Adam Matthews has been on top form this season, his pace and partnership with Mikael Lustig have been unfailing for Celtic, so Neil Lennon will clearly feel robbed at a top players injury-enforced absence for three months.
It could be worse.
An injury to Forster, Ambrose, van Dijk or Izaguirre would be difficult to accommodate but we are not short of right side-midfield options. James Forrest is now back from injury and although Derk Boerrigter joined as a left-sided player, he has already featured on the right for Celtic. If Boerrigter plays on the left Samaras, Commons and Stokes can all feature on the right.
One man’s cloud is another’s silver lining, just ask Beram Kayal, who kept Victor Wanyama on the bench until he was injured in December 2011. Victor got the run in the team he needed and never looked back.
Signing van Dijk was a response to an unexpected transfer request/not in the right frame of mind to pull a jersey on statement from Kelvin Wilson, but the major planned summer activity was to inject pace into the team for Champions League games, specifically through Boerrigter and Pukki. For various reasons we’re not there yet, maybe Ajax at home later this month will change that.
Blown away by the 1254125 donations, which have flooded in since Friday. Each donor, from those who donated £5 to the several who gave £125 (like it!) are a credit to the spirit of those whose footsteps you walk in. Promise to stop pestering with a link to the page. Soon.
Thank you.

But for a cruel twist of fate, John Kennedy would be our team captain just now. (no disrespect to Broonie) Have a feeling JK will have a huge part to play in the Celtic future.

I was away on holidays for most of the last 2 weeks but I noticed this snippet on the BBC website that made me laugh very heartily indeed. Apologies if it was already posted by someone else at the time. I have to say I laughed my ballex off! Willie Frazer’s court appearance last week! Its like something out of Monty Python. Have a look at this short video and if you don’t laugh out loud there is something wrong with you!

I would not have been averse to John Kennedy as captain of Celtic and I somehow believe that neither would Scott Brown.
The pity is that none of us will ever know just how good John Kennedy might’ve become.

Howabout, maybe kevs just got a life?
again if posters disagree with what he posts, then either ignore it or deal with what he posts. some resort to personal abuse instead but thats probably not best IMO
It was good to see ole Dave King’s name popping as Sevco continue on their circuitous losing streak.

Took me back a bit that did. I used to love using that term (oxymoron) with a class of 4th. year half wits that I taught. They could never work out if I was getting at them or not, which I always was of course.
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS:
There’ll be a lot of names not included in the annual who put a lot of effort into making this place a good place. Kano, Pablo, Celtic_lover and all the others too that have gone to sit with their makers. I’d love to see their names in big bold letters before I would feel the need to see my own.
Many will read the annual who don’t often frequent the blog, I don’t want them to associate me with people I try hard to distance myself from and for the sake of harmony… ignore.
That’s my choice mate, it’s no big deal really. Let’s just call it a petty pink principle and leave it at that.

I hope you do,mate.
If it’s any consolation, there were plenty being offered on Tuesday night for Barcelona,in town and around the ground.
In most cases,at face value.
Might be worth chancing it anyway.

Hi All,
Apologies to anyone who objects to this or to Paul67 if he thinks I’m taking advantage of the blog, but I feel this is similar to what is happening to football supporters under the SNP legislation. The only difference in this case is that there is no legislation!
Please consider signing this.

Who would win in a fight between the naysayers and the yaysayers?
Speaking of cuckoo clocks, I felt privileged and moved when in Lourdes a few years ago to find a cuckoo clock from behind the doors of which popped the Madonna every hour on the hour. Quality, sincere clockwork.

Agree fully with all your points. I believe in fate, and hope that JK can fulfill an important role at the club he loves.
Greensideup:
I don’t think Elbow’s tried to do Beram Kayal. That is my honest assessment, if I was to call it any other way I would be lying.
I didn’t forget Lasley.
DD,
Something I have long claimed too. John Kennedy woulda been our big Billy of the 21st century.
The first time I seen him in the flesh I thought he’d be a player. The league was over that game but he stuck out to me in a team littered with Young guns and ‘unknowns’
The youth coaches can’t pick their players for the first team as that’s Neil Lennons job.
Neil has been reluctant to use youth in his tenure except in a few preseason friendlies.
This seems to be a reflection of Neil’s cautious approach.
The Adam Mathews situation will tell us a lot.
Young Fisher has looked very good in any first team outing so far and would be the most suitable candidate for Adams squad place.
If Neil chooses to keep going with experience then that will be a good indication of why our youth lack progression.
Kitalba
You said at the end of your post
“The pity is that none of us will ever know just how good John Kennedy might’ve become.”
—————————————————————————————————————-
I think the real pity is all of us had a fair idea of exactly how good John Kennedy would have become had his career not been cut short by a cowardly Romanian thug. Which is what made that challenge all the more horrific as it robbed Celtic and Scotland of a player who most people felt was destined to be a top class player and likely captain of club and country.
I remember being in the Nou Camp in the gods for the 0-0 draw and can still vividly remember how well JK played that night.
I also remember watching the Scotland v Romania game and being both horrified and incensed by the challenge. Easy to forget that this was just a stupid pointless friendly as well.

Kitalba,
I’m not hoping to change your mind but I disagree with you disagreeing. ;)
The elbows incident happened not far from my seat I clearly seen it and remember elbows wincing in agony, hand waving in the air in a ‘get.the morphine on here’ style because he knew he had done kayal and was playing the victim card to escape a red.
All imo of course.

It was for that reason that I specifically stated that I respected the opinions of those who have asked to be removed, and also that it wasn’t aimed at a particular poster.
I do get your point,I just-quite honestly-don’t quite understand it.
On the other hand,I read TAMRABAM’s post just prior to reading yours. And I know exactly what he means.
I resorted to personal abuse-a one liner which I immediately regretted-and have just ignored anything from him since.

John Kennedy had the stature and Celtic pride, that a young Cesar had (shoulders straight and chest expanded) he still has. Sad, sad loss to our team.

I agree with you, I think everybody, who has any appreciation of football, could see that Kennedy had ‘it’. The older ones amongst us might appreciate the promise more because we would account for his age and the calibre of players he played against in highlighting his promise.

It’s lucky you never called pulled up for abuse :)
