Patrick, Moussa, Dedryck and Scott Brown

After the turmoil of Paris Saint-Germain, Celtic return to domestic duty tomorrow with the visit of Ross County. County won on the opening day of the season but have taken only one point from 15 since. They have been a soft touch for several teams in crisis recently, so in theory, this looks like a straightforward challenge for the champions.

This is the first of two games in the next five days, the other, a League Cup tie away to bottom club Dundee. After this, we go to Ibrox then Brussels. Without wanting to be overfly disrespectful to Ross County or Dundee (or, indeed, overly respectful to Newco), we should have two objectives for the next two games:

Rest limbs and minds which have been intensely exercised by international and Champions League football.

Intensely exercise limbs that have seen little action this season. Specifically Dedryck Boyata, Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts.

Patrick could do with a full 90 minutes. He was our best performer on Tuesday, but he’s clearly suffering from a lack of game time. Dedryck has targeted a starting place at Ibrox for months. To achieve this, he will need to play a lot of football this week.

There’s no guarantee Moussa would dislodge Leigh Griffiths from the line-up at Ibrox, even if fully fit, but the Champions League game away to Anderlecht is a different tie. This has to be his target, which leaves little time to build his sharpness.

Perhaps most importantly of all, I would rest Scott Brown tomorrow. The games ahead are simply too important to have images of a fatigued Scott fresh in the mind. Brendan should also consider a place for Lustig, Armstrong and Tierney on the bench.

Win tickets for Ibrox

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us two tickets for the visit to Ibrox on 23 September to raffle for Mary’s Meals. You know the script:

Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat a school meal each day because of the money raised by CQN’ers.

You are improving lives, educating a generation in some of the most deprived locations in the world. School attendance has increased an average of 30%, literacy and numeracy skills improve. Life-long opportunities are enhanced.

To enter the raffle, answer this question:

Which Belgian team will Celtic face in this season’s Champions League?

Please donate a minimum of £5 to this MyDonate page. Then forward your confirmation email with your answer in the SUBJECT LINE to celticquicknews@gmail.com

Many thanks to you and Intelligent Car Leasing.

  1. That first half performance from Thistle was dire, probably the worst I have seen this season, constantly giving the ball away or having it nicked off them. Huns not much better. Doesn’t seem to be a system to their play and no real creativity from anyone…poor stuff…

Best league in the world provides the worst teams in the world

Ok the money is good if money is your God but can anyone tell me why a Celtic fan who is also a player would move there?

How many millions do you have to earn to sell your soul?☘️☘️

I love Scottish Friday night football, especially if Celtic are playing, even though its Hatred FC playing would watch this rather than Sky EPL pish, although Googlebox might take precedence at 9pm :-)

  5. Corrie is heading for a pretty damn predictable wedding day “disaster”.

At least 2 assaults, 1 murder and couple of divorces are the minimum requirements. Paddy Power offers 5/4 on at least two of the above happening.

  6. I’m watching the re-carnation against the Jags.

I haven’t seen them play since the new season started and wanted to see what we will be up against.

Mildly amused and very confused. Professional footballers who can’t trap a ball and can’t make simple passes. No pace to the game.

A commentary team who want Thistle player sent off, when the offender was Ryan Jack with a two-footed off the ground challenge,

    Goal for Thistle.

God bless your soul and wash your eyes out for watching the forces of darkness.

    Well done Spittal :))

  8. Please let Alves be in the team to play against us.

Griff / Moussa / Edouard will fill their boots.

  9. Right time for the Marc Bolan docu on BBC 4. He would have been 70 today.

As for the Manky Mob, don’t really care. As Celtic fans we were born with stars in our hair. HH

See that wee Columbian they’ve got wan tackle fae Big Jozo n he’s finished.

    KEEP THE FAITH

  13. Couldn’t bring myself to watch them unless they’re certain to lose.

If they don’t lose, i know i haven’t blackened my soul for two hours and wasted 90 minutes of my life which would have been better spent blow drying my hair. If they do lose, then I have the satisfaction of knowing they got humped AND having an immaculatley coiffured barnet…..

    ;-)

And anyway. I have the new Gun CD to listen to. :-))))
