The game was only 42 seconds old when Peterhead’s David Ross was sent clean through on Lukasz Zaluska after some excellent approach play but the Celtic keeper was alert enough to collect the ball and prevent the home team’s only chance of the game. Anthony Stokes scored a hat trick and had a further two goals disallowed for offside as Celtic progressed into the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
Stokes looked most likely to score from the off. Samaras fed the Irishman on 14 minutes but his shot was blocked. Ki then played a forward pass inside the Peterhead right back to the overlapping Cha. Cha’s cutback found Stokes, who leaned back in the act of shooting and fired over. Just before the half hour mark Charlie Mulgrew passed a corner on the deck to Ki, who took a touch and shot against the crossbar from the edge of the D. Keeper Jarvie then saved well from a Mulgrew free kick.
Celtic opened the scoring on 35 minutes with a classic Centenary goal when Paddy McCourt swivelled in the centre of the field before playing a forward ball for Samaras to run onto. The Greek striker reached the ball inside the 18-yard-box and squared with his first touch to Stokes who knocked the ball into an empty net.
Shortly before half time Samaras carried the ball 80 yards before crossing for Stokes who finished well inside the 6-yard-box but he was flagged for offside.
Stokes second came on 57 minutes when Emilio Izaguirre dribbled into the box before playing a smart 1-2-3 with Stokes, who found what looked like an impossible space inside Jarvie’s right hand post.
Stokes was now on fire and could have added a third a moment later when he controlled a Mulgrew corner inside the ball but pulled his shot wide from 6 yards. The striker completed his hat trick on 82 minutes a few seconds after substitute Dylan McGeough entered the field and dribbled into the box. The ball was cleared to Wanyama to pushed it right to Brown who then sent it onto Stokes who made no mistake.

the referee should have done his job properly, and nipped a few in the bud with yellow cards. Im sure his bosses will say he did do his job properly….
amd that is all he will be caring about…not fellow fans calling him a hun.
Tom,
People in Ireland would say MAG-E-YO.Well maybe not precisely like that.lol
Its usually spelt Mc GEOUGH rather than McGEOUCH.
Someone posted earlier about the foul count between the two games today, and the hun count was akin to Peterhead’s tally, yet Arbroath got 2 yellows, 1 for the hun.
Aye things even themselfs out, absolute bollix, cheats every last one of them.
Resign Celtic, cast them all to hell.

Ridiculous to suggest Jim McInally sent his players out to maim Celtic players.
Individually and collectively they haven’t got the pace, the vision ,the fitness nor the skill to compete. It was inevitable there would be clumsy ,late tackles
I would exempt the Joe Ledley challenge from this generalisation, that was an elbow and a straight red card.

Tom
someone posted on here about 3 or 4 nights ago in a rage about Jim McInally’s comments which indicated that if they sat back Celtic would run rings round them so he was going to tell his players to kick and get in round about us. The poster wanted Jim McInally to be made to apologise. I did not see the source of where McInally was being quoted from but it generated a lot of discussion.

In short:
you are having a go at Provan and MacLeod for rubbishing the Celtic, agreed ?
and you then have a go at them by ……..
rubbishing the Celtic team of the 78-83 era ?
It is that simple.
No need to display the credentials.
Burnley 78, is my worst early memory of the ‘tic.
I don’t know how Dylan’s surname is pronounced but I wouldn’t mind hearing more of it in SPL games,,only seen glimpses of him but he doesnt do much wrong from what I’ve seen…
……with Forrest and Ki being played as subs, main point being I would just like to see Commons back,I’m sure we also had a good spell will Ledley in the mid with Kayal so I’d like to see how Joe does with Vic.

Ever see Berie Auld play?
………………
Aye often and spent more than a few sessions in his company, he never said he sent a team out to leave the boot in to Celtic players when he was a manager though.
Are you happy with the lack of protection our players endure?
Vinny
Anybody think Commons is likely to be back regular?
TheOriginalSadiesBhoy/fergus slayed the blues
Had a cracking treble up earlier, Manure, Wed and Sunderland just over 19/1, had a spare odds on the balance, thought I would do another, Betis, Napoli and Barca a 2/9 shot let me down, broke the golden rule, single bets only, not only that, Barca losing more points tonight might just scupper a few of my pre season bets, ah well, I have to thank MoN for a good even money win today, still a mugs game.
McGeoch, surely its greenock with the r and n removed!
Kojo, Kojo where have you been?
What do you think about Celtic signing Ian Black while Kayal is injured? I’m being mocked on here for merely suggesting it. I need allies … or more Lemsip.

surely lack of protection is down to the referee?
ffs can nobody say ‘loch’
McGeoch,how hard is it?

Re the pronuciation of young Dylan’s name.
I have a mate who has the same name, and he says it Mi Goff, but, he is english.
TheOriginalSadiesBhoy
Enjoy your Lemsip
McGeogh is pronounced HUN-SKEL-PER-2012
Kojo…should Sammi take the penalties?
Thanks to all re the pronounciation of McGeouch. Was wondering if it was like we say McKeogh in Ireland. I think he is going to be a great player for us.
HH
The proper pronunciation is
Dii Lan
The referee is to blame for today’s aggression.
Davie Provan had the best hair of the 1980’s.
Murdo had the best middle shed.
They were both OUTSTANDING Celtic palyers, and both retain a strong affection for the club. I know this from personal experience.
It would be great to see Kris back. Whether he is a regular or not will depend on his form and James Forrest and that’s how it should be.
Árd Macha
TET
When have the English been able to talk properly!
That name would then be ‘McGough’
Surely.
SOAL
Thanks mate. I’m honestly not feeling 100% and I need to get to bed as I’m doing the school run in the morning but it’s hard when you’re enjoying the craic on CQN.
Big Cup Winners
You put it succinctly ……
I do think the achievements (or not) of 78-83 should be considered in context of the competition at the time, that is all.
I also think these guys do a lot of harm with their negative utterances against all who try to succeed in the current era…..their critique of GS was bitter and often is given in a manner which suggested they achieved much more in their time……the euro record was a joke.
They achieved far less IMO. Although I do still rate the 4-2 as my all time high (with Boavista away and Man U at home, however…..after Burnley 78 and subsequently Artmedia and Black Sunday as my lows as games attended….
Lads, I dont mean to be a killjoy in view of a good 3-0 win and a hatchet job on our players, but seriously Cha Du Ri
is a very,very,limited player.
Heidi Range

I hate Estrella DAMM sold in Barcelona.
