Penalty box possession and shots from outside the area

543

You thought St Mirren were a hard watch?  Livingston won three and drew three of their last six games but did not manage the majority of possession in any of those outings.  Incredibly, they beat Dundee (by four goals), Dundee United and Aberdeen with an average of 39% possession.

If they dug in against the team at the bottom of the league, they will only leave their defensive third to have a shot on goal against the league leaders on Sunday (expect them to shoot on sight).

There will be no surprises.  High crosses into the box will be successfully defended.  There will be no space in front of goal, marking will be skintight, the defensive line will be straight.  The pitch will be terrible, passing and control will be difficult – if you have a ticket, please be forgiving.

If you needed a reason to be concerned more than Celtic’s historical results against Livi, their recent form is impressive.  Livingston have collected the joint second highest points total from their last five games, just two behind Celtic.

The first objective will be to get possession inside their box.  We have the players to make any defender nervous at making a rash challenge with a penalty on the line.  Shots from the edge of the area will be important.  A ricochet did us no harm against St Mirren, against a packed defence, another is very possible.

Teams who win leagues win games like this.  Three points for Celtic here will go a long way to achieving that objective.

Anyone know if Ernie is ok? I’m worried, Tom’s post at 1:33 and we haven’t had a question regarding the offensive behaviour at football act.

Hamilton the musical would have been OK – but singing and dancing on a plastic pitch is just ridiculous and should be banned.

`I used to read CQN for a more positive and honest view than that which the MSSM offered. Now, like the pigs and humans in Animal Farm, it is becoming difficult to tell the difference.`

What’s positive and honest in your eyes?

`Positive` would be highlighting our strengths more often than any perceived negatives.

` Predicting a 3 nil win is positive but is it honest??`

I was talking of the MSSM when I referred `honest`.

Thanks to you ,too for that info.

Would it be a leap to suggest that Mr Dunbar will appear in a seat in West Lothian, Ayshire or South Lanarkshire?

Could be a laugh if he gets rid of a Tory.

  5. timmy7_noted on

Maybe Mr Sarwar will need to rethink his Jacobite thistle shite.

What would be better? An Orange lily? A loyal bulldog?

  6. Disappointed in the appointment of a recently active Orangeman to stand as candidate in North Lanarkshire where we already have a recent prominent Orngeman councillor. It’s all very well saying he will be held to the same equality standards as others but how do you measure this? There is a lot of suspicion across the communities. Back in the 70’s when I was last in the Labour Party we had a Constituency Chairman who was a Catholic HT in Milton. He faced a lot of suspicion as to whether he would treat non-Catholics equally.

I believe the old MP for East Kilbride, Adam Ingram, (who was also a crap full back in one of the Cowglen teams- as Auldheid might testify) had, I think, left the organisation before becoming an MP. I wonder if any Catholics in the Knights get faced with the same scrutiny and suspicion, or if , indeed, there are any in any of the political parties

  7. I found the following about Adam Ingram:-

“Ingram applied for an interim interdict to prevent the publication of Respect politician George Galloway’s book I’m Not the Only One (2004). Galloway’s text stated that Ingram “played the flute in a sectarian, anti-Catholic, Protestant-supremacist Orange Order band”. Ingram’s opinion that this was in bad faith and defamatory, although Ingram’s lawyers conceded that for a year as a teenager he had been a member of a junior Orange Lodge in Barlanark, Glasgow, and had attended three parades. The Judge, Lord Kingarth, decided to refuse an interim interdict, that the balance of the arguments favoured Galloway’s publisher, and that the phrase “sectarian, anti-Catholic, Protestant-supremacist” was fair comment on that organisation. Although Ingram was not and never had been a flute-player, the defending advocate observed that “playing the flute carries no obvious defamatory imputation … it is not to the discredit of anyone that he plays the flute.” The judge ruled that Ingram should pay the full court costs of the hearing.”

Get the ball into their defensive third as quickly as possible ….

.. in part by, occasionally, sacrificing accuracy for speed.

If we retain possession great – then get the ball in the box equally quickly.

If we don’t retain possession – then counter the counter deep in their RED zone.

agree, cant be a proper Celtic supporter whoever it is.

Agreed, the fag packet calculations look in the right ballpark. On the bigger picture I’m genuinely torn as I want to rally against any association with any incarnation of the blue corner but my family in Australia are over the moon at getting to see Ange display his (hopefully) title winning team on home turf.

We are currently draw specialist – which won’t get us into the playoffs.

Our manager is currently on compassionate leave after the sudden and tragic death of his daughter – can’t see him returning this season.

  20. As I said before, does Celtic V Sevco in Oz not offer the opportunity for a less biased (than the MSSM ) Fouth Estate to ponder whether or not the `Rangers` they are being offered is actually the same one as was born in 1872?

I only watched a couple of minutes but it really did seem `simpler`. Of course, it may well receive the same kind of response from children today were they to visit such a live show. I sometimes think that it is not so much children who have changed but us who have done so.
