people can opt to have the rent money paid into THEIR accounts instead of going to the landlord is going to cause even more social problems.
There will be some smart alecs who have job security etc, who will say that people who spend their rent money elsewhere deserve all they get etc ?
its not quite that simple, but this Universal credit will have a whole “domino effect” on some folks lives.
The temptation to misuse their rent money will be there month after month until……………?

Ive said it a couple of days ago…NONE of us have ANY idea what goes on backstage at Celtic Park…unless you are fortunate enough to be a fly on the boardroom/dressing room wall ?
Without knowing for sure, my guess is that the majority of us on CQN are just ordinary Celtic punters, and there is little or no point in arguing with each other imo ?
Maybe this blog should be shut down for a while during the “night shifts” if some Bhoys refuse to behave themselves ?

Last night seemed crazy on here. The poor Moderators must have worked overtime & there is still 5 or 6 deletable posts which have survived.
Anyhow great window as far as I’m concerned. Yes I would have loved a centre half but Dedryck is almost back, we will be fine on domestic scene but could be caught out in Europe. Then again against the likes of PSG & Bayern we could get caught out regardless.
We will get our centre half for Christmas & have him in place for our Europa Cup campaign.
I can’t believe Celtic didn’t put a bid in for Virgi, and Ramos, they would have been good buys to cover our temp. Central defenders problem we have at this present time until our players where fit, then dump the two of them in the January window, we may loss a few quid, but that’s ok we are loaded, this board hasent a clue, and Rogers is a poor man’s Jose Marino.
