Patrick, Moussa, Dedryck and Scott Brown

866

After the turmoil of Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic return to domestic duty tomorrow with the visit of Ross County. County won on the opening day of the season but have taken only one point from 15 since. They have been a soft touch for several teams in crisis recently, so in theory, this looks like a straightforward challenge for the champions.

This is the first of two games in the next five days, the other, a League Cup tie away to bottom club Dundee. After this, we go to Ibrox then Brussels. Without wanting to be overfly disrespectful to Ross County or Dundee (or, indeed, overly respectful to Newco), we should have two objectives for the next two games:

Rest limbs and minds which have been intensely exercised by international and Champions League football.

Intensely exercise limbs that have seen little action this season. Specifically Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts.

Patrick could do with a full 90 minutes. He was our best performer on Tuesday, but he’s clearly suffering from a lack of game time. Dedryck has targeted a starting place at Ibrox for months. To achieve this, he will need to play a lot of football this week.

There’s no guarantee Moussa would dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the line-up at Ibrox, even if fully fit, but the Champions League game away to Anderlecht is a different tie. This has to be his target, which leaves little time to build his sharpness.

Perhaps most importantly of all, I would rest Scott Brown tomorrow. The games ahead are simply too important to have images of a fatigued Scott fresh in the mind. Brendan should also consider a place for Lustig, Armstrong and Tierney on the bench.

Win tickets for Ibrox

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two tickets for the visit to Ibrox on 23 September to raffle for Mary’s Meals. You know the script:

Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat a school meal each day because of the money raised by CQN’ers.

You are improving lives, educating a generation in some of the most deprived locations in the world. School attendance has increased an average of 30%, literacy and numeracy skills improve. Life-long opportunities are enhanced.

To enter the raffle, answer this question:

Which Belgian team will Celtic face in this season’s Champions League?

Please donate a minimum of £5 to this MyDonate page. Then forward your confirmation email with your answer in the SUBJECT LINE to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks to you and Intelligent Car Leasing.

  1. 1975 Cup final. Paul Wilson scored twice with two headers then declined the chance of a cup final hatrick late on when we were awarded a penalty. Pat McCluskey scored from the spot. Hh

A tad ironic in your second to last post.

If he did not see from the clear pictures of his proximity and unimpeded sightline on my tv then there are only three plausible reasons for his inability to apply the rules.

    He shut his eyes.

    He really has vision problems.

He chose to ignore the actuality of what happened as he is afraid to give decisions against sevco.

On the time wasting all i pointed out was his interpretation and approach to time wasting was different tonight than that he applied to Celtic v StJohnstone where he very pointedly refused to recognize it.

When I travelled home and away in Scotland and Europe with you when we were kids, we had not a care in the world.

Going to Allianz Arena will be magic. Canny wait.

    Fine start to the day.

A cyber visit to Firhill on delay and a nail biting last 15 followed by a happy ending .

Morelos plays just like a Latino .

Sneaky wee agitator . On this occasion ,his provocation succeeded which will empower him further.

    Brendan will have noticed.

Now we don`t want to crush the huns in their own midden if we wish Pedro to remain.

    And I think we do.

Surprising that few people on here are aware of Marc Bolan given my assumed demographic of the posters.

Well known that Oasis ripped off the “Get it on ” riff for “Roll with it”. Then again, it’s only rock and roll and I like it.

    ———-

‘ get it on riff ‘ was used in ‘ ‘ cigarettes n alcohol ‘

Thankfully, like your son and my 2 sons and 2 daughters, the apples didnae fall far fae their Tim tree. :)

  7. I don’t see the compliance officer having much of a reason to cite Windass.

Stupid by him but surely only worthy of a word in his ear.

I think it’s a squirrel to deflect from Morelos and his violent conduct which was ignored.

This should be looked at but doubt it will as he is the huns only decent goalscoring threat so will be wearing Gascoines coat of invisibility all season.

i really do want to crush them at the midden.

A combined coach of Stein,Shankly.Zidane and Guardiola couldn’t make a team out of that bunch of diddies.

The caravan driver is good for a laugh though so long may he reign.

I havent read back and I dont intend to, as some on here are MAY well have been slagging off Celtic players during the match ?

    I dunno.

But IF so…get a grip………..PSG are way ahead of us…and probably MOST of other teams in Europe.

we tried, but we couldnt lay a glove on them…it happens.

God Bless Brendan and The Bhoys.

I thought Jimmy’s post on Tuesday was superb and heartfelt. Post of the week!!

Here’s hoping that Jimmy makes it into the BV tomorrow to help celebrate a victory and the build up to more CL nights, the return of Moussa and Dedryck and the slaying of Sevco.

    Great Celtic days.

    Nite all.

Dallas has been speaking to me in the last week or two and the phrase I used was

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”

I think his “rubbish” answer was he was older when he went too his first away game in Europe :-)
