Oops, we forgot about Sevco 5088

930

We are all familiar with brinksmanship; adopting what seems like an uncompromising position despite acute potential consequences.  Correspondence recently released around the goings-on at Rangers International and associated companies suggests at least two combative parties have been edging towards the brink since last year.  Now it is clear they are both well over the brink, it’s too late for either to back down.

The conclusion of Pinsent Masons’ report was released to the stock market this morning and found “no evidence that Craig Whyte had any involvement with Sevco Scotland Limited (now called The Rangers Football Club Limited), the company which ultimately acquired the business and assets of The Rangers Football Club P.L.C. from its administrators; nor which would suggest that Craig Whyte invested in The Rangers Football Club Limited or Rangers International Football Club plc”.

All of which, sharp-eyed observers will note, is exactly what Mr Whyte is so animated about.

Let me run through that list of companies which Mr Whyte was not involved with again:

Sevco Scotland Ltd: check
AKA The Rangers Football Club Ltd: check
Rangers International Football Club PLC: check
Sevco 5088 Ltd: wait a minute, they missed out Sevco 5088 Ltd!!

This is where the project resembles trying to push water uphill:

Rangers International plc claim Sevco 5088 Ltd is a subsidiary of theirs.

Mr Whyte claims to be a director and beneficiary of Sevco 5088 Ltd.

Pinsent Masons’ report’s published conclusion fails to comment on Mr Whyte’s status in connection with Rangers International’s claimed subsidiary company, Sevco 5088 Ltd.

The SFA prohibited the new associate member club from having any connection with Mr Whyte.  Last week the SFA chief executive acknowledged the seriousness of the club potentially breaking the conditions of membership, but said the Association would await the outcome of the Pinsent Masons’ report.  The published conclusions of which does not address the question.

Rangers International have just dared the SFA to act.  They are familiar with the tactics of brinksmanship, however….

Just in case you are new to this subject…..

Hell will freeze over before any football association with Campbell Ogilvie as president will act on this matter.  “Heavily conflicted” Campbell will ensure his board take no action.

I was delighted to read one man who knew exactly what he was dealing with when he took on the SFA.  Echoing the comments made here yesterday, Fergus McCann said:

“Filling Celtic Park against Barcelona or Spartak or Rangers is the easy part.

“The part that really counts is consistent support at every game at Celtic Park and that will deliver the top-level matches.

“My time at the Croy CSC reminds me of the importance of dedicated support.

“The members knew that their role was vital, especially in the hard times.”

The future of our club is very much in our own hands and these are important times to fill out Celtic Park.

Waterstones, Stirling, 5-7pm TODAY!

I’ll be at Waterstones, Stirling, with Willie Wallace from 5pm until 7pm this evening.  Willie will be available for photographs and signing copies of his autobiography, Heart of a Lion.  If you’re from the area, call in, I’ll see you there.

Many thanks to all who bought tickets for the Celtic top signed by the Seville squad, we sold out last night.  Thanks also to those who are bidding on the fabulous signed Messi top, you still have a few days left to get involved.  The spirit of Walfrid is alive and well 125 years on.

SB’s were a form of – entrapment exercised by Fergus and SDM. imo

They both said – “If you don’t buy yer SB – you won’t get into the o## f### games !!!”

Then they would further threaten you by saying – “If you don’t renew your SB – it will go to someone on the 11k waiting list !!!”

When I look at the personal budget for the home – there are far more important boxes to be ticked than that of the Celtic PLC Coffers.

I’ve always entertained the thought that – if ye were to remove the mask of the Celtic PLC – you would find Maggie Thatcher.

I’ll go if and when I can afford it – CSC

Celtic – expected to win every game.

Celtic – expected to only make successful signings

No other club (not even those under one year old) have managed these feats in their history.

But the impossible is expected from Celtic.

