Our redoubtable former manager

1226

No one on Celtic Quick News ever doubted Gordon Strachan, did they?

It’s been a long 8 years since that dark week but our former manager demonstrated enormous resilience to win three consecutive league titles and twice qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.  He is perfect for the Scotland role, although, to be frank, I didn’t think his squad had last night’s result in them.  Well done to all.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

You can choose from two cards, see explanation and choices here, one with Tony Watt after scoring against some Spanish lot, the other with Billy McNeill receiving some trophy or other.

Click on the button below, enter the text you would like to appear in the middle of the card, and Tony will post your book off in time for Father’s Day.

You are 100% correct, the problem in Scotland is that in all probability the supporters of the majority of clubs ,are quite happy to be subservient to Sevco.

Regans email to huns asking for their ok and permission to release a statement on their Euro licence.

Disgusting and should be enough to have him removed from his post, but he wont be because ALL the other SPL boards say nothing(IMHO)about his actions and behaviour .

Sent: 07 December 2011To: Ali Russell; Andrew DicksonSubject: PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIALImportance: High** Confidential **** High Priority ** Ali/AndrewFurther to my discussion yesterday with Andrew on the matter of Rangers FC’s European licence Iwould like to release the following statement. I believe this will be in the interest of both the club andourselves and I hope you agree. Please can you confirm that you are happy with the content. If so, Iwould propose to issue this later today at an agreed time with yourselves.ThanksStewartIn light of persistent speculation across all media, the Scottish FA would like to clarify the position inregard to Rangers FC’s licence to play in Europe as governed by Article 50 of the UEFA Regulations. It is noted from the report submitted to the Licensing Committee by Rangers FC’s advisors GrantThornton UK LLP, dated 30th March 2011,that: “All the recorded payroll taxes at 31 December 2010 have, according to the accounting recordsof the Club since that date been paid in full by 31 March 2011, with the exception of the continuingdiscussion between the Club and HM Revenue and Customs in relation to a potential liability of £2.8massociated with contributions between 1999 and 2003 into a discounted option scheme. 5. Good going debate tonight.

If the club knows what is going on at the SFA and Sevco then what are they doing about it?

I find it hard to believe they are doing nothing, naive, maybe, but why would they sit on their hands?

I think the club is working on a way out of Scottish football, that may offer a reason why they are not more involved with what is happening at the SFA.

    Just an opinion.

cut that out…was on a Highland trip with school the week Charlie signed for Arsenal and the only bloody tapes we had were the Eagles and Meatloaf…hated both since!

  7. vp,

    Lenny makes the team work

The board are supposed to make sure we’re No victims,

who has been more successful ?

Why should I/we be limited, are you no interested in the club.

    Are you blond ?

Aye the team under Lenny have made us al happy, well mostly all, certainly me.

The board well that’s another matter, vilified the green brigade for the last 5 years but the team had a good year so we can forget that.

The SFA have proven more corrupt than Blair but the team have had a good year so we can forget that.

Aye, very good, head buried in the sand like a stupid hun under Murray we’ve had a good year, lets just ignore the fact that the overt corruption in the SFA, SPL has no even been questioned by those who are meant to represent the shareholders never mind the rest of the support, then again we’re a family so it’s only the shareholders who have been let down by those put in position to protect our interests, oh wait I forgot about season ticket holding shareholders who are obviously far more important, oops wait, there’s corporate season ticket investor shareholders, then there’s share holders without season tickets, awe this is getting a bit too much, there’s season ticket shareholders who spend more money than the investor shareholders who don’t travel to away games and never missed a game except when they had to go to their granny’s funeral one time in 1978 but managed to catch the highlights instead of toasting.

Aye it’s a family all right, some shower, only criticise if you criticise in agreement with me.

I love the team, everything else is fair game, if you don’t like that thought, innit

  8. Just for a minute forget the scandal that is happening within our game………..

Why, I ask myself, have euro clubs who have been knocked out by the huns, done or said nothing, after all, they have had money robbed from them………….

Shirly they should have made presentations to uefa…..no….or does the tenticals reach that far ??????/

    I would wager they do.

It is interesting to read the background to the said dinner in December 2011, and the knowledge that conversations which took place at said dinner were recorded and in effect have been published. They are now part of the record. It is now on record that said dinner took place some six months before the club discussed went into liquidation, providing a prima facie case in relation to the direct involvement of the SFA, albeit in an informal setting, in relation to the future of said club from the perspective of both the SFA and of the club itself. Celtic were not represented. Whether we were represented at the five way agreement cannot be known unless that document is published, which it now must be. Chances are we were represented by the SPL and possibly, vicariously, by the SFA. All the more reason to publish said document. As to the present, it is not Celtic’s job to protect supporters of the successor club, (and that is what they are) from the ravages of Whyte, Green et al. However, it is the SFA’s job to govern Scottish football without, in the vernacular, fear or favour, and that they have singularly failed to do. And as such, they have to go.

  10. Would The Guardian’s media section be interested in the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil method of our country’s sporting press?

Would the latest revelations from Charlotte regarding Jack Irvine who in the past has been alleged to have used blackmail and bullying tactics to have a hold over people in prominent positions affect their interest?

I hope you are right…if Charlotte’s for real this is a gift of a story but so far crap transfer speculation-lazy journalism-seems to be the way ahead.

  16. The post below IMO deserves a re post.

We Celts need to focus on the root of the corruption and it not at the obvious place, namely ibrox, the root of the corruption is at the governing body within Scottish football, the sfa president held a senior position at rangers when the fraud started, therefore its only right that the sfa president ensures his position is safe by failing to govern.

    Tinytim,

I don’t want the Celtic board to even mention the sevco, I want Celtic board to demand an investigation into the SFA, I don’t care about sevco they are no longer a concern, the SFA are and must be dealt with, the sevco distraction is the plc excuse for no bringing the misgovernance into focus, for me it means they are complicit, keep the stupid plebs squealing like pigs about a hun that doesn’t exist and our corruption will go unnoticed, the Celtic plc by its silence is complicit.

  19. We have know for years the sfa were corrupt to their very core, but now that it has been proven to be true, and we have been proven not to be paranoid.

The gauling thing for me is that they are laughing at us, they are untouchable.

It’s 2013, nearly half way through the year, and we no further forward than we were when all this shit first broke.

If anything, we have gone backwards.
