O’RILEY: NO DEAL

MATT O’RILEY will NOT be moving to Inter Milan next month.

News leaked last week the Serie A outfit were about to firm up their interest in Celtic’s in-form midfielder.

However, as CQN forecast at the time, the champions will not be interested in selling the 23-year-old midfielder who has scored nine goals and had eight assists in a blistering start to the campaign.

Brendan Rodgers admitted he had “no fears” about the Danish international’s situation and added: “I’m delighted for Matt, he’s made a fantastic step forward this season as a Celtic player and in his career.

“That shows the focus and mentality from training he’s taking into games.

HANDS UP IF YOU’RE HAPPY…Matt O’Riley celebrates his wonder strike in the 3-1 win over St Johnstone.

“He will always attract the interest of teams. But I don’t have any fear, he’s a good guy who works very, very hard. When you do that, you’re always going to have interest.”

Inter, currently setting the pace in the Italian top flight with a four-point lead over Juventus, are reported to want O’Riley on an initial loan period before they commit to a massive bid for the player who cost a bargain £1.5million from third-tier club MK Dons in January 2022.

The fans’ favourite signed an enhanced four-year contract in late September and Parkhead insiders insist the talented ball-player is perfectly happy and settled at Celtic as the team fix their sights on their twelfth title in 13 years.

The pursuit of the club’s 54th championship continues against Dundee today before the second derby of the term brings down the curtain on Saturday.

O’Riley was a pivotal figure at Ibrox in September and set up the only goal of the encounter with a smart header to Kyogo Furuhashi that allowed the Japanese ace to volley an unstoppable shot past Jack Butland.

The London-born star is ready to play his part again and is paying no heed to outside noise.
