OLD BHOYS MOWBRAY, CADDIS REUNITED AT ROVERS

TONY MOWBRAY has been reunited with Paul Caddis – eight years after they worked together at Celtic.

The defender became the Blackburn Rovers’ sixth signing of the summer after agreeing a two-year deal.

Mowbray is well aware of Caddis’ qualities, having handed him 13 appearances during the 2009/10 season his seven-month stint as Hoops gaffer.

The Rovers boss believes the 29-year-old right-back will be an excellent addition to his promotion-seeking squad.

He said: “I’m delighted Caddy has signed. We’ve had him a few weeks, we’ve had a look at him and his physical condition has improved significantly over the last three weeks.

“I didn’t question his talent, because he was a good footballer as a younger player when I had him at Celtic.

“I think he’s proven that he can play at a higher level, as he’s played in the Championship for Birmingham City for a long time.

“His personality is good for our dressing room and our group and I think his quality will help.

“I brought him to compete to play at the right-back position with Ryan Nyambe. I think it was an area of the pitch we needed some competition and Paul brings that.

“He’s a different type of footballer to Ryan, but at times this season his quality with the ball at his feet will be something that is required in our team.

“Ultimately, he’s a good lad and a good footballer. Hopefully, he’ll help us on a journey to get out of this league and beyond.

“We hope, too, he stays fit, creates real competition, enjoys his time here and helps us achieve our aims.”