  5. Kev Jungle, I may be wrong but is it not only recently that you have said not going to see Celtic was a financial decision, had you not for a long time said it was because of the standard of play, and also your unhappiness with the “bored”

Interesting that their are no direct quotes from cardihun. A last favour to Moonbeams that will be portrayed as cardihun the last man standing for the huns.

Dont expect any quotes from cardihun until season ticket sale time is over.

  7. KevJ, another way to see buying a ST is that it is one way to support the club. You can of course pick and choose which games to go to, perfectly reasonabke thing to do, I have done that. But a ST makes a commitment to go to the games, this season games are less than £20 per game with an ST.

Your decision not to attend Celtic Park is down to finances – like many other fans. These are tough times after all.

Thanks for clearing that up. It’s good to know all the stuff about Celtic not signing journeymen from Hearts and Kilmarnock has nothing to do with your absence.

  15. Hooper is our best centre forward bar none and will be very very difficult to replace. I know our model demands that we sell him now if he won’t sign a new contract but I will be a sad Tim if we do. He and Sammi are absolutely needed in Europe. There, they are worth their weight in gold.

I think the game is breathing it’s final breaths just now.

The sooner it does the decent thing and die, the better for all concerned.

We have no sponsor to speak of, the TV deal is a joke and there is no prospect of any more cash on the horizon.

    It’s armageddon alright.

As for Celtic giving the away a million of it’s hard earned, it’s business madness, the game can not recover, even if there were two huns teams, it’s as near as dammit dead.

What I can’t get the head around, is that clubs like Celtic, who have serious big hitters in the boardroom can’t see that trying to keep the huns afloat is actually killing the game, unless this is what they want.

The problem I have with that, is if the suits know the game is on it’s knees, and it has very little chance of recovery…..why wait ?

Bring it down now, with the sfa a busted flush, we would have a bloody good case for uefa to sanction a move away from the corruption that is taking place.

They hate us anyways, always have done, always will.

Celtic have always stood for what is right, well Celtic, do the right thing and bring the cheating and corrupt sfa down.

There is no definitive answer as to how the name Celtic should be pronounced.

My own reason for using the hard K sound is that the man who was founded the club ALWAYS called it Keltic.

    That’s good enough for me.

    Good luck.

All signings are a risk thats why when guys like Gary Hooper may leave some of us get worried as who knows if the next guy will be a dud

Gary Hooper with 82 goals for Celtic is 23rd on the all time list of Celtic goalscorers. These goals have come from 137 games. The only players ahead of him who have played less than 200 games are Dixie Deans, Brian McClair and Chris Sutton.

Gary Hooper is much maligned by some Celtic fans but he is a goal machine who scores very important goals as well as the run of the mill ones.

I for one would not want to see him leave as if he stays with us another 3 or 4 years, he could be getting close to the 200 goal mark, a feat only achieved by 5 other Celts.

Can any knowledgeable, historian types clarify the following for me:

When and why did we go from vertical stripes to the hoops?

    ————————————————————–

Celtic first wore the Hoops in 1903. A full 15 years after we played our first game. ” Experimentation was better than stagnation”.

The Seville top was modelled on the first top. 100 years of the Hoops.

An instantly recognisable top, the World over. C’mon the Hoops!

  28. Mort,

If Hooper had any intention of staying he would have signed by now. Did he not go to a new agent last year. His ideal choice in the EPL would be Spurs as he is a boyhood Spurs fans. However, i’m sure he would take an EPL club head down and score the goals we know he can score and maybe pick up a bigger EPL club next couple of years. He is certainly young enough.

Not doubt the boy can score but i just think we have lost better strikers and moved on.

  29. Awe_Naw

I think it might have been Itay Shechter as we were certainly linked with him and his record at Hapoel Tel Aviv was ok with 38 goals in 75 games. Since then he moved to Kaiserslautern and scored 4 in 26 and moved to loan at Swansea City where he scored once in 20 games.

    Mort

  30. WGS

Off course we can move on but its not that easy to pick up a really good striker as even in Neil Lennon’s time we have signed a lot of forwards/strikers and few made the grade.
