Patrick, Moussa, Dedryck and Scott Brown

After the turmoil of Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic return to domestic duty tomorrow with the visit of Ross County. County won on the opening day of the season but have taken only one point from 15 since. They have been a soft touch for several teams in crisis recently, so in theory, this looks like a straightforward challenge for the champions.

This is the first of two games in the next five days, the other, a League Cup tie away to bottom club Dundee. After this, we go to Ibrox then Brussels. Without wanting to be overfly disrespectful to Ross County or Dundee (or, indeed, overly respectful to Newco), we should have two objectives for the next two games:

Rest limbs and minds which have been intensely exercised by international and Champions League football.

Intensely exercise limbs that have seen little action this season. Specifically Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts.

Patrick could do with a full 90 minutes. He was our best performer on Tuesday, but he’s clearly suffering from a lack of game time. Dedryck has targeted a starting place at Ibrox for months. To achieve this, he will need to play a lot of football this week.

There’s no guarantee Moussa would dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the line-up at Ibrox, even if fully fit, but the Champions League game away to Anderlecht is a different tie. This has to be his target, which leaves little time to build his sharpness.

Perhaps most importantly of all, I would rest Scott Brown tomorrow. The games ahead are simply too important to have images of a fatigued Scott fresh in the mind. Brendan should also consider a place for Lustig, Armstrong and Tierney on the bench.

Win tickets for Ibrox

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two tickets for the visit to Ibrox on 23 September to raffle for Mary’s Meals. You know the script:

Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat a school meal each day because of the money raised by CQN’ers.

You are improving lives, educating a generation in some of the most deprived locations in the world. School attendance has increased an average of 30%, literacy and numeracy skills improve. Life-long opportunities are enhanced.

To enter the raffle, answer this question:

Which Belgian team will Celtic face in this season’s Champions League?

Please donate a minimum of £5 to this MyDonate page. Then forward your confirmation email with your answer in the SUBJECT LINE to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks to you and Intelligent Car Leasing.

GFTB posted on here that Wee Wullie Winkie taught his niece. She was surprised he was a professional football referee, because in her words, Mr Collum hates football.

  3. JMCCORMICK .deep purple my band. jon lord roger glover ian paice ian gillan the best heavy rock band in the world.

  4. Surprising that few people on here are aware of Marc Bolan given my assumed demographic of the posters.

Well known that Oasis ripped off the “Get it on ” riff for “Roll with it”. Then again, it’s only rock and roll and I like it.

  5. HTF did the Celtic scouts miss Carlos Pena?

  10. fan etc.

because, unlike BT he didn’t have slow motion ten angles or replays. but he did spot morales stamp in for the ball in injury time on the six yard box when he could have, if he was bias, let it go on hoping the hun might get a chance. funnily the commenters missed it so it was only shown on replay once.

  11. Dallas

Every Oasis track I have heard has been plagiarised. Noel and Liam have made a career out of it on drugs and adapting their childhood sounds. Wish I had done it.

  12. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

    Jude , no bother .

I was hoping he played to sort them out and enjoy another win over them .

I hope he does well at Brighton..

  13. i do this strange thing. it dates back to the dead team that played out of ibrox. when they go behind in a game i put money on them to win. that way i can relax because if they do come back then at least i’ll get some money back.

so tonight i put a fiver on the hun at 5-1 when thistle were 2-1 up. it’s worth the fiver to know even if they win I win something. So tonight I’m a fiver down but happy. does that make any sense? only problem is that they are so crap now that it’s costing me a fortune!!

He had a clear view of Morales and Windass incidents i highlighted.

I he needed assistance from numerous replays on either then he has a problem with his eyesight.

Of course neither incident was behind him so i will cut him slack.

Also noticed he warned Thistle goalie and yellow carded another for time wasting .

In the last Celtic v St Johnstone game their goalie constantly wasted time and the crowd was going crazy about as well as Celtic players who drew attention to.Not only did he do nothing about but he was very demonstrative that he was not going to and ran upfield with no direction to goalie to stop it.

He can be a tad inconsistent with his interpretation of rules.

  15. Interesting evening in the West End…………………….

spotted the lesser known big ‘Judith’ in the flesh (well with clothes on)!

Grub in the Western Club (dodged Ronald de Villiers) – small libation in the Chip – followed by the Grovenor Cinema (drink only) – the Wee Chip – taxi to Epiqures – nobody Lillian Gish(ed).

Driver was asked about Firhill result – condolences were offered and (after rummaging for an extra 20p) he got a Craig Whyte £1 tip!
